Met lead singer, Buster Bloodvessel, in a SKA convention. A hell of a nice person. When I was young and got invited to other kids parties, we always used to dance to Bad Manners version of the 'Can Can' and do the leg dance along with it.
Special brew is a very strong beer in the UK made by carlsberg ,this is a love song dedicated to his love of carlsberg special brew.( very popular drink amongst the young back in the day)
Fond memories of Bad Manners… they were the jokey band of the ska movement… like madness. Some great covers , like ‘the can-can’ and ‘my girl lollipop’ aswell as other great tunes like ‘Lorraine’ , ‘just a feeling’. This tune was their biggest hit - loved dancing to it (at the junior disco) everyone went nuts when the fast bit kicked in!
Thank you guys i hope you are enjoying your musical journey cause I'm loving the reintroductions to old friends this is fun and these guys one of the best gigs I've ever been to happy happy vibes smiling faces everywhere. ska it's an off beat faster than reggae it is the offbeat that makes your feet want to skank the night away this is happy happy music i love it
I read that the lead singer Buster Bloodvessel owns and runs a bed and breakfast hotel on the East coast of the UK called Fatty Towers. A play of words on the John Cleese sit-com Fawlty Towers.
Another great choice. Although Buster Bloodvessel was a larger than life character, the band made some very good music. ""Ne-ne na-na na-na nu-nu", "Lorraine" and "Walking in the Sunshine" are all well worth a listen.
Buster Bloodvessel the man who accidently mooned the pope, they were playing a festival in Italy and there were a bunch of the audience who weren't feeling it so were booing them, Buster responded by getting his ass out not realizing that the pope was in the audience.
Met buster once but my brain went out the window and i ended up not really saying anything. Saw them live three times, fantastic. The song is about beer.
Hi Chris & Cynthia, Gotta love a bit of Bad Manners! Apart from their other well known tracks they also did a great Ska cover of 'When Will I See You Again' by the Three Degrees, Well worth a listen Cheers Jim, Surrey, UK👍
Saw bad manners at a free town centre gig in 96 ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC drinking a four pack of kestrel super strength 9 % tasted like treacle. The town was trashed ,brilliant. This is probably their biggest hit it kept going up and down the charts 🤪🤪🤪🤪
The last time i saw BAD MANNERS SUPPORTING THEM WAS THE MANAGER'S THE OFFBEATS THE WBC THE ROYAL RUMBLE It was awesome. Around that time i saw an ad in the entertainment section of the news paper THE WBC DOORS OPEN 1130 PM so off we go seven of us waiting outside for the doors to open and when they opened the bouncers told us members only .ah? We just want to see the band not become members of what is this club called? The bouncers tell us it's the WINDOM BOWLING CLUB WBC NO BAND'S PLAY HERE.... BOY IT TOOK A LONG LONG TIME TO LIVE THAT ONE DOWN
Like a few others here, i saw the band at a festival once, and danced briefly with Buster in a Reggae tent later that night. I always thought it was something of a pity they had that jokey/novelty image, they were a much better band than that.
I'm a alcoholic and I drink special brew, my liver has fluid on it I'm 41, I'm in councelling but I know I'll die soon, I'm not scared, I keep drinking, I just want to get to the end, when the lights go out then it's final.
Glad you liked this one. A heart-warming story of one man's love for lager 🤣
9% lager 😂
@@gastrickbunsen1957 was 9% now it's 7.5%😥

He's talking about beer...not a girl. Re-listen with this in mind. "All I want is a barrel of you" 🍺

That is hilarious!
The hotel closed in 1998.

Totally agree with tracks you listed above especially Walking in the Sunshine
IS
I remember Buster Bloodvessel being a guest on Tiswas (anarchic UK saturday morning kids' TV show), where he drank a jar of pickled onions 😂
I'd forgotten how many great songs they had!

Bad Manners’ Top Of The Pops performance of ‘Can-Can’ is also worth checking out!
A love to strong lager, favoured by the homeless! Loving your ska journey guys 🏁🏁🏁
She’s like , yeah LOVE IT , he’s like , calm down or I’ll get you thrown out the club 😂🤣

The song is about beer.
I've seen Bad Manners love about 10 years ago at a Ska festival. At one point I used to love Special Brew a little too much...
Bad Manners, what a great band, Special Brew is one of their best songs. 😎

Only bad manners could make a love song about beer.
BM are touring in the UK right now.
Go and see them if you want a good jump around!
Wish we could. Brampton, Ontario is too far away.
One of the best bands live from that punk ska mod scene

All Hail Buster Bloodvessel!
your not in the right party in the UK if bad manners doesn't come on at some point lol
One of my brothers favourite songs. Definitely not one of mine!
Only here for the beer! Ska tastic

That was a nasty drink in the eighties!
