If this gets in the DLC I'm going to have a mental breakdown. Perferably the good kind.
Unfortunately it’s more likely to be Wii’s, realistically, considering I imagine there will be 1 more rainbow road remade, being the final track of the spiny cup
If it's the Wii version, I donmt mind. I grew up with Mario Kart Wii as well, and I love that Rainbow Road to death, but Double Dash' Rainbow Road is special to me. I'm gonna keep wishing though.

Nintendo missed out on a big opportunity here: the whole track basically screams "anti gravity"

If they didn’t screw up in retro tracks from DS to 7, then this could have been a right oppertunity. I watched a video by Atomic Quinc to show how it could have happened

Thank you! In an update it'll look better, I've figured out how to make the changing colors blend together, akin to the effect in 3ds rainbow road
There are only two main areas of criticism that I can think of. One of them is that the glider thing where it takes ages to get to the top, then does that weird slow thing for ages at the end (the same happens with Wii Rainbow Road). If it's possible, the speed when you go up the pipe should be much faster, probably twice as fast. The other, and the main thing IMO, is that while the course looks nice, as a whole.... it doesn't really feel or look like a "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" track. It just looks like it was literally ported from the original, with a few minor lighting and some minor texture improvements. However, this has been a thing with 90% of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe custom retro courses. So many of them are literal ports, that don't look like MK8 courses. They don't have to be on the level of FunkyRacer's "SNES Ghost Valley 2" remake where it looks so different that, other than the course layout, but something like Rimea's SNES Mario Circuit 2 (which is graphically based on SNES Battle Course 1).
Honestly I've gotten better at ct making and feel I could totally redo this to feel a lot more like mario kart 8. If I were to redo it, I'd redo it all from the ground up. No track port, an actual competent remake. We'll have to see if I end up going through with it, since I have a lot on the backburner right now that I'd like to finish, but we'll see

You did absolutely amazing on this track but the lighting needs to be fixed but apart from that you did an awesome job on designing this track

Final Wave should have this course as the final as a indication the next Mario Kart could be doubles

IF This Track Were To Appear In The Booster Course Pass, Then It Could Be In The Fruit, Boomerang, Cherry, Feather, Or Acorn Cup, But Not As The Final Course Similar To SNES Rainbow Road, Which Is The Second Course In The Triforce Cup.

0:42 This ramp could’ve easily been a glider ramp, bit of a missed opportunity by the creator there.
I thought about it but the super long stretched dash panels are honestly way more unique and interesting than the 40th instance of a glider ramp in the game, plus there's already a glider in the form of the cannon.
Can somebody please remake this in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and add half-pipes on the 2 u turns at the beginning of the track? I'd like to see that. Oh, and try to make the cannon section shorter and make the whole track anti gravity like in Wii Rainbow Road.
The lighting on the characters looks kinda off, sorta cel-shaded, but the track itself is great stuff nonetheless.
Surely we'll see this on the hypothetical next console Mario Kart... right?

I think it would have made more sense to convert the stretch at 0:43 into a glider segment.
I considered it but I figured the long dash panel was just much more memorable and unique, whereas replacing it with a glider section would've just made it less interesting

If the prefix leak still holds up then there aren’t anymore wii tracks, which could mean this. We could actually get this. Nintendo please give us this.
Right now we're assuming that moonview replaced mushroom bridge so wii rr is probably still a go
So Moonview replaced an unknown nitro track (one that likely didn't exist to begin with or was scrapped early on), so yeah... About that...

I created a dds texture of the road with custom mipmaps so that it changes colors based on how far away the road is

There's another thing you can do where if you set the texture filter of the road texture to linear, or something along those lines you can totally recreate the road effect seen in 3ds rainbow road. I wanted to use this, but didn't know how to at the time, so if you wanna mess with the style of the road that's something you can do

Make it to 3 laps. Not a fan of seeing almost retro course get simplified to one or two laps only. Make it three as the original should be.
Tracks should be around 2-3-ish minutes long. GCN Rainbow Road is on the long side and it needs to be 2 laps to keep it from getting boring because mind you, all of the gameplay is in 200cc
im praying that the final cup is the final 4 rainbow roads we don't have, if nintendo is smart, they'll do that, but they also might wanna save some for mario kart 9 (or 10 if tour counts as 9)

@ampixxy hate to burst your hope but there are too many data mined tracks for that to be the case. Piranha plant cove, piranha plant pipeline, madrid drive and Rome Avanti are guaranteed to be in the bcp, and there's still a snes course slot (most likely snes bowser's castle) and a gcn course slot (most likely dk mountain), along with the final wii course (rainbow road of course), so that only leaves a single slot, which is probably a non-rainbow road retro

This track is pretty long that butchering it into 2 laps isn’t a bad idea.
