It impacted me so much that for years (through college and well beyond), I proclaimed that the first black cat I had, I would name Mortimer. About twenty years later, I found my Mortimer. When I posted I had gotten a black cat, most of my college friends immediately asked if I named him Mortimer!
And I thought I was so clever when I adopted a black cat last month and named him "Mortimer", for exactly the same reason. There are no new ideas. ;)
@@WhatsMyLine, no but isn’t Mortimer a perfect name for a black kitty?
The fact that it was released 3 years after it was made & after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's Reelection to A 4tb Term made The Inside Joke of John Alexander's Character, believing he's Theodore Teddy Roosevelt, claiming he won't be reelected & that will be the End Of The Roosevelts in The White House, followed by the remark That's What You Think (My Favorite Joke/Scene) even more funny, due to the extra 4th term. Let me know what you think.
This is one of my favorite movies of the era. While mainly comedic, there are some genuinely scary moments. I had no idea there was a tv movie with Karloff! Now I want to see that too.
Oh, Mortimer!
It's too bad Boris Karloff couldn't get out of performing in the stage play to do this movie, the joke about brother Jonathan's resemblance to Karloff definitely loses something.
Until now I had no idea that there was a 3 year gap in when the movie was made compared to it's release
In my top 5 movies of all time!
According to some sources, this was Cary Grant's least favorite film, possibly because of all the slapstick stunts he had to perform.
Gerry Wilson big fan been examining the various versions think Fred gwynne in the 1969 version and karloff in the 62 version (v( and 52 (radio) are about equal think Jack Guilford is the best Dr and Cary grant the best Mortimer, son of a sea cook don't like the word b
