A very cool video guys I appreciate it, right now I'm designing my house boat to put out on the Columbia river, hope to see you guys be safe be inspired.
You're braver than I -- skinny-dipping in COLD Columbia River water that made its way from the Rockies all winter long down to the estuary. If it's June that water is still gonna be freezing cold. I'd be more apt to try it in September there, but even then it's a bit chilly.
Too far for one day. You don’t want to be navigating the Columbia River in the dark. Break up the trip by spending the night tied up to the docks at Sand Island, at Saint Helens. There’s a lot of current, but the dock is free, and the island is beautiful and home to osprey.
really liked how you layered the audio! Nature noises over drone footage works rather well.

What kind of sailboat? What kind of dingy? Thanks for posting and responding.
Miette is a 1990 Island Packet 32. The dinghy is a Bic Sportyak, which we either row or mount with a 2.5hp 4-stroke outboard
I've sailed the Columbia River Astoria to Portland many times I really enjoyed your video I hope to see more of them
It was a beautiful trip! We have lots more videos on our channel... We've now sailed almost 5,000 miles since then! Cheers
Is it doable to get from Portland to Astoria in a full day? Or do you recommend splitting it into 2 days? If so where did you drop anchor?

What dingy is that?
It’s a Bic Sportyak. It’s a tough little tank!
Was this trip actually in June and was this a representation of the weather?
Yes! We left Portland in June 2021, and left Astoria a few weeks after. From what we know, this is weather typical of the season
@@SVMiette As an oregonian native, yes.
It was a wetter year that the last couple, but it's entirely within normal.
