FAB doesn’t end the 3AM waiver thing. It actually increased it in our league cause guys are trying to save on FAB and don’t put as many claims in. Our waiver wire was like 3X as active before we went to FAB.
so the solution is eliminating the free add/drops, which could cause some havoc on game days
@@daverichard1724- that would be a solution, not sure if I could get it to fly in my league though. That would be a pretty big change.
@@chrisd6736 happy medium: FAB as normal ... closed add/drops until Thursday at Noon ET. Thoughts?
@@daverichard1724- ya I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. It would just piss off the few people who are up at 3AM haha.
Is this easy to do as league commissioner? We play in espn.
I’m in two leagues, one is Full PPR the other is Half PPR. I find the half PPR league to be much more balanced, the Full PPR seems to allow almost anyone to win based on one receiver just having a big game. it feels like your team as a whole needs to be better in Half PPR to win anything/win it all
Half is more balanced
@@kelseykjarsgaard5774 agreed
I'll stand up for TE's. LOL. The argument that the position should be retired when Kelce retires is flawed in that the player that scores the most at the position is going away should mean that the position goes away. If anything, the position should be reinforced since the "cheat code" is retiring, moving everyone back to the same level.
except then it might be more of a nuisance than a cheat code ... it's already a cheat code for the manager who drafts Kelce
Several years ago, my league switched its starting lineup to 1 QB, RB, WR, TE, K, and DST with 2 flex spots, and it's been great.
Yes! Two flexes! One for each arm 🦾
-Points for 1st Downs is
Intriguing and seems like a better option than PPR!
-Defensive points for 4th Down Stops is a good idea!
-imho Tight Ends and Kickers are still worthy in Fantasy Lineups!
Awesome show
Hiya Dave - My one league this year gave us two IR spots, which was needed with so many injuries this year. The other league I was in didn't have any, and I agree it definitely made things difficult when three of your RBs got injured for extended lengths of time. I'm also a fan of two Flex spots - it will make last-minute decisions easier (hopefully) and then you can use your backups for the bye-week fillers.
I dig it ... hope others read your comment and apply it to their leagues
I like the tight end position. But I like extra flex spots for extra wide receivers and running backs to be used…
Dave thanks for your input, your JK Dobbins advise got me into the playoffs and got my 1st chip.
YES! Love it. Hopefully more from JK in 23
I've been emailing for years to add a component for turnover on downs! I love the mulligan of a player gets hurt before halftime!!!!
We're working on having this for 2023. Sit tight!
@@daverichard1724 thanks Dave! We've had our league with CBS since 2001 (short break with another website). By far it's the most customizable, easiest to navigate, and holding the league history is cool. Just wish we could get back the history before we made the mistake trying another host for 2 years.
For sure turnover on downs has been the one customizable item lacking...
little did he realize we had Laporta Kincaid Mcbride and Ferguson coming
I like TE Premium scoring with WR/RB/TE flex positions
In our league we have a flex spot and a offensive player spot. That you can put any offensive even another Qb
We like full ppr 2 leagues and 1 league is qb 4 points full ppr as well out of those 3 leagues 1 has an extra flex that can be a WR or TE 1st yr using that and worked also the defense tweaked and gives you more points and has a DP as well so tackles matter lol sucks to lose by a DP but we have been playing like it for 5 yrs
Yes, for both defenses and quarterbacks, get one point for the win, -1 point for the loss…. Or 2-3 points
To De-emphasize Full PPR I implemented QPPC (Quarter point per carry) gets a better balance for WR & RB, works pretty good for my league
That’s not a bad idea but seems pretty similar to non PPR, the only exception is it’s going to give a massive advantage to QBs that run a lot. Like Justin Fields should be the first player off the board.
@@chrisd6736 Agreed, if you're trying to balance out receptions, just pivot to non-PPR
Half ppr I think is a good solution to full ppr. Edit: I don't think TE should be removed. Part of the fun. Less positions less fun imho.
what if you replaced TE with a flex? same amount of positions. And I agree on 0.5
The lineup decision is the crucial part of fantasy which separates the better managers from the weaker. Why i am torn about deciding to change from the traditional 2wr to 3wr. 3wr also has it pros to serperste better mangers as it makes drafting those mid round guys and waivers more crucial. Tough call. To do multiple flex and 3wr is getting close to best ball fantasy which is stupid. Also 1 Ir spot should be the max 2 or more kills the waiver market if you have 12+ teams…. Also if you don’t use FAB your league is not serious. And then I like the idea of a bonus for 20+ Carrie’s for 1/2 and ppr leagues
I have to disagree with the FAB thing on several points. There is a tie exploit in FAB where the guy lower in the standings always wins if both bid the same amount. I like the idea of having free agents that are available to everyone. Someone waiting for waivers to go through to pick up free agents is allowing the best players to go on waivers, so they are getting the players the others didn't want. FAB also benefits the teams at the top of the standings that don't need to fix a bad roster.
How would u set up your league so that is points for, would be first olave.. sorry, it's my first time bn a commissioner
We never had ir spot for keeper league. I stay up late ha
I like a Mulligan spot for every team every week that happens automatically, similar to how best ball works, where that Mulligan spot just gets plugged in on its own….
what if the flex was a best-ball style spot?
The best league I am in starts 2 te... and we do a 20 man league. Most fun I have had playing ff. For people who are serious about ff it allows you to use all that research and watching shows like this to work lol
now that's interesting! what are the other roster requirements?
We do a regular roster. 1 qb. 2 rb 2 te 2 wr 1 flex defense kicker. We did the extra te after yr 1 s a strategy option. Since we had so many people you could build around the te position to try to create an advantage. . Te is usually the position most pay the least attention to and always tons left over in normal leagues .
I like that. In my league if you want an overhaul of fun but also a lot of opportunity to score. My league would be the most complete league. It has 23 starter spots. A total of 32 spots and 3IR spots.
To put simply. It’s a Full ppr superflex, TE premium (2pts), IDP league with Kick/punt return yards. Literally everything you could want or imagine for those who like that stuff. It’s for sure not for beginners lol. I have another league that eases this stuff in so if people wanna dabble.
Both leagues also have custom rules and things you can do in the league that makes you feel like a HC
Points given up by an offense (ie pick six) should not count against your defense.
Also the turnover on downs thing makes WAY too much sense. It should count the same as a normal turnover. Tackles for a loss should also count for something. First downs given up should be a small penalty.
The whole way we score defenses is ridiculous rewarding TDs as highly as we do.
How about points for DFI for the offensive player?
DFI?
I agree with the faab and .5 ppr. Mulligan? In game subs? Nah. Too hard to manage even with an awesome website.
I tried using IR spots on CBS in 2020 during the covid year, and it did not work like it does on other sites. I don't remember exactly what went wrong with it, but we ended up getting rid of it before the season even started.
did you try putting PUP players and others who were out but not IR-eligible on IR? We cleaned it up in 2021 and now we allow customization on which players are allowed on IR
We use 3 flex spots
Love IR Hate FAB Instead of de-emphasize PPR howsabout giving points for carries? I like combined receivers. However, dumping TEs goes against your idea that Fantasy should reflect the NFL. Do we need kickers & DSTs? There was only one time I got my lineup 100% correct. Weirdly it was in the final. (I won).
I dunno, Francis, a lot of teams have ditched using TEs as prominent parts of their offenses.
Yes, half point per catch, half point per receiving or rushing first down…
the Heath combo
More points doesn't automatically equate to more fun. I don't understand where this idea came from. PPR rewards players that catch a lot of short passes for little to no gain.
We do carryovers on bye weeks. Guy scores 25 points the week before he gets 25 points he scores. 7. He gets 7.
that's interesting!
@@daverichard1724 yeah it's pretty fun. Give it a try.
My favorite league has no TE but rather 3 spots for WR/TE combo. Also, why is auction not used more in leagues? FF is so much luck and at least an auction gives u a chance at any player available and also makes each manager manage their auction budget.
I LOVE AUCTIONS AND SHOULD HAVE PREACHED THIS MORE. DAMMIT!!!
@Dave Richard absolutely agree. I know it's a different animal for drafting but it is my preferred choice. And not sure why the big dogs aren't pushing this more.
No on Mulligans
I feel like with mulligans it’s not fantasy football anymore. It’s just best ball.
@@chrisd6736 it does feel that way if you get one a week ... but what about one per month? one per season? I think there's strategy there.
@@daverichard1724- I’m not saying it couldn’t work. It would leave a sour taste in peoples mouths though when you picked all the right players, but lose because you just happened to be playing someone with a mulligan.
@@chrisd6736 yeah that would sting
Completely disagree with the TE take. Must keep a TE position. It’s all part of the strategy.
This and the mulligan idea are the most polarizing. I think the mulligan takes away the spirit of Fantasy BUTTTTTTT allowing one per year does make things a little bit more interesting. It DOES add a bit of strategy.
The mulligan rule is a compete trash idea. How would it make sense to re-set a lineup after games have already started (injury or no injury). Horrible idea
