I managed to find and rescue a Sony ICF-24 today at Goodwill. I drive tractor-trailer for them in Myrtle Beach. The radio in question sat in a jumble of electronics. I was on duty so I couldn’t buy it. Unfortunately, it had swollen batteries that were burst at the ends. I took it into the Men’s bathroom and pried out the batteries into the trash. Fortunately, there wasn’t any damage. I put the radio back in the jumble and went on to my next stop. After my run was over I passed by the store and took the chance it was still there, though hours later. Good radios go fast at Goodwill. But, there it was still waiting for me. It works great! $5.99 for my troubles!
I love the radio, but the heavy duty and very still AC cord really is very difficult to put in the case. I have considered opening the radio up and replacing it with a pliable and much thinner cord.
@@todderbert I used about 4 zip ties drawn very tight and made a small enough bundle to get it in. It is not just the size, it is the stiffness as well. Then I use rechargeable AA batteries in the radio, even when near an outlet. They last almost forever and recharge in a few hours. The radio only draws a few watts, a much thinner and more pliable cord would have plenty of current carrying ability. I enjoy your channel, thanks.
Hi Todd I have questions about a 15 watt FM radio station I have czh.none commercial that I play ncs. From the tube do I have to be licensed it only run 2 days a week
What you get here is an excellent portable that gives every other analog of its day a run for the money. The only weakness (and it's a biggie) is it easily overloads if there's an offending signal close by. Otherwise, sensitive, great sound and sips batteries.

I am giving this radio to my Dad today ,is a great radio. Great radio review Todd
Sony ICF-24 is a nice cheap and cheerful AM/FM portable. Mine has worked well for over 20 years.
It is crazy to think these last so long, mine has been plugged in for over twenty years as well.
Sony. The name says it all!
Yardley Bottles
Yeah- not so much maybe anymore.
The new radios are good, but not near what they used to be.
Panasonic is about the same.

The cord is pretty beastly. I have the same issue.

if your in the US you have to. I think anything over 100mw.
Yes sweat these are great
Which one is better on BC band this one or the Sony ICF-38 ???
The ICF-38. It is a larger radio and has a longer ferrite antenna. plus Tone control helps. The 38 is an excellent radio.
If anyone was interested in buying an ICF 24, they're running, on average, between $12 and $20 on ebay.
Older than dirt but great reception

I want the name of the third track. The country sounding one, and where to find it please.
It is in the RUclips Audio Library named: Rural Stride by Josh Kirsch Media Right Productions
If you can find that out for me I would greatly appreciate it dear friend
thats interesting!! do you have any vids telling us about that loop edge?
You can watch my "How to Improve your Reception" video : ruclips.net/video/QhSBptHf2IM/видео.html
Why aren't all radios not using Silicone Labs Radio chips instead of the old technology.
Nice. I like the clean looks. And it’s a [real] Sony.
📻🙂
