I learned the hard way to never use heat to remove the shields; just grind the edges and use a razor to cut them open. XR motherboards are thin around the nand, and when prying up shields, it will bend it. My new method is to grind off any IC that needs to be replaced because apple underfill gives me nightmares.

Hey Jesse... If youre getting current draw before prompt to boot its always main vdd Boost or bat..all secondary línes are not activated so no current going through them. Was that device not emulating the power supply main line?
Yes it had a short in Yangtze, which is on VDD MAIN, at the beginning of the video.

Always fun to watch! I couldn't remember by the end of the video, but was there a known issue with baseband prior to repair? If you are able to get BB functioning again perhaps some sort of wifi or bluetooth transfer of files just for the backup. Not sure if any of this is an option/is economically viable. Great video!
There was No Power on this phone, so no way to know any other existing issues. Technically, that may have worked to backup via wireless. Although, hindsight is always 20/20.

No, the cap was a VDD MAIN cap. The phone will function fine without them installed.

iPhone XR is waterproof (30 min submerged) and dustproof, so this logic board was already damaged from manufacturer.
Yes, on paper it's "water resistant"

13:53 meter in diode test mode should show the voltage drop across test. In the case of diodes, it should show the junction voltage - anyhow great video 👍
Out of interest, I just put my fluke meter to diode test mode and measured the voltage on the probes with another DC voltage Meter, the open cicuit probes measured just over 7 volts - I have an in circuit cap tester I understand that uses voltages below 0.6V in order to avoid silicon semiconductor junctions switching on and interfering with the test.
