Shirley - I am learning this piece. Bach is his haunting and melodic. Your playing is delightful, and this was extremely helpful. Many thanks and best wishes. James
I have been putting in hours on this. Playing is going good. I've been spending a lot of time on the harmonic analysis, but am puzzled in some spots. It appears that Bach can break up our sense of time with his use of dominant chords. Would you like to compare notes?
Wonderfull music of Bach and wonderfull tutorial, very interisting Thanks a lot Shirley. May I have a question about fingering (thanks for it). Measure 2 why not using 4124-1354124-135 instead of 4124-1243124-124 ?. Looks may be more natural. But You probalby have a good reason which I would like to know. Thanks a lot for your work and publsh it.cuse may en
So fingering is adjustable to the hand.. For my hand, I cannot as well SCULPT the line with the 3-5-4 that works for you. 5-4 does not give the control i need. Though there is no right and wrong here. One should try alternate fingerings to ascertain what can create the "waves" that are inherent in this whole work and keep control/beautiful phrasing.
Good Morning Shirley I just wanted to ask if it would be possible for you to make a video which explains ,in more detail , how to approach the voicing s in Suite 4 Allemande (Bach) page 2 ? As I,m really struggling . Your first video was brilliant and detailed but you seem to have cut the second part short. Thanks if you can Steve Solo
Thanks for sending this request. It's been a while since I revisited this movement and just now I'm trying to keep up with some advanced repertoire my students are working on..so I usually parallel my tutorials with what they are studying. I appreciate your understanding..
I found in my archive.. this slow tempo rendering for fingering of this Allemande-- I noticed that it was private.. But I also see that I slowed up part two...It's an overhead view.ruclips.net/video/B9XSt_doSH8/видео.html
Very happy this video exists.
Shirley your voicing is so beautiful and you have helped so much. Massive thank you!

Thank you for a great tutorial!
Thanks for you kind feedback.
1:55 totally agree, Bach's music is about resoving notes from one to another.
in part, yes.
Hello Mrs. Kirsten, I want to ask that why is the video cut when you're about to explain part 2 in French Suites 4 Allemande. Thank you.
wow you have a lovely voice
Thanks..

I'll check on this later today or this evening when I have time between lessons.

I also just located this rendering from my archive. ruclips.net/video/Ess1WFN2H7A/видео.html
but separating hands is not always a good option since some pieces requires the player to switch hands for voices.
obviously, one would take note of following a line across from one hand to another..which of course happens frequently in Bach's music.
