- Yxalag - seven young musicians who encountered the world of Klezmer for the first time in November 2008. They soon were fascinated by the different ways of expression offered by this emotional and virtuous music. On their successful debut album “Klezmer Tales” - A Yiddische Mame” they focus on their own interpretations of Klezmer traditionals and compositions from the current Klezmer scene. The untamed musical enthusiasm one can enjoy on this album and by which their audience gets enchanted have become their musical trademark.
After four years of making music together they have now found their own way and sound. While Klezmer standards still belong to their repertoire, this has been broadened by their own compositions. Seven friends have embarked on a musical journey using their classical education and their joy of playing genuine Klezmorim; they created their own sound which combines influences from a great variety of cultural backgrounds without any breaks, be it classic Fugue, Bossa, Tango, Musette, Balkan Beat or the melancholy so typical for Russian tunes. The seven friends trust their instincts when making arrangements with the aim to create sounds that are able to touch your soul.
Yogi Jockusch, an inspiring world music percussionist from Hamburg, joined the ensemble as well!
