We've been vacation in Puerto Vallarta for years. If there is anything you want to know about PV, I'm your girl. Ask away!!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS we will be there in 2 days! Going for 2 weeks. We will be staying at all inclusive but would love to get off the resort and eat at some local places. I would LOVE to hear what the cost of your meals are! What is the best way to get around when you can walk? Taxi, Uber...?
If you are staying in an all inclusive resort....I'm assuming you are in the Nuevo Vallarta area near the marina and airport. I am most familiar with the Romantic Zone in Old Town. In this area, you can walk anywhere and everywhere. Ubers are available (we actually used Uber 3 times while we were there). One of those trips was to Sams Club near the airport and the Uber cost was $9. So it will basically cost you $9 to get from your resort to the Romantic Zone. I can certainly share with you my list of favorite restaurants. If you follow me on Instagram, send me a DM. I'll shoot you back my list. Our dinner meals typically average $35-45 for a wonderful meal and cocktails. The deeper into the Romantic Zone you go....the less expensive the food it (but the quality of the food gets better!). The tourist areas are always more expensive and food more "general". But to name a few of my favorite eating spots: Las Gueras Taqueria (show in this video with al pastor tacos), Mariscos Seafood (fresh local seafood), La Dolce Vita (fresh Italian....and they have 2 locations), Derby City Burgers (if you need a great burger), Joe Jacks Fish Shack (cool happening place with great food and cocktails), and Freddy Tuscan (breakfast). Oh and.....you MUST go to Florios Downtown where everything is cooked in a brick oven (seafood, pasta, pizza). This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants! And my list goes on and on.....
And since you are going to be there for 2 weeks, I can tell you some things you absolutely must do. I have another video coming out next week sharing my favorite things to do...but you will already be there. We've been vacationing in PV every winter for many years so I'm very familiar with the city. It's my favorite place on earth! Send me a DM on Instagram :)
Enjoy every single moment!!!.. your husband is such a nice guy, just so sweet to be included in all these videos.... you are looking fabulous!... enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!💜💜💜💜💜
Thanks Linda! I'll tell you....I actually stopped filming our 2nd week there because we were over it! It's a lot of work to catch everything on film...so I stopped. I have 2 more videos coming out about our vacation....but I just didn't get the chance to share everything with y'all. Sorry!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS no need to be sorry!!!... enjoy your time with your husband!... that is most important!!!... you are so sweet!!!..and your hair and you are looking fabulous during vacay!!!!!!💜💜💜💜
The little hole in the walls always seem to have the best food! Your hair looks so pretty when you went out to dinner. Thanks for this video, I may never get to Puerto Vallarta but I enjoyed living vicariously through you.
Thanks Carolyn!! I have 2 more videos coming out soon....so you’ll get to see a lot more of Puerto Vallarta including some of my favorite things to do while we’re there 😊
Thank you for posting your lovely vacay!!! And the food...🤤🤤🤤
I'm not necessarily a beach 🏖️ person but after watching this I would consider going again!!!
We live about 4 hours east. South of Guadalajara. Spicy-hot in Spanish: picante. Those berries come from the fields on Lake Chapala - we get ¨seconds¨ for 40-50 pesos (~$2)
Oh Randy...man of few lil words on most videos. I really got to see him shine thru on this vaca..i can tell he's a funny, good man! I'm new to your channel, I just love watching u renee, your family, your dogs, and your grey curls. Keep me laughing!
Well.....let me tell you....Randy is not a man of few words. He loves to talk. Will talk to anybody. Talks my head off. And has never met a stranger. But when the camera is on him, he clams up like no other!!! 😂 I find it’s best to capture him in the background or when he makes random comments. But he is a sweet energetic guy who loves to talk ❤️
Renee these are WONDERFUL! Great job, miss Lady!
I am enjoying your puerto vallarta trip, tysm. Renee, you are a most interesting narrator.
Great video THANKS for your tour it was sooo Fantastic 👍🏼👍🏼♥️
Glad you enjoyed it
Such a nice place where you’re vacationing and it doesn’t matter what you eat because you will burn it off by walking.
We walk EVERYWHERE!! We did have to take an Uber a few times to far away dinner spots....but otherwise we walk. The streets are all cobblestone and tough stuff! And I swear all streets go up-hill. LOL
Eating Doritos and drinking beer sounds like fun and yes I agree with the Doritos do taste different!
Aww it's gorg! Never been there, but as a kid from Cali, we used to go to Tijuana all the time. The sights, sounds & food are amazing in Mexico! Hope you guys had a blast!
Great video. Have my trip booked to PV this July, looking forward to it. Staying in the romantic zone as well. Thanks for the great recommendations.
Hi! I have several newer videos on my channel from when I visited in PV this past winter. Check those out!
Thank u for taking us with you! looks nice! Your hair looks really great too, when I am on a beach vaca my hair is always a hot mess, dry and unruly due to salt water. In Jamaica I discovered Jamaican castor oil, and applied some daily on the beach...my new GO TO trick for my next beach vaca. Enjoy your time with hubby; we cannot do adults only trips yet..LOL ...kids to young!
Randy and I have always taken one trip a year without the kids. When they were young, we left them with family. Now they are all grown up and can take care of themselves. You should try it! It's wonderful for your marriage!
What a beautiful place to be. Relax and enjoy which I'm sure you are doing! ❤️👍🏻🤗
Yesssssss ma’am. 💕
Oh my gosh, I enjoyed this so much! We’ve never been there so it was nice to see everything! The food!!!! Only thing - when y’all went down all those steps, tell me you didn’t have to go back up them!! 😍😍😍😍
One of my favorite places! 💗
I been there, loved it. Beautiful, just beautiful.
It really is! My favorite place ever :)
Sounds like an amazing place to vacation! Enjoy!!
We absolutely love it here! ❤️
Another wonderful video, 🌞
Now I want to go to Puerto Vallarta MX
I wish! Lovely video!
Beautiful there
Watching this in August 2020! Our Key West vacation was cancelled this year😷 It was so nice to see you’all enjoying yourselves 🌞☀️🌴
Thanks you my friend 💕💕💗😘
Your hair looks beautiful....so much great information. Thank you so much for sharing. I always wanted to go to PV, but not to the high rise hotels.😊💕
Excellent video
Great job on the Video. Really enjoyed it on this cold rainy day on the NC coast.
Thanks for let me show you around my favorite city! 🇲🇽
You're making me want to travel to Puerto Vallarta. I just love Mexico! My partner traveled a lot to Mexico (Guadalajara) for work before the dreaded C-vid hit and I was going to travel with him but since his travels are on hold we both are so ready to get out of here. I can't really complain though, we live in South Florida where the weather is mostly tropical all year but no matter where you live, you need a vacation!
Love your videos!
Thanks so much! You should absolutely book a trip to PV. It's my favorite place in the world 💗
I am a huge fan of all your videos but I must say, in my humble opinion, you should do more travel videos once traveling has opened back up. I loved your vacation videos. You truly are good at it. When I travel I enjoy eating outside of the 5 star resorts most of the travel video's contain. Show me the culture and where the people are and where I can have a good time and a good meal without breaking the bank. I was surprised how economically you can go to Paris or Normandy....Normandy where I feel every American should visit at least once.....ALL for cheaper than a family of 4 spends on a week long vacation to Disney World. Seriously. Instead of Epcot why not the real thing? Anyway I am rambling....love you and your family.
🌴🏖😎🥰Chris. ♥️
Looks like a beautiful and fun vacation! And your hubby is such a good sport to let you film! Please tell me that you didn't have to walk back up all those stairs?!
We DID have to walk back up those stairs!! But the next day we discovered a shorter quicker route down to the beach that wasn't as steep. Thanks goodness!!!!
Can't wait to try Romantica Churros. Around the corner from where I'll be staying.
*Hi Little Lady. I ❤ Vallarta Too!*
🏖🌴🏖😎♥️🌻Chris. ☮️
I’m loving these vids Rene. LeArning a lot also.
Looks beautiful and relaxing I am going to visit my family in Puerto Rico in May
Ooooo....I’ve never been there but I’ve heard it’s beautiful!
Gotta luv it! A romantic beach in PV that literally translates as “Beach of the Dead” (Playa Los Muertos) 😀 The puerco al pastor looks delicious! Thank you for sharing your wonderful vacation with us. Safe travels!
Ooooo.....Las Gueras has THE BEST al pastor! The "romantic zone" is the name for a certain area in Puerto Vallarta. It's more local...no big hotels. It's on the opposite end of the city from Nuevo Vallarta which is where the marina, large hotel chains, and tourist area is. I love the Romantic Zone for its Mexican charm and authenticity. My fav place!
WELCOME TO MY CURLS --How fun! What a wonderful place to be--anytime-- but enjoying PV with your husband, when it’s winter in the states, that’s got to be the best! 😎
Thank you for your prompt response. Can't wait to arrive in PV
Wish I was going with ya!! Have a wonderful time. Puerto Vallarta is lovely this time of year ❤️
Great town fell in love with this city 20 yrs. ago. I usually come here twice a year.
Who would have thought that within 1 month of your trip OUR WORLD WOULD CHANGE FOREVER with QUARANTINE and limited travel due to the CORONA VIRUS. Good thing that you did not take a cruise! LOL! Glad you made this video to document the FREEDOM of travel we once knew in a world without having to wear a mask. Love this video. 😁
We always have a great vacation in PV and are going back in January again. I’ll be sure to share how everything has changed 😊
Oh you make me so jealous! It's cold and snowy here in Colorado! That food looked sooooo good! Have fun!
Oh yes, I just wanted to add… you have the most incredibly beautiful skin!!!! Girl, I’m pea-green with envy.
My man and I were scheduled to go on a cruise 8 days and 7 nights starting on the 24th October, leaving from Aberdeen Scotland around the South of Norway visiting Bergan, Oslo, Kristiansand and other places but because to Covid 19 it's been cancelled. Renee to say we are bummed is an understatement so I'm living vicariously through you n Randy lol Thank you for this from 7 months ago. Looks like you had fun xxx
That sucks!!!! And I'm sorry to hear that your vacation was cancelled. I'm actually heading to the beach in a few weeks and they dogs are going too. So you can get more beach time via me coming up shortly 🏖
I’ve been to a few different places in Mexico, but Puerto Vallerta is my favorite. Did you do any of the day trips by boat? So much fun!
♥️♥️♥️😎Chris 🌴🏖
13:31 *I'll have to try that place when I visit PV this winter. Churros & ice cream sound like a good idea. Not sure if you know but people in Spain & Mexico like to dip churros in hot chocolate. Give it a try!*
Rene you take of Randy cut please 👍👍💕💕💕
Looks like a great place to vacation. I would have loved your dinner and the dessert. Is it an economical place to vacation? We like Aruba but it's a bit pricy.
Overall, Puerto Vallarta is an economical vacation for us. We stay for 2 weeks....but aren’t eating dinner at fancy restaurants or staying in a luxury resort. We eat at small local restaurants and rent a private condo. I have 2 more videos to post on our vacation so you will be able to see more of what we like to do and how we spend our money. But we love it in PV! 🇲🇽❤️
Thanks for this insight. As a European it is fascinating to see how Americans holiday. We tend to head for the sun in summer too and Southern Spain is very popular - both mainland and the islands. I have some questions if that's OK?
1. At the restaurant on your 1st night, why were the plates in plastic bags and yet the sauce dish sauce dish wasn't? I've never seen plates wrapped like that before - strange to European eyes. BTW - that way of serving meat is extremely similar to what know as "Turkish kebab" but is not served in a restaurant here - more fast food/street food.
2. Are "condos" privately owned like Air BnB places or are they corporate? It's still more common here for beachfront properties at resorts to be hotels.
3. You rented space on a beach. This is unfamiliar to me - we can rent sunbeds by the day but it is "first come, first served" rather than booked ahead.
4. (Final one for now - honest!). Is Puerto Vallarta very popular with US holiday makers (i.e. the locals try to make it feel a bit "familiar" with English spoken widely, menus in English and familiar food/grocery items available)?
Many thanks - great fun following you!
Hi! I love the sun and sand....and Puerto Vallarta is my favorite place EVER! We go every year :). To answer your questions:
1. The restaurant we had tacos in is simply a street vendor who is lucky enough to be located on a corner with a small indoor eating space. Most vendors simply put chairs around their taco cart. But in Mexico, street vendors cover their plates in plastic wrap so the plates themselves don't get dirty. After you eat, the plastic wrap is throw away and a new one is placed on it. Street vendors don't have kitchens so they aren't able to wash dishes. But....the place show in the video does have running water so they can wash the plate with sauces. Most vendors have sauces available in a tub to help yourself.
2. Many/most condos on the beach and throughout PV are privately owned but there are corporate properties. Most "resorts" are in the Marina area of PV (not where we stay). We prefer Old Town area. You an find the privately owned condos for rent on AirBnB, VRBO.com, etc
3. My favorite beach spot is at La Palapa Restaurant (restaurant on the beach with lounge chairs). During high season, these chairs must be reserved in advance. It's $10 per day per person for the chairs PLUS what you eat/drink throughout the day. I don't think they have to be reserved in advance during the low season.
4. The Old Town area of PV is very local and authentic. When we are there, I rarely run into many Americans. Most tourist seem to be Canadian or French. There are locals who do speak English at some of the more popular restaurants....but most do not speak English. You will find a completely different tourist environment in the Marina area where the large resorts and cruise ships are....much more commercialized in that area.
Hope I answered your questions. I love PV and am glad to help!
@@WELCOMETOMYCURLS Many thanks for taking the time to construct such a helpful and thoroughly informative reply! The plastic wrap on plates thing makes sense now. PV sounds great and certainly more authentic than the Mexican 'super-resorts' like Cancun (we have the same over here).
It's my preference to go to places with more of a local feel too - it's been my experience that if one makes an effort to speak even just a few words in the local language it is always appreciated and folks warm to one.
I've only just found your channel and I like its variety. Thanks again!
Like to know what time of the year you show your video. Like Month and year. Your are at our favorite part of town. Yes the Italian restaurant is a very small place with great food. Plus they have nice wines. We did the same thing you did, walked by several times. La Palapa is a great place to stay, but their beach are not included with stay. And where did you stay? Didn’t recognize that area.
This video was filmed in Jan-Feb 2020. We vacation in PV every winter...and I have many more videos on this topic. In this particular video, we rented a private condo....many can be found with a search on VRBO. And yes La Palapa beach and restaurant are separate from the condo rental itself.
Looks like you are having a wonderful time! Are you using anything in your hair to protect your silvers from the sun? Thanks!
Nope! Just letting it be. My Joico Purple Balance Shampoo will reverse any discoloration 😊
I love PV, been there about 10 times over the years. Love the improved Malecon , Love Playa Los Muertos as well.
Your video is well done and very entertaining. Check out "Penthouse of the Dolphins" I recently stayed there. I
I use VRBO.com to book my condos. Similiar to AirBnb.
Joe in Los Angeles .
Hello my wife and I really enjoyed the two videos from PV. We are curious how you found your Condo Airbnb or Vrbo or another method? And what was the ball park price for the Condo for the two weeks. We have stayed in Nuevo at the Riu Palace and in the Marina District at the Melia looking to try something different when we get back to normal. Any info you can share would be great.
Hi! We found it on VRBO. IF you’ve only stayed in Nuevo Vallarta...you MUST go to the Romantic Zone. So much more peaceful and authentic. I’m going back in a few weeks in fact. It’s my favorite place on earth!! Condos in that area really range in price depending on how far up into the hills you are. Expect to pay $250/night for modern rentals. We are staying in a different condo this time and are much closer to our favorite beach spot. I’ll share it with you in upcoming videos. Are you planning to go back anytime soon?
@@WELCOMETOMYCURLS
Thanks for the quick reply No sadly we are from Canada and non essential travel is a no no at this time the mandatory 14 day quarantine upon return makes travel a non starter as well. We love the Romantic Zone as well, the Restaurants the Culture, the shops we love it all we spent too much on Taxis from Nuevo it was a waste. Just dreaming of this place for a return maybe in the fall of 2021. Love the Videos from PV. Be safe when you go.
Would please try and explain to me how to figure out Mexican money when in Mexico I really don’t know how 🙏
is it cash only everywhere?? how do u recommend taking money, get it out the ATM there? or exchange it all before ?
Hi Dominique!! Most restaurants accept cash and card. Beach vendors obviously only accept cash. I prefer to exchange my money at home with my local bank before I travel to PV. That simply gives me piece of mind that I have enough cash when I get there and aren't looking around for ATMS. If I do need more cash while there, ATMs and currency exchange counters are readily available.
sure wish you tell us all the prices you pay for your meals, snacks, drinks etc. Yes they will change but everything should just be date stamped ( date you ate, stayed... ! )
Note taken :). I didn't think about that. Oops!
Hey Renee Are you really taking the dogs to PV next year? Did I remember that correctly? I watched this twice would u believe ??!! Lol x
Hi! Yep....we’re taking Pollux and Maxxie to PV with us in January 🐶🐶
WELCOME TO MY CURLS wow !! Sooo cool :) can’t wait to see that vlog :) x
I hate steep flights of stairs.
Great video that shows me that PV is not for me. I don’t like spicy food or hills with rocky roads. Thanks.
Hello I'm new in your channel and I just have to ask you how com u are going on a holiday isn't everything closed because of the virus????cause it seems to me like you are in another planet
That video was filmed in January!
Any delays at PV airport because of Corona Virus. I've been told to expect delays when I land.
I’ve been home for a few weeks now so I’m no help. I’m sorry!
No problem whatsoever. A big squirt of hand sanitizer.
Thas i dont have one
Thank You for a peek into your vacation. Do you guys ever dress up even a little bit ? Maybe wear a comfy dressy dress would be nice. I guess it depends on how you grow up. We love to dress up if we go to a good restaurant. 💕
It’s Mexico ! Lol, on VACATION! Last thing I want to do is dress up. Besides, Renee looked so lovely, as always! 😊😊
Do you tip when you travel to your favorite spots in Puerto Vallarta?
Of course! We tip generously at all restaurants and to the car service we always use.
Where is home for you??
Paducah, Kentucky
@@WELCOMETOMYCURLS was new to your channel and just curious about that cute southern accent. Have a 💥blast on vacation. Thanks for response.
You can take the boy out of Kentucky, but you can't take the Kentucky out of the boy.
Carlos screwed you on the berries !
im a single guy, will be looking for a place to maybe live permanent need nice but not expensive
Ghost town today
Really!?? I follow a lot of my favorite places on Instagram...and most have closed. Sad to see...but I know they will rebound. Can’t wait to be back there this winter ❤️
He should have just dipped his toe in the ocean. Would have sealed and healed that sucker up.
LOL.....that would have been too easy! Instead he walked around all night dealing with bandaids that didn't want to stick to the end of his toe. Geez...men
OMG, I see diabetes and heart deseases rising... 😂
Beach looks ok, not spectacular
