No, it's not. Her voice, like her body got older. This is not the original angelic voice. Completely two different voices. But this is absolutely natural. We all age in time. Even our shadows age!
This is the good side of You Tube. Randomly recommends videos like this. Havent heard this in YEARS. I have to say this was a brilliant performance and I agree, her voice is still as sweet as it was back then
My dear Maggie!!! I have been following you for more than 40 years and every time I hear you sing this song, a huge emotion fills me with memories lived with it! That's the wonderful thing about music!! Thanks for your art!! I love you and I send you a big hug from Patagonia Argentina!!!
I remember when I heard this song for the first time... the hair on my arms standing straight up, as it does when you hear your favorite song for the very first time.
I had no idea Ms Reilly could become even more special than she already was. Sweetness and power fused together; so much talent, so much respect and sensitivity towards her art, and her audience... She is a precious gift to this struggling world.
Yeah, she is great. A quiet lady, with the appearance of the neighbor who offers you tea and pastries, who when sings, turns into the fairy you don't expect...
You often see performers from back then go on stage to sing one of their old hits, to put it diplomatically they should have stayed at home in bed. Here this lady still has the voice, the correct key and sings this song superbly. A real pleasure to watch and listen to. Thank you.
If you mean the correct key because her voice is now slightly deeper, then yes you are correct. It's not in the same key as the original though. The original was in E and this is in E-Flat. (A semitone lower)
Love from Myanmar.I listened this song 20 years ago (when I was a teen) in an album of greatest hits bought at a music album shop in my country. Love it and her voice is almost the same as in the original song
61 years old, watching and rocking out here here tonight in Canada. Can't believe it's been 40 years... Moonlight Shadow and Every time We Touch... Two of my favourite songs ever, er... at least for the last 40 years. :) Kudos Ms. Reilly. 40 years later you're still kicking it and I'm still loving it. Thank you.
I'm a 74 year old Scot and when I listen to this beautiful ballad sang by the gorgeous Maggie Reilly it makes me so proud as this showcases the best of the best of talent in the U.K. and it's no wonder we are the envy of the whole world, this is pure class ! ❤️🙏🏴
This has been my favorite song since I was 12, in 1986. Amazing to hear that Maggies wonderful voice still is amazing after 40 years, this video gave me happy tears. 😍
I was a tender young lad serving overseas in Merry ol' England. I purchased the 45 and treasure it with all my heart. Thank you Mrs Riley for giving me a great way to remember my time in England 🌹❤️
With 2 years listening ,, with 35 now LISTENING ❤️❤️ Blees You Madame Maggie Reilly & Mike Oldfield FOREVER ! Real Music will stay on the world FOREVER !!Hakuna Matata ❤️❤️❤️🎋🍀🌏
When I visited Glasgow, Edinburgh and Kilmarnock in 2019, your voice and music was the only thing I could think about constantly. As a man who was born in the mid 80's, your voice is one of the first voices I remember hearing aside from my mother's. Thank you for your voice, thank you for existing, Ms Reilly.
I grew up with this lovely song .today I am 70 and i loss a few young members to young,i think about them and it help me while doing my duty.makes me sad and happy. thank you Maggie.
The first record I can remember listening to, 40 years ago... I must have played it dozens of times on our old music centre, and I knew all the words by heart. I was only five years old, and thinking about it - it's really not an appropriate song for that age! I didn't care, though, bawling out the words as it played. Then one day my mum produced a large, chunky set of headphones... "These are called headphones", she said, "and they plug in here. You can't sing when wearing them." Amazing, I thought, even though it meant I couldn't sing along any more. Sneaky old mum! And thank you to Maggie Reilly and Mike Oldfield - this will always be "my song".
I’ve loved Mike’s since I was a child (40+ years). MS is one of my favourites. Maggie’s voice is actually even more beautiful now then when first recorded. Goosebumps and gratitude ♥️
This beautiful voice has not aged. I celebrate your artistic integrity above all things. Greetings from your long-time follower, from Balcarce, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Maggie is the best ! I have listened to many other great singers doing this song, but Maggie is absolutely the original and best. Never get tired of her singing and seeing her performing.
Miss (mrs?) Reilly I have listened to this song countless times. I have loved it always and never thought it could get any better. But hearing you sing it some years later is absolutely fantastic. Your voice is grand and I loved seeing you on stage. You made my day, my week, my month and my year! Thank you!
I honestly cant tell you how thrilled I was to discover Maggie Reilly was a fellow Scot. My older brothers girlfriend at the time bought him this single. After they broke up he never ever played it. I used to sneak in his room and play it because i loved it so much. Everytime i hear it it brings back treasured memories of a childhood and a world where life was so much simpler. Thanks Mike and Maggie.....
She still sounds absolutely brilliant. I remember buying the album Crises and this single the day they came out as I was an avid Mike Oldfield fan. Thanks for posting this.
After my daughter was born, I got back into Mike Oldfield's music mainly to help my girl fall asleep and simply expose her to amazing music. When she was in preschool, she came to love this song. She's 12 now and occasionally this song will come on a shuffle and I can see a smile on her face. She's musically inclined like me and her mom, and I can totally see her and I performing this song at some point! Maggie still has it, thanks for your gift!
@@Mannizilla Haha! Yeah... The Songs of Distant Earth was one she used to fall asleep to. She also really liked "The Bell". I have a video of her as a toddler "playing piano" to this song and I strongly believe that it helped her learn different musical sounds. As I said in my OP, she's very musically gifted.
For a moment it was like being in a time machine. I remember just being a young kid with one of the first records i ever bought in my hands. Listening to the song and her voice over and over again without a care in the world and my whole life in front of me. And now im here so many years later. Wondering what happended.
Maggie Reilly is truly a legend. I heard her sing when it (the song) was released and 40 years down the line still enjoying it even when I'm nearing 70 years being born a few months apart from her. Long may she sing and live. Hats off to her.❤

A wonderful great pop song, but I've enjoyed many other songs as well: To France, Tricks of the Light (a super great song!!), Family Man, Orabidoo, Foreign Affair, Crystal Gazing, all these songs impossible without Maggie's wonderful voice and talent, I've been enjoying them for decades and will love them forever!
This video appeared on my feed for some unknown logarithmic reason and I knew the tune from my days of listening to Mike Oldfield in the '80s. I figured this will be a tired old song sung by a tired old singer trying to stay relevant beyond the use by date. I was wrong... so very wrong. This whole performance by all involved was amazing and pure joy to watch. Every note, every beat was perfect. It reminded me of what music used to be, what it still is when played like this without the AI, without the autotune and without the damned horrible pitch correction that modern music relies on so heavily. My apologies to Maggie for my uneducated initial reaction. You are awesome!
Maggie is really the only the voice for this song always has been
Maggy, even if you're not the little girl anymore, your voice still sounds wonderful ;-)
