    another nice vid... i was a switchman for chicago and northwestern... we had a yard job just like this, caboose and all... but it's funny because some guys didn't always take the caboose because they hated putting it away afterwards... i know that sounds crazy to a layperson but it's a real thing, guys hated that one extra move of putting it away... me personally i almost always used it because that job had facing and trailing customers so we would have cars on both ends of the loco and the shoves were close to 2-3 miles long... but afterwards i to hated putting it away LOL

      Thanks for subscribing Greg! The tank car was left in the yard for this operation. Thanks again and glad you enjoy the videos!

    Great video. Is that an Athearn Genesis caboose? If so, how'd you get the red light so bright?

      Thanks! Yep that’s the Genesis model. The lighting is standard out of the box.

    Good video.. I take it you're using automatic uncouplers? How many do you have on the layout??

    • @milepost33
      @milepost33  10 месяцев назад

      Actually I do not use the automatic uncouplers on this layout. I use a skewer stick in between the cars to manually uncouple them.

    • @milepost33
      @milepost33  10 месяцев назад

      No automatic uncouplers on the layout. I use a skewer to uncouple the cars and edit it out for the video.

    Bad order that ttx box car. Looks like you got a bad roller bearing cap on thr rear part of that back truck

      @milepost33  11 месяцев назад +1

      Ha ha! Man those things come off easy sometimes!

    • @joenewstead4848
      @joenewstead4848 11 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah I have heard that. People love the details myself included. But the number one complaint I hear is the wheels too thin or the roller bearing caps come off unexpectedly and you should have spares

    I'm still hoping you can make a video or post about your track plan and construction methods. Ive been struggling with some ideas for my personal layout and mine is very similar in size to yours with the exception of me not having a second level. But that might change this winter. Great video as always

      I need to figure out how to make a nice looking track plan. I am working on it though. As far as your plan, definitely take !the time to figure out what type of operation a you like. In my case I like the branch line aspect but you can still run trains continuously on the layout. There’s so many things I would do different. Stay tuned for the video!

      @jasonjanise 10 месяцев назад

      @milepost33 well that's pretty much would I am going for. I would definitely like there to be plenty of switching so your design is a lot what I have sort of in mind but having a vision and putting it down are two different things as you know. Of course I'd like a giant sized space to have a big layout but I have what I have and want to make the most of it

    Those paper rolls look really good. How did you make them?

    • @milepost33
      @milepost33  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! All I did was cut some dowel rods to size and painted them brown. I then cut up address labels really small to create the labels for the rolls.

      @milepost33 I absolutely adore your layout. The money and time that you put into this must took you years to make all this. I haven't had a model railroading layout since I was a kid. Watching this is definitely making me think about starting my own layout. But room is a problem because I live in a apartment not a house. So if I was going to start a layout? It would probably have to be N Scale To maximize how much Track I could actually use.
