Garelli Monza 40th Anniversary Outing

On August Bank Holiday Monday, I had arranged a special ringing Outing to commemorate a significant personal achievement, and also a tribute of thanksgiving for the life of my father, who passed away in July 2016 after a short illness. The Outing featured on my 47 year-old Garelli Monza (a very rare Italian 50cc Motorcycle) that I acquired exactly 40 years ago.
If it weren’t for Dad none of this would have happened, as he played a pivotal roll in its restoration.
The Outing was very well supported with ringing friends old and new and my daughter Lizzie and ‘Uncle & Aunt’ David & Rita Hughes as family members. We had excellent weather all day long; it was the best August Bank Holiday Monday for many years. As with any Ringing Outing there are cost’s involved in organisation, but after donations we were in profit by £100 - which will be going to Cancer Research UK. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. I may well do something similar to mark the 50th Anniversary in 2027… make a note in your diaries!

Wow brings the memories flooding back Steve ! I had one of the first Monza mopeds brought into the country in April 72 , had the stupid pedals for the new law , that sound is just so unique to the Garelli , looked very similar to yours apart from mine had a red tank and exposed spring rear shocks , headlamp was not round and no drop bars , used to fly for a 50 and eat all the other mopeds ! thank you so much for sharing and taking me back ! :o)
