I bloody love the way you teach. Wish I had these lessons when I first started out. I always neglected theory until recent years - but you don’t bog it down - you make it practical and easy to understand
awesome jules! Also your finger picking attack video is long overdo, you are immensely talented. A lot if it is in those fingers, literally how you finger pick
Mate, the best tip I ever got when learning new stuff was to play really, REALLY slow, making sure to get the notes right first. Slowing it right down until we repeatedly don’t make bum notes will stop us from naturally “learning” the mistakes. Sort the speed and style out later. I’ve been playing for a long time but have only been doing this for a year or so and my progress keeps getting quicker. I’m finding it much easier to pick things up, spot what the teachers are doing, and remarkably I can play the pieces! Mate you will get it.
The more you keep trying to do something you can't do, the closer you get to being able to do it! Just keep a level head and steady, positive-minded resolve when that voice in the back of your head starts asking why you haven't already gotten better at it yet. Getting good at something is harder than it seems but the hard is less suffering than you think it's going to be when you're actually done. Kind of like getting a flu shot when you're a kid. "Oh, that's all that was?" It's mental. Keep your head on straight!
Jules, i like that sound, but i gotta find another way to make it. My thumb just isn't long enough, or the joint is in the wrong place. I can do the G with some open strings, but i have to come up with a different chord for the A. And do the B a different way. But, it gave me ideas i can work with, so... Thanks! (I guess that's the main point, lol.) 👍 👌 🤪
I have the same problem. My thumb will not bend enough to fret a note like that. No amount of trying to stretch it will work. It just won't bend over. It's always been like that, so I just have to barre to do that stuff. It's frustrating, but what isn't these days. 😂
If you can't get your thumb over you could use a looper for the root tones. Just get the root tones in a simple loop and then play the high strings as you normally would. Ultimately everyone has some sort of limitation, look at Django Reinhardt. There's a follow up video for you Jules...what to do if you can't get your thumb over.

I Can’t thumb over the top, fingers to short to use the tips when I do, then it sounds messy 😢
But a great lesson though!
Nice. Subbed.
