That CB was so familiar sounding. My buddy had one he had bored out to 900cc. Use to barely be able to out run him with my KZ900. Also that wonderful HB810 needs a steeper hill. Two-strokes forever!
Hillclimbing was the original form of motorcycle racing. Did a lot of it as a kid. Of course there were not long swing arms back then but my Tiger Cub was pretty good. Coming back down the hill was the hardest part. Friend bought an H2 we all rode it , it went over backwards on several including me.
Ye-e-ears and years ago (late '70's I think) I saw a hillclimb where Canadian John Williams rode his Honda 500 on open pipes and fuel and the sound just blew my mind, first time hearing something bigger than a model ariplane engine running on nitromethane - YIKES. But at that event, the fastest bike up the hill by a long shot was an XR-750 HD that just rumbled and seemed to hook up all the way, he crested the hill just flying.
The guy on the XR750 is built for the hill climb, He's got his belly working for him, you have to throw all your weight forward when you start to climb so when you get close to the top the bike won't come out from under you. You can tell he's done this a time or two.
I don't think riding a 125 is a disadvantage. I have owned everything from 100 cc Harley Bajas to KX 500s. Dont think i ever rode anything faster, than i did my little RMs and KX 125s. Now pushing 80 years old and still have a YZ and a XT 500 ready to go.😊
Exactly........I loved that XR750......but couldn't help rooting for the H2. I had the 550 triple as a young man..... fastest stoplight to stoplight ever. 😁

CB750 sounded wicked! 2nd jump got him. That looks like the hardest part. To try not to lose any speed over it and send it into the next county!
Too heavy for hill climbing but a good street bike.
I'll give the HD the Best of Show award. Even though my H2 used to regularly try to kill me I do miss it.

When I was young in the mid to late 60s my dad was into hill climbing and there was no jumps on the hill. I think the jumps are uncalled for
