I have a Hisense SX65 that I called Hisense over and they could not answer simple questions either. I have managed to clock that panel to 120HZ as the UFO test reports but given they're 2 panels stuck together, it is only relative to the 1080P panel, I know this is confusing but there are 2 panels, 1080P for B&W (4 bit), 4K for color (8 bit) which makes it a 12 bit panel or 14 bit FRC. I have had some experimenting with different tvs, panels, I get how to get them to play nice but what I don't get is when I cannot get the right info on a native refresh rate on the 735/835. Again this is not having a go at you, I want to express my concern as I am needing to replace my aging Samsung 55 Q60R which only supports 120 HZ over 1440P but does 4K 60HZ. I have a 3070Ti which is more than sufficient to drive 4K 144HZ in applications so am happy to test, but it would be pointless to buy a TV only to find out it is using so some of interpolation to get that number. I know you cannot fake these numbers so again will call TCL tomorrow to confirm. Lots of text to read but this is again the same situation I was in last year when I purchased the Hisense SX65, so many people were against this TV, lots of misinformation on another well known Australia site. I went into Harvies with my nVidia shield and tested myself. I got the TV cheap, 1300 from memory, it is better than my Plasmas I own and have zero issues with IR. The TV has 2 million dimming zones, that's quite high for an LCD right? Well the image is stellar and would hands down beat the 835, but it just does not have the higher refresh rate the 75 inch US version does. It weighs 40KGs without stand too, so you get why I research my TVs before purchase. I just wanted to express my feelings on how some reviewers are missing a really crucial element here, the native refresh rate of the panel. R8tings is only reporting on the 655 ROKU? and I don't know if it's the same panel. I'll report back once I find out more info.

In my research this is the best overall tv to get if you don't want to spend a lot more on OLED especially if your in Australia and don't want to spend days getting familiar with which version of a tv is being flogged outside of America even with the same model name, the crooked advertising of "4K" and "120hz" but you can't do both of them at the same time if you read the fine print if the website even provides those details which most of them do not, like the C635. If you don't want to go through all of that, just buy the C835 and know it offers solid value with few compromises :)
The stand is a great feature especially for our room. We sit back with the new layout so having the option to place it higher was a must for us. Thank you again for watching Russ.
Thanks for an Aussie review! My Samsung plasma just died and I'm considering the Hisense U7 and U8 and the TCL C735 and C835. The TCL's are a bit dearer at the moment and didn't look that flash in my local JB's today. Dunno what to do!
I'm so glad I found this review I'm buying my first smart TV next week & I was looking at Sony or Samsung but this looks like a fantastic option as well it's just over $1,000 at The Good Guys but with haggling I think I can get this TV for under 1k.
I don't think you'll get the Mini under 1K for a 65 but there have been some good sales of late. If you can get it even over 1 it's a great TV and future proofed. The picture quality and brightness is outstanding I wish we got to keep this one!
Any chance on a Hisense U8HAU review? I want to see how it stacks up to both this TCL and the American U8H. This TCL is really looking to be a slightly better option with wider viewing angles, better blooming control and the Google TV interface being much better than Hisense’s VIDAA OS. Hisense is often $200 cheaper though, the blooming is also fine viewing straight on, and the VIDAA interface can be remedied with a Google TV Chromecast, so it’ll be a tough choice.
I was drawn in by the American Hisense U8H reviews on RTings but not only do we have to deal with some weird proprietary Vidaa OS junk instead of Google TV, but also that the Aussie one is a completely different panel with far less dimming zones. Since they cost about the same, my money is on the TCL - no need to go out and buy a 4K Chromecast that will erase the price difference between the two. Just wait a few weeks and it’s Black Friday too.
@@User-cb4jm Yeah, since this comment my eye has been on the C835 and the C835 only. Really banking on Black Friday sales putting it closer to the $700 range. Looks far better in store, blacks look deeper, far less noticeable blooming, the picture looks brighter with better viewing angles and of course the VIDAA OS is terrible (I have an A7HAU from Hisense and I would enjoy it a lot more with Google TV). Couple of weeks ago VIDAA was advertising an Apple TV+ show while not having that app available for download. There was even a mistake that Hisense made where you could access a secret Apple TV app through these ads even though you couldn’t download it. With both this and the unnecessarily strong pricing of their OLEDs (those 65” ones are about equivalent to the C2! Though the 55” is much more reasonable) I have to wonder what Hisense Australia is thinking.
@@donultrawide I'm right here with ya. My Samsung plasma just died and I'm considering the Hisense U7 and U8 and the TCL C735 and C835. The TCL's are a bit dearer at the moment and didn't look that flash in my local JB's today. Dunno what to do!
@@MichaelGoulding Really? At JB and The Good Guys the C835 and U8H are equally priced at 55”, with the C835 actually being cheaper at 65”. If it means anything to you, blooming (or light showing around edges of bright images against black backgrounds) is a bigger problem on the U8H’s Australian version and it has worse viewing angles (the colour fades or changes when viewed from above or at the sides). If you can find both at a JB, view the U8H from the sides (it gets especially bad with blooming when the Hisense logo shows up) and compare it to the TCL which looks much better from about any angle. I noticed recently the brightness or backlight on my JB’s C835 was boosted and it looked terrific, maybe your JB doesn’t have the settings well adjusted for the store, though I won’t judge your opinion on that as with TVs it’s pretty much all subjective if you’re not obsessed with colour accuracy. Wouldn’t know about the U7 or C735, but if the U7 is anything like the Hisense A7 which I have, it’s probably not worth it. Obviously if you’re upgrading from plasma the jump to 4k itself will be huge and the much larger sizings will also be a bit of a shock, but one key thing about plasmas that regular lower-mid range LED TVs like the U7 aren’t as reliable on is the great colour and black levels. Mini-LEDs are not as good as OLEDs, but they get damn close and I reckon the C835 just looks better. Hisense also packages their Aussie TVs with the piss-poor VIDAA UI, which operates slow, looks terrible and is a hassle to deal with, while TCL natively runs the faster, sleeker and more helpful Google TV UI like Sony does. Just in terms of quality of life, picture and gaming (TCL C835 is apparently the first 144hz TV on the market, though I don’t think any consoles support frame rates above 120 at the moment) I’d inch towards TCL, especially assuming that Black Friday deals will push the price below $1000
Yes , I noted this too , she did mistake about that , You can check the new model of Tcl , it have thousands of led as she said , it is TCL 935 , for this year , but expensive, it is better then oled , I mean oled could die (pixel) but this led is not the pixel it self !

Or do I need to buy onkyo rear speakers? Advice needed please on how to improve audio cheaply as Sonos arc is in in the price range that makes the wife go crazy lol
Thxs so much for the review! I bought one and waiting the delivery now... 😉 how did you get you're screen save in the video ? Is it an app on google tv? Peace
Thank you for watching. That's just the standard Google TV screensaver that turns on after a period of time. It's now packed up so I can't tell you how long it needs to sit there until it starts on screen.
Thanks, this looks pretty decent for the money. Can I suggest that you review the Hisense mini led and OLED TV’s. Can’t trust that Hisense hasn’t gimped the Aussie versions again.
Always Sony but pricewise. TCL delivers for ridiculous prices in a positive sense. It even has HDMI 2.1. Which only many high end tvs have now. In my country this model is now 850 euro. Most Sony tvs with HDMI 2.1 start at twice or even triple that price.
I really enjoyed my time with the 835 and the biggest difference is brightness the mini LED picture is incredible. Recently, I got my friend into a new display and they choose the mini led over the 735. If you can afford the few hundred dollars more it offers a better / brighter picture. The 735 we use however almost daily and it's great
@@AJTMuZzy Spec for gaming is the same IMO. Audio was slightly better on the mini LED as well but overall TCL make exception panels from the ones we've tested at a great price
@@AJTMuZzy if blacks are not that important to you, then the 735 should be ok, but as posted before, the nits is 350 on the 735, 500 on 835. So for any HDR content, specifically Dolby Vision, the 835 will perform better, or look more vivid. If you're using this just as a gaming panel, the 735 should suffice, but if you want that proper movie experience, spending more is a better option, especially when it is only around $300 extra.
C845 video is live on the channel please check out that video as well. We like both pictures of the Mini LED displays. If you have any more questions feel free to comment and we will get back to you
If your interested in a new tv the c935 is the actual successor to last year's 825 in that it is one step down from its flagship model. Much more punchy sound system too. The front facing sound of the c935 will be epic...by the way own the c825 and that is pretty epic and the c935 is better still!!!
i'll help u calculate it. 400 bux different only yeh? well look at the c835 have that c735 dont have shall we? 1. c835 have mini led quantum dot display and c735 is just normal QLed not mini led. 2. Talk about the bright NITS sure lot higher above 1000 nits and c735 at 760 nits. 3. Audio sound speaker quality? C835 comes in 2 x 20W per channel of total 40W, plus one subwoofer where their sound quality is so good enough that you dont need to get any soundbar. Thats 2.1 Channels more than c735 2.0 of total 20W. 4. C835 comes with WiFi 6 and 5.2 BT! As for C735 still running old WiFi 5 and 5.0 BT. The only dissapointing me is that they still using USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0+ or C! But WiFi 6 will do me good enough transfer files from hubs anyway. So you still bloody need to think if paying extras $400 worth it or not? Well thats only if you are a true gamers. But overall... even for just movies display qualities and connectives are far good enough... mini led is like double of normal Qled pixel dots and give you more clarity brightness and black and they come to very close to OLED display. And how much you gonna pay for OLED TV when you can get mini led close to 90%+ of OLED can get for less than half of the cost? Of cos the quality of material made are different. But what matter is the display quality not the frame and body material quality. Remember you are watching TV not the body of TV material.

@@DrinkNDrive15 For refurbished tech is tough call some time. unless you know what you looking at and specifically can tell the different with your own eye weather they are decent genuine tech or not. I wouldnt mind about the wear and tears as long the pixel and chips are genuine in good working order. And try to cut down the cost to 550 as possible. Is an old model and refurbished model afterall. So you dont get that those warranty from TCL if thing gone south and there is no replacement for new one. The warranty from refurbished normally only offered 1 to 3 months? some may offered one year depend what it is? But for TV im guessing they wont offered longer than 3 months? Now the comparison between them two. C825 vs C835 C835 have 300+ more dimming than C825 C835 have 144Hz VRR vs C825 nil c835 contrast ratio 10M:1 and C825 5K:1 C835 Audio 60W vs C825 50W C835 HDMI 2.1 x 4 vs C825 HDMI 2.1 x 2 So as i've seen most reviewer saying the sound quality have improve alot due to the latest model design. And picture quality wise of cos more brighter and more darker. and offering 4 x 2.1 hdmi! Now if you asking me to choose between 640 and 900. If im a gamer and my eye visual is really good and needed to see the best motion quality I will pick the 900 not only because is picture quality but also come with better sound improvement and bright/dark ratio to minimize the blooming and bluring glitching from white light smoke are important to me. But If im a budget buyer and just need a decent TV to watch decent quality and picture motion when comes to sport. And not worried about the audio quality since you got the sound bar. and if u can cut down under 600 then u tell him u take it.
well, i think the u8h can be bought for less money. The u8h has an ADS panel in europe, australia, and i think uk also, so have that in mind, some people hate ADS panels. I like them because i always watch tv in lit rooms and i prefer wide viewing angles in that situation.

you will eventually regret an OLED for gaming, it may wow you at 1st, but then when you suddenly experience IR, you will be nursing your panel for years. This is coming from owning 2 Panasonic plasmas, the 1st I did the 100 hours break in, which no one should ever have to experience.

I don't think you'll get the Mini under 1K for a 65 but there have been some good sales of late. If you can get it even over 1 it's a great TV and future proofed. The picture quality and brightness is outstanding I wish we got to keep this one!
@@TeamRetro Thank you for the reply got myself confused with the 55.
Can now get the 65 in for 900! Seems like a good buy ?
Thanks for the review!
Great video, just ordered one for $1250AUD from the good guys can't wait to try it out! 😁
Awesome I know you'll enjoy it!
It is 980 usd now
@@starsbridge5115 shop around and you might find it cheaper or ask retailers for a better price that's what I did
Any chance on a Hisense U8HAU review?
TCL uses VA panel and android which is ten times better then vidaa and ips panel. Avoid hisense

Hello been awhile I purchased this tv for my stepson he loves it I play my ps5 on oled
Glad he is enjoying it
Should i go for the 55" c845 ? Or would you mot recommend it?
We really loved our time with the Mini LED and highly recommend it.
Yes 👍
Hi. Need your help choosing between TCL C835 and Samsung qn90B i'll be purchasing in a few days. BTw nice video :)
thanks
"thousands of backlight leds" - doesn't the 835 have only 200-300 (depending on the size) backlight leds (the 935 has around ~2k I believe)?
Yes , I noted this too , she did mistake about that , You can check the new model of Tcl , it have thousands of led as she said , it is TCL 935 , for this year , but expensive, it is better then oled , I mean oled could die (pixel) but this led is not the pixel it self !
Question is how many leds is in a one zone, 65' have 288 zones.
There are thousands of backlight LED's but they are addressed in clusters.
Subbed. Nice review. It would be great if you could review the C935 as well.
Thanks for watching
Please make your reviews at 60fps at least, how are we meant to observe the motion clarity on 30fps
Videos are still compressed and don't look anything near how they do in person. If you're eager to see a newer video of a TCL Mini LED then there is a latest one on the channel.
@@TeamRetro is it 60fps?
Hi! Very good video, I would like to ask you something really important, do you recommend me to buy this TCL or the Samsung Q80 ? Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching. I haven't reviewed or used a Samsung for years. I can say that the Mini LED model is really great from TCL though if you're in the market for this design
Is this the same as the new R655 model? Just with a different name for Australia
This is what I wanna know I do know the R6 has a Roku though which I prefer not Google TV
Is the C845 this year our equivalent of the QM8? If you're able to review that one, would be awesome
yes
Great review! Is this the same as C831? I am based in NL where only the C831 is available
I don't like linking to other sites but I couldn't mind much information. Some people believe 0 difference between the two

@@NLbeatrix-tq4pr Hi, I did not get it eventually but based on my research I would go for the mini LED, just keep in mind that I am not an expert so cant give an advice
For some reason, the 55” comes with two very wide apart feet and not that nice central stand that you show. At least it does here in canada?
Oh I didn't know that thanks for commenting
@@TeamRetro It seems that they changed the design from the review versions to save money.
Nice review. Seems viewing angles is good for VA panel?
Great angles we enjoyed using this panel for 4-5 weeks.
So I rang TCL today and they knew nothing about the TV or any questions, then I rang GGs only to have the poor guy ask me why I was ringing.
Who do you speak to when you want technical questions answered??
This one or LG C1? It will be for 3 - 4yrs when we will buy next one. Use for Movies (Netflix, HBO, Disney+), cabel TV and XSX. What you recomend? In my country prices are +- same.
For the price I feel you can't beat the TCL Mini LED. Picture quality is incredible, bright and accurate when compared with one of my LG displays.
Hi there. Thanks for the review. Just checking if you have a powerful PC to run some titles, then you can crank it up to 144fps if the game allows it on this TV?
Unfortunately this has been returned it was a review unit. Perhaps online there are written reviews of people using gaming laptops or PC connected to it.

Hi thank you so much for the review. I am thinking of getting either the c835 or c735, do you think the mini LED is worth the price increase? As the c735 sounds like a solid option as well
Am curious to this anwser to 🤔 cause the c735 looks at a better price
MINI LED is DEFINITELY worth it, it's not the constrast at all, the blacks are WAY darker
Depends on where this tv is. I bought the 8 series for the higher brightness since mine is in a bright room

I haven't reviewed a Samsung before so I'd choose the TCL
Not the Samsung, this is one of the very few TVs that can do 144HZ, which I will address in another post.
Does 835 and 936 has full Google store?
Yea
Why we don't have a game bar in US with the R655?
Not sure perhaps contact TCL support as it might be available on an update?
While Screen off look glossy or light matt????plz
We didn't keep this TV from memory it was glossy

Whats the difference between this one and the C831X1 Model cuz im interested to buy this one especially for PC Gaming at 4K 120Hz? My current Model is a Nano906 and it has terrible G-Sync/VRR Gamma Flickering at 4K 120Hz in some Games.
I haven't had the opportunity to connect my PC as it's not easy to move. Hopefully I get a hold of a new gaming laptop soon to test.
I do recommend this tv highly though I wish I still had it to use
Under audio output it says “ Bluetooth + internal speaker” audio output from Bluetooth device and tv speaker at the same time…. Could I use two Bluetooth rear speakers (google speakers) for 5.1? Thanks, this looks pretty decent for the money. Can I suggest that you review the Hisense mini led and OLED TV’s. Can’t trust that Hisense hasn’t gimped the Aussie versions again.
apparently they have, saw some reddit posts about people beeing very disapointed when compareing their hisense u8hau to the reviews of the u8a
since its running on google tv, does it come with built in chromecast? Thanks
Hello dear, in your opinion, which one will be better for gaming experience for xbox series x, between tcl c835 and sony x90k?
Always Sony but pricewise.
TCL delivers for ridiculous prices in a positive sense.
It even has HDMI 2.1. Which only many high end tvs have now.
In my country this model is now 850 euro. Most Sony tvs with HDMI 2.1 start at twice or even triple that price.
Yes the camera will definitely pick up the differences between the sound modes... OMG
This TV TCL 55C835 is with NETFLIX CERTIFICATED?
Meu Deus cadê a soundbar que vem com a tv ?
can play 144hz on video in netflix?!!
how would you compare the c835 to the c735, which one would you recommend?
C835 vs C845 which is better
C845 video is live on the channel please check out that video as well. We like both pictures of the Mini LED displays. If you have any more questions feel free to comment and we will get back to you
Will you review the TCL C935?
The next one we are reviewing is the C735 series QLED. I'll let you know about the 935. Thanks for watching.
If your interested in a new tv the c935 is the actual successor to last year's 825 in that it is one step down from its flagship model. Much more punchy sound system too. The front facing sound of the c935 will be epic...by the way own the c825 and that is pretty epic and the c935 is better still!!!
@@nelsonmendes7551 Thank you for the info 🙂
is there any ghosting trailing in video games in dark or bright areas ?
hii great vid ... what u think about c735 vs this one is it a big different and worth the extra 400$ for c835 ?
i'll help u calculate it.
@@dann5515 what a nice answer. maybe you have an one for me, too😅. please, should i get c825 or c835? i realy dont know. I can get refurbished c825 for 660 € or new c835 for 900 €. (already have a Soundbar)
C825 vs C835
C835 have 300+ more dimming than C825
C835 have 144Hz VRR vs C825 nil
c835 contrast ratio 10M:1 and C825 5K:1
C835 Audio 60W vs C825 50W
C835 HDMI 2.1 x 4 vs C825 HDMI 2.1 x 2
So as i've seen most reviewer saying the sound quality have improve alot due to the latest model design.
@@dann5515 thanks, you are awesome.

Does it compatible as PC gaming monitor?
Untested in this review but I believe so.
Can this tv be mounted to an existing bracket without any hindrance of the subwoofer on the back?.Considering replacing my old Panasonic
Yes you could do as a sub isn't directional and there should be enough gap between the wall and the sub
Can you please compare tcl c385 with hisense u8h au . Which one is best for watching sports and movies
well, i think the u8h can be bought for less money. The u8h has an ADS panel in europe, australia, and i think uk also, so have that in mind, some people hate ADS panels. I like them because i always watch tv in lit rooms and i prefer wide viewing angles in that situation.
Is the C835 (Mini-LED) better than the C635 (Direct LED) for gaming?
I haven't tested the Direct LED model. Currently am working on a review of the QLED which is great it's the C735.
Do we know the amount of dimming zones on the 55" compared to the 65" ? And is it worth the 600$ difference.
It's like 220 to 288 I think.
