  • Freeman S. Raymond built this stagecoach station in 1872. It was the first homestead in the Indian Wells Valley. In 1889 or 1890 a post office was added. In 1909, the Native Americans who were defending their homes and families killed the homesteaders and burned the station to the ground. Very little is left at the site today. But you can still find rusted metal, square nails, broken pottery, and purple glass fragments scattered in the sand.
