The longer it drags out the higher the fine, because clubs that they beat by cheating can honestly say that if they had won they could have bought better players, won more the next year and so on. You can't unravel 5 years of that for every club in the league. You just have to do a Rangers and send them out of the league. There is no amount of money they could pay to compensate everyone. And quite frankly anyone involved in it should not be allowed to work in football again.

I mean...yes, Simon and Stefan are likely right about all of this BUT I think even they would agree that IF Chelsea do manage to raise profit before June 30th, then they will be fine.
IMO they can definitely raise 100m profit by that deadline if they need to (i.e. 35m Maatsen, 28m Hall, 40m+ Gallagher all already queued up). It would be MUCH more difficult if they need to raise more like 200m profit. If their gap truly is that large, then I do agree that they are going to fail.
So, the real issue with Chelsea isn't that they need to raise money before June 30th but moreso how much money they have to raise. 100m, no problem. 200m, they are in trouble.

Interestingly this was one of the main reasons why the FA campaigned to get women banned from playing football and for 50 yrs they got their wish. That's just one story of many of the FA's backdoor dealings and if anyone thinks that's the past and not now only have to look at the FIFA bribe scandals, UEFA I have no doubt is similar. Why don't they just simplify it. Because there is so much money pumped into the Premier League, no club should be allowed to make a loss. So for up to every £5m loss each year, the club will be deducted 1 point. That means if a club loses £30m it's 6 points deduction, £50m it's 10 points deduction, £70m it's 14 points deduction, and so on. This will force clubs to reduce the outrageous wages that they pay players and reduce the ridiculous amount spend on transfers

If Chelsea's turnover was £435M, £481M, £xxxM for 21-23 and their losses were reportedly -£153.4M, -£121.3M and -£90.1M respectively. However the panel point out that they can't have had combined losses of more than £105M otherwise they would have been charged in December 2023. It's been pointed out that not losses count for P&SR, we don't know what their losses are under PS&R.
Chelsea earnt an estimated £93.6M from the CL alone, if all else is equal that'd give them a turnover of £495.4M and a loss of -£183.6M. They will get a little more because they'll finish higher and had a better run in the domestic cups but even with that and flogging some players they're surely going to be restricted in what they can spend in the very least and the same would be true in 2024/25

This is what modern football has become... Only 20 years ago it was about managers and players...Then RA buys Chelsea and it's about owners, agents, managers and players...
The legacy owners (most of who have sold their clubs or saddled them with debt) cried about the spending of RA, and later Abu Dhabi...
Now football is also about owners, lawyers, consultants, accounts, revenue and profit... I work in finance, and football is now like going into the office.

Interesting that Simon trots out City were guilty in the eyes of UEFA and yet completely dismisses CAS. UEFA broke its own rules to find City guilty (time-barring_ and even the CAS panel said that the conclusions that UEFA reached are not supported by the evidence they have presented (paragraphs 252-257 of the CAS report). Yet for Simon, and apparently everyone else, that doesn't matter. Why? Because they simply don't want to accept it given their emotional attachment to the situation.
Also, everyone constantly parrots the same ill-informed talking points about the fair value of City's commercial deals and how it relates to UEFA. In the UEFA case, they even found that the deals were of fair value and yet no one says that either.

@@lilbaz8073 I’m not so sure. Remember, the PL allegations are breaking FFP, they’re effectively saying City has committed major accounting fraud for 10yrs. That’s not simply a FFP breach, what they’re alleging, if true, will mean that all member of the board were aware of and knowingly went along with a massive conspiracy to commit accounting fraud; it mean most of the executives at City were on board as well, including Berrada (as he was head of commercial sales and there’s been all kinds of accusations from fans about that which is ironic considering MU just hired him as new CEO), to outside accounting auditors such as KPMG and Deloitte, to gov officials in the UAE - all for a decade.
The bar to prove such accusations is extremely high, so much so, that the PL would need to several “smoking guns” to prove it. Have you seen all the evidence that supports the PLs allegations I’ve mentioned? I haven’t. No one has. Yet so many ppl are so sure City are guilty yet most don’t even have the faintest understanding of the charges as they think it’s just an FFP breach like NF & Everton but many more and it’s not that at all.
Lastly, a good chunk of the PLs case falls on commercial revenue being overstated, which would mean the financial statements are all wrong. What’s fascinating here is that UEFA had already cleared City of that and have said the commercial deals were not inflated. I find this aspect interesting bc if UEFA had no issue with commercial revenue and said it was all fair value, why and how has the PL reached a different conclusion? Maybe it’s commercial deals right when the club was first taken over? Not sure. The other thing to consider is just how incompetent the PL executive group is. They’ve been slapped down on appeal for Everton, their decided against using the VAR the WC uses, they’ve refused to put a framework in place that maps out the punishment for FFP breaches, even under their watchful eye and signing off on Everton’s transfers, they still somehow breached FFP, they’ve done nothing to address the PGMOL debacle. I could go on, but these are the same people who are alleging a conspiracy to commit accounting fraud for over a decade across multiple international firms and government officials and I’m to believe them wholeheartedly when they can’t even address some of the issues I’ve mentioned above? Let alone they had to re-write their FFP charges report when they initially released them bc even those were reported incorrectly. It’s almost like believing a crime occurred, and if you have any questions, ask the blind man as he saw it all. So no, I’m not sure if anything under the circumstances as they stand presently

There are too many players in every team such that paying over 10 million in annual salary is not a possibility when close to half your players are already making close to 10 and above.
