    I use the same type on old Ener Con water source heat pumps for temporary service until a new heat pump is installed. A real life saver for residents in a hospital. I like how all the new R410 water source heat pumps come with access fitting on them for service. Thanks for the video

    Two answers. One person asks, can you re use adapter? No, it must stay on the line, because you’re piercing a hole in the line with this part. This part also plugs that hole you made.
    2nd. Someone commented that the epa would frown on not being able to remove Freon, when discarding appliances. Well, this tool is used because there is no port to begin with.

    I've wondered how to get a shrader valve on a closed system, short of cutting and soldering one in-line.

    It might be a good bit of insurance to screw a port cap onto the valve after you finish servicing the system. That will keep dirt and dust out of the valve also. I am curious as to how well that paper gasket really seals against the pipe. I have another older wagner piercing valve that has a different design, you screw the cap on to pierce the pipe and when you take it off it seals so you can put the hose on. Also, around the piercing pin there is a round rubber gasket that I would trust to seal better than a paper gasket.

    The male access port on my Supco BPV31 does not fit with the male 3/8 compression fittings on my Gauge blue hose. What kind of adapter do I need? What is the access port? I tried a SAE 1/4 inch and it didn't fit.

    How would you discharge the system. Doubt EPA wants refrigerant floating around when removing a compressor on a window ac unit.

    • @sirchristopher7684

      Yes, I believe it is supposed to stay on. Basically what you are doing is creating a service port for future use that can be opened and closed.

    Does anyone know why my pressure gauge is reading 70 psi when I open up the piercing valve to get an initial read (with the compressor running).
    Definitely not showing up as negative pressure. I’m 99% positive I’m installed on the suction line.

    • @wiley0714
      @wiley0714 4 месяца назад

      Look up a pressure temperature chart. For the refrigerant your unit uses.
      for example. If the (outside) temperature is 70 degrees you should have 121.4 PSI ( pressure of refrigerant). for an R-22 unit....
      If your reading was 70 psi ( that means your low on charge) so you would add to get the correct pressure for the actual ambient temperature.
      I would suspect that at your psi for example it would be 41f in a r-22 system and you would see ice/freezing on the vapor ( large) line.
      The adapter would go onto the (larger) line referred to as the "vapor" line which in this video he calls the ( suction line).

    The Machining on these Looks extremely crude. Anybody make one in brass, since the line they are going on is copper?

    • @AdrianButler86
      @AdrianButler86 10 месяцев назад +1

      It's good enuff tho cuz it's being pressed onto a soft metal so the soft metal seals the micro channels. It also has a gasket

    • @jima3129
      @jima3129 10 месяцев назад

      @@AdrianButler86 I used some 1500 sandpaper wrapped around a big round carpenters pencil to get rid of the casting imperfections. Mine came with a tiny HNBR oring to seal between the saddle and the copper tube. Worked great. 15 bucks for 2 and a few ounces of 134a and I'm back in business. Freezer down below zero f , fridge at 36f. I charged mine to 7lb on the low side.
