Donkey Kong is the property of Nintendo
So K. Rool was announced for Smash Ultimate. In the trailer, as non canon as it may be, he seems back to his normal proud self. He's taken what he's learned and honed in on his primal instincts. The King is back and he is here to stay.
Personally I don't really think so because his final smash is him destroying DK island which shows that he is still out for revenge.
Oh yeah, absolutely! He's still wanting revenge but he's at least aware enough to be himself.

But look at the way he crawls around and roars. He isn't the eloquent king he used to be, he completly lost it. All that's on his mind is revenge.
He didn't kidnap DK, he didn't create a sophisticated robot to go after him, he just ran to his house ready to tear him to hairy pieces. He wants blood now, maybe after he gets his revenge, he will start working towards getting back his old life, or just let himself rest.
Maybe you're right. I mentioned he was tapping into his primal instincts but maybe it's even more than that. I love this so much.

His portrayal in smash ultimate fits this analysis perfectly too. In his trailer, he doesn't even care anymore. He's just running on all fours determined to kill the kongs. No finesse, just pure primal instinct and insanity. His moves come from all the main games he's been in, also showing he isn't all there anymore because his identity is now split between the different pivotal moments of failure throughout his life.

It probably won't happen. K. Rool hates Bowser. They have bad chemistry in Mario Super Sluggers (K. Rool's last appearance before Ultimate).

Truly saddening that with each time he's defeated, his sanity crumbles more and more, until he's nothing but a loon wanting nothing more but to maul the Kongs. However you forgot to mention his lack of appearances being possibly due to the fact that the Kremlings found a new king or a darker alternative, have the Kremling Kingdom be destroyed, completely in ruins. Or the Great Ape War, and how K Rool contributed there (if at all). Or even why even though now K Rool desires to destroy the Kongs by any means necessary, he's willing to race and play baseball with them. Good video altogether though.
K Rool is the best king in Nintendo next to King Dedede imo, and I'm glad that someone can make the guy atleast somewhat sympathetic.

If the new Smash has a story mode, we may be up for a treat with this king.
Nintendo has many alternate universes. Some have DK being the bad guy. The K. Rool we know actually fought Donkey Kong the Third. The original DK Country games were set decades after Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. That's why he is willing to play sports with them, in that universe he never fought them. Well either that or the Shinto goddess Princes Peach Toadstool demanded he play, or he simply decided to in order to regain some of his prestige. Watch Gaijin Goomba's Culture Exchange. She really is a goddess.

Almost 3 years later, I come back to watch this as a week ago King K. Rool was announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. One of K. Rool's means of locomotion in the game has him running on all fours like a real predator which we've never seen him do before. The instant I saw K. Rool charging at DK on all fours, I thought back to this video and realized that the trailer gave this video a feeling of validity on the theory of K. Rool's deteriorating sanity. Well played sir.

Holy fuck, your ability to convincingly present a cohesive, even moving, story with such abstract stuff to work with is a wonder!
Interesting theory, though it still gives the Kongs justification for their actions. After all, this whole thing started because K. Rool wanted the materials on the Kong's island, and used only force to get them.
Now, if K. Rool had just offered DK some bananas in exchange for mining rights, it's likely none of this would've happened. It couldn't have been TOO hard for him to acquire bananas that the Kongs DIDN'T already own after all, and DK's appetite for them is quite literally insatiable.

I don't get it Nintendo Took King K. Rool Away He's The Perfect Donkey Kong Villain Not anyone else I just don't like that Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze Villain's Cause if they Replace King K. Rool and The Kremelings? I would be kinda irritated of that.

Fredrik is k rool in a walrus costume probably. In the switch port of tropical freeze he would have been added but nintendo said "they had plans for him". (Smash) There would be no other way that could have made more sense.
I have a different take on this but it is somewhat similar. For 3 games (6 if you count the Land games) K. Rool was just stalling when you think about it. Stealing bananas and occasionally kidnapping Kongs. Namely DK and Diddy. It at first seemed to be all fun and games. K. Rool and his minions were serving more as irritants then anything else but K. Rool and his lackeys were merely distracting the Kongs so the Kremlings could go farther along with their main objective. What was it? Well if you play DK64 you get this line of dialogue between K. Rool and a Klump. "I want you to do anything in your power to keep Donkey Kong disrupted. Steal that hoard of golden bananas he treasures so much and take care of his flea bitten friends. This time I want no mistakes." Then the Klump says "Oh you cannot say. For we have them taken care of prisoner." The Klump reveals all the Kongs except DK at least those that are deemed a threat and they are locked up not counting DK. K. Rool is then like "I hope for your sake your right this time." Everything that took place 3 games prior to DK64 was merely K. Rool just buying time for his master plan which is the total destruction of DK Isle using the Blast O Matic but odds are that he wouldn't stop there. He would then blast other locations on the Mushroom World planet as well. Mushroom Kingdom, Dinosaur Land, The Bean Bean Kingdom, Rougeport and it's surrounding areas, Sarasaland, Isle Delfino, Diamond City etc. Heck maybe even Dark Land after all he has to remove any potential competitors to his reign and that includes Bowser. You are basically talking about an energy cannon that can destroy land masses. K. Rool would go on a destruction spree with that thing and there would be no stopping him. With the Blast O Matic destroyed K. Rool resorted to a back up plan which involved using the power of the Crystal Bananas to become like a god. K. Rool wants to dominate the world yet DK keeps foiling his plans before he could achieve it.
I know this is a late response, but I’d love it if there was a Mario game that had King K. Rool trying to destroy all the kingdoms in the mushroom world, with Mario & Donkey Kong deciding to work together to defeat K. Rool.

What If k rool Is the good guy , and he gives the bosses the bananas so they don't stave to death because donkey kong and Diddy took all the bananas off the island so he gives them to all the " enemies and the bosses" but that's just a theory a game theory

So basically King K Rool just wanted to distract the Kong's from disrupting his work to help his people. But his failure time and time again against the Kong's drove him near completely insane. That's pretty dark imo.

If all he wanted was to starve them he would have taken the bananas to himself, but he didn't because then the Kongs would end up looking for him inmediately. So he used the bananas to get the strongest animls of the island to defeat Donkey Kong and Diddy for him, or at least keep them busy for enough time that they either starve, or the mining operation is complete.
They said it wasn't possible...
It took three years but it's announced and its gonna happen, King K.Rool is going to be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Wanting to starve the kongs to death for any reason, fits into why I have he hates them.
This is just incredible. I love the community behind these games and the love put into these games by the developers.
to me it seems like he took all of the bananas and distributed them across the land because the kongs were just stockpiling them and being greedy. He was trying to be a nice guy and pull a robin hood, but the kongs always beat him and took them back.
K.Rool is the hero and DK the villian... perhaps?

Too bad Nintendo kind of had King K. Rool retire as the main villain within the Donkey Kong franchise but having him join team DK in Mario Sluggers and a playable character in the Super Smash Brothers series does somewhat make up for the fact that King K. Rool was placed on the back burner for Donkey Kong and his friends.

The games were originally about the so called banana wars. I don't quite get all of it but America was involved in South America and K. Rool was based on one of our presidents, hence the constant representations of US military. As for the character himself, I'd have to agree with you.

I just found something out in smash bros brwal, if you read the discribtion of the King K. Rool trophy, Kaptain K.Rool is named as his brother
King k rool stole the banana horde to starve the kongs and has no interest in the bananas in question. The horde may be owned by dk and diddy but they do share these bananas and i say this because of k rool's reasoning for stealing them in the first place, which is to starve the kong"s . Dk and Diddy protects the horde, the bananas themselves are not normal bananas, each of them posses magical properties (this was shown in dkc returns) which k rool more than likely learned from wrinkly kong (king k rool was once a her student).Also in dkc3 king k rool even stated that kaos (the robot he created) was his ticket to world domination. He is clearly very evil and he even mistreats his own allies.
Edit: also it even states here and in the games that the hoard is for the kong family in case anyone was wondering

It could just be a combination of k rool underestimating dk and the kong family and k rool being overconfident, thinking he would have time to repair his blast o matic, wanting to go through with his plan to blow up the island instead of killing them himself without it .

The idea of K. Rool putting others through misery and strife (i.e. the Kongs) to make his own people live a better life is pretty reflective of what has happened in real life plenty of times, although in real life a lot of rulers only act as if they care about their people, as a ruse.
