Fern, just an idea for future content, I was so curious whether you’d make the time goal. It would have been fun to see a timer on the screen for us to follow along and see how long it took you and if you made it!
Im usually 3 weeks on vacation and what works best for me is blumat self watering drip system. It is expensive : 25 watering spikes are 62€ but worth the money. You fill spikes with water and then you put it in every plant pot and then connect drip collar with some water 3-5l containers. I have 125 plants and after vacation nothing is dry or dead. My alocasias love it. No stress regarding plant survival and you kinda get more growth. I do cover my hoyas in plastic bags for humidity.
I had to leave my plants for what started as a three day event for my nephews wedding and turned into a ten day trip that included a memorial service for my father who passed away about 6 weeks before my nephews wedding. My step mom couldn’t make up her mind on what turned out to be the second of three memorials for him. I had someone come into water my carnivorous plants that were tiny and needed to stay moist. Everything turned out to be ok. Some were pretty dry but I didn’t lose one.
I kind of choked when I saw how much that isopropyl alcohol was there. 😱😆 Have a great trip! September always seems like the perfect time of year to travel to me. 👋
ROFLMBO 😂🤣😂 pajamas, mask and a sprayer that is classic! My Mom always says “I use to just take my watering can around 70 + plants and water nothing more and this day and age its so hard!” I think she’s right, so much work involved. 😅
I leave my plants all the time as I work away, they get used to only getting care every 10 days or so, I actually think they prefer it when I am not around. Only thing I do extra is put some trays under the thirstier plants in summer as I live in one of the hottest towns in Australia. Have been a plant grower 40+ years. I think they just get used to the routine of me being away each fortnight. My moss poles always get watered first when I get home but they also seem used to a few days of being bone dry. They all thrive.
Another idea for wire moss poles for when you are out of town - you can put a large clear trash bag over the whole plant and moss pole. Caution - can cause some mold on the moss but the pole definitely stayed moist.
Ohhh good idea! I hadn't thought of using a clear one, but that's probably a lot easier. I'm getting lots of great ideas for next year haha :) Thank you for watching 🌱
So I water my plants when i'm out of town with a cotton rope and a cup of water. Even my moss poles. Just run a long piece of rope down the length of the pole and put the other end in a cup of water. Done and done. Your welcome 😂❤
I am also leaving for 10 days and have been overthinking it for months! Thanks for sharing. Ive wondered if just a lil water for those that aren’t ready for a full watering is a good or bad idea
I too seem to come back to at least one plantastrophy after a vacay, pests especially. I think it was your last video you mentioned aphids have become a bit of an issue. I battled yellow aphids on my Hoya shelf for 2 years. In a previous video you said aphids don’t bother you too much, and I thought ooh girl, don’t tempt fate 😅
Hi Fern you are amazing love all your knowledge on plants and plant care❤ you inspire me🥰 I’m slowly collecting and getting a variety and then will group collections together 💕💕💕please share what creamer you put in your mocha 🤗🤗
I just came home from a 4-day trip and found at least 20 thrips in every room of my house 🥲 I should have done what you did before leaving, but now I’ll be doing the Doktor Doom of shame for the foreseeable future 🙃 I used to wrap all my poles in plastic wraps but the algae buildup after a while was horrendous, as you can probably guess Have a great trip!
Ooooh true, I bet that will be a slimy delight for me when I get back 😆 and ugh so sorry to hear about the thrips! So annoying. They do truly all descend when we're away 😩
I used cling film on my plastic moss poles recently and they stayed moist for my whole two week long trip! I could've even gone 3-4 weeks if I had to push it. All in all it depends on the plant plus temperature but for 10 days yours should be more than ok! 😀 Have a lovely trip! 🥰
Aww yeah that can be tough for sure 😩 Luckily it doesn't get too cold where I am, but I'll probably still do some variation of a winter prep video! Thank you so much for watching 🫶
Bonjour 😊. 🍀
Wishing y'all a safe, fun and happy trip. I don't blame you for not trusting the grow lights. I lost my home and almost everything I had to a fire started by a over heated grow light I left on while leaving for a groomer appointment for my puppy last October. I don't own grow lights anymore nor will I ever again. I'm not saying all are bad. But the small halo type is what cost me everything. I can't wait to see your decorations for spooky season!! So much fun! Cya when y'all get back. ❤
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear this ❤️🩹 That is so scary... Yep I definitely don't trust leaving mine on and this is a good reminder to always be cautious because you never know. I'm so glad you're okay, but how awful to lose everything :(
Hope you have a great trip, hey Fern I wonder though, didnt you use a bunch of beneficial bugs/mites? With all this treatments you might have just killed the entire colony. I would super recommend that after you are done all the sprays and diatomaceous earth that you get some more beneficial bugs to help build back up that nature ecosystem immunity, otherwise your plants are just sitting ducks and can get effected super easily by another pest infection.
Have a wonderful time! Your plants will be fine. My crystallinum has thrips. Will this spray hurt the new leaf just unfurling? And um THAT FERN SWEATSHIRT ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! And it actually hasn't damaged my fresh Anthurium leaves, but it's damaged leaves on some of my Philo's so who knows 😩 Sometimes it's worth risking some damage though I think.
Hey fern! I’m really interested in buying the Pique matcha with ur link but it doesn’t say anything about the free frother. Would it still come included? 😅… anyways I will still purchase if not cuz I love me some matcha! Thank you!!😊
Fern going "Ghost Busters" on the bugs 🪳 🪳 😂 I wrapped one of my moss poles with food wrap as it kept drying out near an open window,it worked really well for keeping it moist longer that I left the wrap on 😅 I’m sure you found out how tedious it was,I got my grandson to help 😅 Can’t wait for the update when you get back. Hope you relaxed while away. 🛣️📚💚💚
“😇 I’m preparing him”
“..for what?!” 😂😂😅
“For what, atomic war?” 😂
😂😂 he's unfazed by my shenanigans
Fern have a wonderful trip. You have worked so hard getting your plants ready for your 10 day trip.
Awe thank you so much 😊
Fern you are such a dedicated plant person. Have a great time back east! The trees should be glorious now! That begonia is awesome !
12:51 a WHOLE VIBE. A plant girly gotta do what a plant girly gotta do!! Have fun on your trip!❤
exactlyyyy hahah, you get me. thank you 🫶
You uploading new videos is the highlight of my week 🥲🥲🥲

Such a good work preparing 🙌 have a great trip!

I hope you have an amazing time out east! And crossing all my fingers and toes that there aren’t any pesty surprises when you get back :)

Right!! So exciting 😁 It will be even more fun to come home now since it's all decorated hehe 🎃

Have a wonderful vacation, see you when you get back 😀🇨🇦
I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip!! I always wait until the last minute too, good you are taking care of things early, less stress!
Thank you so much :) and yes, I'm actually quite impressed with myself this time lol!
Have a great time away!!! Much needed for you❤ the plants will do just fine
It's so adrable how that watering thing gives you a ghost buster vibe.
ROFLMBO 😂🤣😂 pajamas, mask and a sprayer that is classic! My Mom always says “I use to just take my watering can around 70 + plants and water nothing more and this day and age its so hard!” I think she’s right, so much work involved. 😅
I am so glad you posted this! I am leaving in a couple weeks for a 10 day trip as well and I am so nervous for my plants 😅.
Oh perfect timing 😊 hope all goes well with your plants and you have a great trip.

This is me in a month. I had to watch this. 😅 I know i need to prepare a lot, but I'm still not starting anything 😅🥲
Have a nice break from your plants, queen 💖💖
Thanks Natasha 🫶
You two have a wonderful trip, drive safe!!!
Enjoy your stay on the East coast Fern! Try not to stress too much about the plants. ;)
Thank you so much ☺️
Another idea for wire moss poles for when you are out of town - you can put a large clear trash bag over the whole plant and moss pole. Caution - can cause some mold on the moss but the pole definitely stayed moist.
The best part is you can re-use the trash bag 😊
Also no drainage potting has been really good for when I have to leave my plants because there is a water reservoir
Ohhh good idea! I hadn't thought of using a clear one, but that's probably a lot easier. I'm getting lots of great ideas for next year haha :) Thank you for watching 🌱
Fern, your plant game has been on point. Have a wonderful trip. Looking forward to catching up when you get back 🌿✨
Enjoy your trip fern and stay safe .❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you so much! 🌱
Enjoy the time away, your babs will be ok after the tlc and getting them ready!!you have given them💚

You rock the pink outfit 😂👍I also like the plastic wrap idea but that's stuffs is a pain in the butt to use😂😂😂 have a wonderful trip

You and your plants are beautiful ❤

Thank you Rhonda :)
Have a safe and beautiful trip
Have an awesome trip. Thanks for the videos.

We’re having nice weather. Today will be 90+ here in Oregon. Unusual for this time of year.
oh wow, so warm!
Have a wonderful time. I remember last time you left your plants were great when you came back. Kind of worried about your pings😮🙏 for safe trip.
I'm a little worried about them too, but I filled them up more than I usually do so hopefully they will hold out 🤞
Cut the plastic wrap roll in half. It will be much easier to work around the petioles.
I too seem to come back to at least one plantastrophy after a vacay, pests especially. I think it was your last video you mentioned aphids have become a bit of an issue. I see you have your bats up in the kitchen. I like the way they look like they are flying out of the cupboards
Thank you! They're so fun 🦇
Have a wonderful and safe trip!!
Thank you so much 🫶
I was going to ask and offer to stay and take care of your plants! 🤣 also a dog girlie, used to do rover and dog walking/sitting side hussle.

Youre so cute, i mean your plants are very healthy😂😅❤
Hahaha thank you 😊
Where do you get your little painted pots like the pink fruit pot and ghosty pot near your tai con? So cute!
Use a watering globe on a wet pole soil it won’t absorb the water from the globe until it needs it.
That's a great idea!

Hello Fern. How do you use alcohol for your plants? Could you tell me the proportion please.🙏
Good Growing uses saran wrap all the time. Check her out 😊
I love that watering can? Or sprayer? Where did you get it from?
Amazon! I just linked both the sprayers I use in the description :)
@@wildfern thank you very much
No I haven’t wrapped a moss pole. It looks hard! How many do you need to do? Doing it in sections seems to be working better
I only ended up doing the one. And yeah definitely easier to do it in sections haha.
❤
😂 crazy plant person. Yep .. I'm trying to think of a better way to wrap that pole
❤
lol you do look funny mask and all while wearing headphones on.
hahah 😂
Oh no! What happened to your Tandarusa?!
That begonia is huge!
Right!! When I was editing the footage I couldn't believe how big it's gotten haha
❤❤❤
Thank you for watching xx
Did you get a warranty on your tripod? That way you won’t be out of money.
I'm not sure, but I'm going to contact them and see if they can do anything about it 🤞
🥰
💚💚 thanks for always watching x
