The best tip from this video was to set a small goal and achieve it. In my head I am way to ambitious. But I took that. I now start with a small step. That way I actually can learn something. I read the code in most tutorials but I can’t reproduce and modify it. So, now I am trying to actually understand it. Very motivating video.
Awesome video and spot on advice. Free art programs include GIMP. What do you use for sounds? (sorry if I missed that, I'm currently playing play doh with my daughter!)
I wanted to avoid the overwhelming Unity UI, but I burned myself using a framework (love2d) because it would take too much time to make every game, and now I am switching to a beginner-friendly engine (gamemaker).
start on a project -> get close to completing said project -> start doubting yourself -> quit working on the project -> start a new project. Infinite cycle
@@GonziHere Godot is an open source game engine that means that I can easily contribute in the making by directly providing code to the Godot Game Engine GitHub. Luckily, godot's made on C++ so I'm gonna grab the files and edit it
lmao my pc is 6 years old, use godot as it is very light weight, gimp and krita, piskel and voila! get something with i3 and a graphics card and you are good to go mind you that my pc specs are: gt 610 core 2 duo e7200 3 gb ram and it is 6+ years old, so literally anything would be good with these programs
Core ain't game engine my guy core dosent allow you to post your game outside core so it wouldn't count as an real engine and its supported by unreal Anyways nice video hope to see more soon
I'd rather deep fry my own head before I try to use GIMP again. It's absolute shite and you won't complain about Photoshop costs ever again. I've also found a lot of CreativeCommons music which is alright as a placeholder, I guess.
The flame was dying out, and this video ignited it to a mass fire, thanks! now I am excited to make games again!
Nice and short...into the point, Great work
Great video Zyger! This will be useful to a lot of people! :D
sup zyger thanks for inspiring us :D

I use audacity and fl studio
Audacity
for sound there is lmms as well and for sprite design theres libresprite.
Note that not all game engines don't need code editors; Godot, for example, has one built-in.
yeah thanks for the comment I just realised. game maker doesn't either xD
Were are you Zyger ?? New video please
I have learnt game development in just few days with help of your course

The next pet is finishing games… we developers… all know how it ends
EDIT: i meant vid.. tf
start on a project -> get close to completing said project -> start doubting yourself -> quit working on the project -> start a new project. Infinite cycle
i basically cant finish my game
how do I start escaping taxes?
now that is a question that im still finding an answer to
I used to make games until I found alot of missing stuff in my engine(Godot), so I started making my own in C++
What's the added value? (as opposed to just forking the Godot and rewrite what you don't like or miss there?)

@@frosty7674 So you are not making your own engine, got it. :)
@@GonziHere yes I'm just making some changes in Godot to make it suit me, the comment was exaggerated
A C++ Extension to Godot! Sounds helpful for some ports to consoles! You should put it on GitHub so people can download it.
nice video :)
Any recommendations for (cheap) laptops for game development?

Nice content.

You can actually get aseprite for free by building it yourself using files given to you by the developers
Almost first
praise github
To make games you need to pay to a dev to make it for you
i love u ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
