The snakes can also be a reference to the people who is around him. Powerplays, backstabbing and betrayal. I saw an interview with Travis and he said he was done with both season 4 AND 5, they filmed both in a row before realasing the 4th season. We'll see how this plays out but i think the snakes has another "hidden" message.

Once i saw the snakes... i knew it's gonna be the last season of travis fimmel playing Ragnar, plus Bjorn looks awesome and really capable of taking Ragnar's thrown.

Catnapper i'm aware of that, but the show doesn't follow history to a t, they originally were going to kill ragnar off in season 1, but decided against it. I'm well aware of how ragnar dies and what happens afterwards, but it was because Travis decided that he didn't want to return and renew his contract that they made it this season, rather than drag it out longer, because despite what most people who know ragnar and his sons history, he is a fan favorite and many fans don't want him to leave the show/die yet. I'm well aware that his sons were actually far more famous than he was. There's plenty of articles/interviews where they talk about Travis' decision to leave the show.
Another reason i feel the need to point out Travis' refusal to renew his contract is for those holding out hope that it's just a rumor/belief that he's going to die this season, but won't actually. It's a way of letting the person down gently without giving away actual spoilers to the show, but allowing them to come to terms with the fact that he is indeed leaving.
Ragnar is killed by King aela, thrown into a pit of snakes. Look it up.

+Daniel Black this season is going to be 20 episodes...i think that's what he meant...cuz he said "we filmed two seasons, each season is ten episodes." but it was reported that this season was 20 so he probably just considered it two separate seasons.

I hope snakes are not spoilers ...
For some reason I feel as though we're being trolled. I wouldn't be surprised if Ragnar died this season, especially with the symbolism of snakes since that's how he died. However, in regards to his contract situation unless Michael Hirst himself says this is Travis's final year, I consider everything about him dying as a rumor. He will def die in season 5 if he survives.

+End Is Never except that it's been confirmed that this was travis's last season...sooo they seem to be following history in this aspect.
End Is Never yeah I know, he wanted to focus on his movie career. They're going to do a massive time jump where his sons will be grown...but historically ragnar does die by being thrown into a pit of snakes, and with the ending of that preview it seems they are following that route. Travis said they were originally going to kill him in season one when they thought the show would only be a one season series. And they do plan to continue it with his sons story, as long as they're ratings don't drop. I don't think they'll kill rollo off yet.

Judging by this trailer I don't think Ragnar is going to be on the show much longer.
I have never been a fan of Ragnar. I have always liked Rollo the Walker and King Ecbert more since they both are outcasts willing to do what is needed to reach the Throne and defeat their enemies.

ehh that's true though you have to bare in mind that many of the show is not completely accurate to historical evidence about the vikings, I just thing they are giving way too much in this trailer,

Ragnars sons become kings and much more powerful than Ragnar ever was, Ragnar got jealous of his sons and tried to invade England by himself and he was defeated by King aela and thrown into a pit of snakes. Unless his 3 youngest children are adults in this season I cannot see Ragnar dying, unless they change the story. But I mean they have changed what actually happened in real life considering lagetha wasn't bjorns mum aslaug was. However ragnars sons are all well known in history but there are no records that Ragnar even existed therefore, we don't know if they will kill of Ragnar or not.

Yeah there will be a time jump and the show will carry in with his sons, since historically they were more famous then him...Bjorn, Ivar, and Sigurd, that's why the show focused on them the most and not his other sons. The person who kills ragnar will get a blood eagle, at least historically he did.
