I just bought my very first philodendron...a little micans starter plant. It's also the first time I ever ordered a plant online...so I've gone down THAT rabbit hole. I hold you partially responsible LOL. I really enjoy your videos. They're entertaining, informative, & inspiring.
Fern I really think you should get some more orchids! I know you don’t need to fall down another plant rabbit hole but I think you would fall in love with some of the super easy orchid hybrids out there especially brassocattleyas. Do you still have the phalenopsis I remember you showing a while ago? Love your videos 🤗
Philo collection looking stunning! I would love to see updated alocasia and begonia vids too, so cool to see how your collection has changed by genus 😊
Someday I too hope to have some large beautiful plants like yours. But for now I'm pretty much homeless. Have been for a year but I'm hopeful that somehow someway I'll have a home someday soon. So for now I just enjoy your gorgeous plants! ❤🪴❤️
Man I have so few philos (only really trailers and a few arrowhead ones) and every time I watch one of these I have to remind myself I don’t love them 😂 your collection is just so pretty
I love Philodendron as well, was my first plant... years ago. My parents received her as an engagement gift, sweetheart Philo. She is over 40 years old now. My favorite is my Red Anderson 😍. I have tried PPP, several times and they had awful genetics and reverted. I received my Red Anderson in January 2023 for my birthday. Not a great time for shipping in central NY. It was sent from my bestie in Arkansas from an Etsy seller. I don't know the name of the seller. I have never received a more stunning shipped plant. She wasn't a baby. She came potted with 4 inch leaves and a couple of aerial roots grown into the soil.😱😱Her stem was/ is like a burgundy and pink candy cane. She is a very happy plant, pushes out leaf after leaf. I almost feel badly as she never rests. Variegation is wonderful, she is marbled with bright pink sections that age to minty or white. She is my favorite 😍. The local greenhouse manager has wanted a cutting since I first received her. I can't cut her, she never takes a break from new leafing for me to feel okay about it. I love your videos 🤩😍💖!!!! Oh and yes, DIY pest spray killed thrips, mealies and spider mites🎉🎉!!! Sorry for the sea scroll comment😞. My local plant bestie had a HUGE outbreak, two years ago. It had come about a month after a devastating loss of a family member 😢. She called me bawling, she isn't an emotional person to cry often. She lives in an older home with exposed indoor brick and radiators, owned by the builder of new townhomes next door. It was early Fall, like now. I arrived to her hauling plants outside and throw rugs and pots and baskets... crying and swearing. I began bringing the baskets to the dumpster nextdoor. I met a wonderful Russian lady who asked if she could have them. I explained the situation. She asked if she could see. I brought her over. She hugged my friend and said she would be right back. She returned with 2 one gallon sprayers full of pest spray and began examining the plants. She came into the plant room and saw pests on the brick and spider mites and webs in the radiators. She took charge and told us to empty the room to clean and bring plants outside. We made fast work of it. She was treating the plants and needed to refill. I went with her. 😱 Her home was loaded with gorgeous plants🥰. Before she started to mix more, she brought RUclips up on her desktop. Liquid dirt pest spray was the recipe that she used. All plants were treated, no one got tossed out 🥰. I went the next Saturday to help again. It worked perfectly, beyond words. 🎉🎉. Have a wonderful weekend.💞
Lovely story! Have you or your plant friend had any experience with the pest spray and soil mites? I've had a massive outbreak and nothing seems to work. At my wits end and am hopeful that someone will know if this treatment will work on them! Thanks in advance!
Oh, I LOVE the Polypodioides and have been wanting one for several years, but they were always so difficult to find and also super expensive, at least in Europe (Sweden) where I live. Someting must have happened in the last couple of months though cause now I see them everywhere and they are so affordable. Bought mine about a month ago and payed $60 - a year ago a small plant went for like $200 aprox.
My philodendron collection is currently in the struggle bus (rough few months for my whole collection actually) this is encouraging to see how yours has rebounded.
I've had my Silver sword since Feb. 2023 and it just started giving me mature leaves. So it took almost 1,5 years for it to grow up. I honestly think less is more with that plant. I put it in a sunny spot, watered its moss pole regularish and just let it do its thing.
Fern is right. I use it, repotted a cebu blue that wasnt growing, just yellowing, in Mollys and my cat knocked it off the table onto the floor. When I picked it up, I saw the roots had gone from very small to at least 6 times larger in a matter of 2 weeks (so the soil it was originally in was the problem). Amazing rebound! I also repotted a baby Thai with 2 leaves in Mollys. It took a while for it to grow roots since it had almost none ( put in a 4 1 2 inch slotted pot from a 2 inch pot). Now it has roots coming out the bottom holes and is putting out leaf after healthy, larger leaf. Wouldnt use anything else!
Oh yay! Happy to see the Silver Sword on your list. It was my first rare plant, although it was on the decline in popularity by the time I got mine. It got some root rot the year after I got it, so I cut it up. Then the base put back out! The top cut has sized up to mature leaves, but the rest haven’t. I know it likes bright light and a stake. I extended the long piece of rough wood that it came on, but it has finally outgrown that. I should probably pot it up again and give it a coir pole.
Just love your El Guapo. Philodendrons are my favorite and I also have run out of space for more. So I like to watch videos about them. Thanks for this lovely video!
I love your red Anderson! ❤ splendid got added to my wishlist, I have a verrucosum and I love the velvet leaves but love the deeper green of your plant. Also want to get a ghost. I like the fun shaped leaves and colours. I’m definitely becoming a collector versus a grower lol I have a red sun philo and I think you’d like that one too. Deep red leaves that eventually get green later but grows from a center cataphil like the marmalade. Ooo the gigas, love the blue/green. Love your list thanks for sharing all your plant babies.
Philodendron is such a fun species to grow ❤❤ I love my pothos and philodendron collection so much. Just got the baltic blue a few months ago which was on my wishlist for years. So many great varieties ❤
Gorgeous philos! I recently discovered the philodendron Kitana which is Florida Beauty x Mayoi. I’ve also seen Fl Beauty x Tortum and Fl Beauty x Billietiae. They’re new hybrids I think so they’re still pretty expensive but they’re absolutely gorgeous with super interesting leaf shapes. My Fl Beauty just put out the most gorgeous variegated leaf and I am in love! 😍 Someday I’ll get one of those hybrids.
My favorite philodendron right now is the ernestii! I love the wavy petiole and the pillowy leaves, and super easy to grow 💕 Also love my bernardopazii 🙌🏼
I remember the previous vid with your gorgeous El Guapo - I couldn't believe how beautiful it was!! On that Verrucosum, I notice you have old dried shieves (sp?) and that's a great place for bugs to hide and lay eggs. Same on the domesticum.
It’s so funny how you say people grow “bigger” plants than this meanwhile I can’t get my PPP to give me medium sized leaves lol. Fern all of your plants look amazing!! You inspire me every time I watch your videos and I learn so much! I also have a long wishlist plant list because of you. 😂 I’m usually a silent watcher but girl I must say you make it look easy!
I left a comment on your other video, but I used a very similar pest spray this year and my thrips are gone, so it would work for you I’m sure! Hope you don’t get a bad outbreak! I obsessively checked my plants multiple times a day to squish adults also. Took some time but haven’t seen any in weeks/months
30:42 maybe you could add some more pole mounts or some type of shelving and put where the Milsbo used to be? Or another pendant light? I just feel like there’s something missing in that space!
Hi Fern..crazy story about the twin leaves. I have a Hoya crimson princess who started growing a completely different Hoya variety off the Princess stem. ( Hoya carnosa )..I guess I'll take it 😮 Love your channel. ❤
Hello Fern! All are so beautiful and healthy! The D.E. power works excellent for all crawling bugs on plants! I wonder if the power would work for spider mites too?😊
With silver sword, I ended up having to bring in a more mature specimen to get and keep those mature leaves and I've had no problems. My juvenile sword never wanted to fully size up 😭 Yours is looking like it's going to though! So many beauties 😍
Exact same experience with the Serpens which I love but now I am on my fifth chop and am seriously thinking of getting rid of it as it just is a lot of heart ache and may not be meant to be. Thank you for sharing. I thought it was just me.
I can appreciate the first set of (bracts?), on each leaf of the polypodioides is branched. Those (agian bracts?😅) are reminiscent of a staghorn fern...
Did i miss Fern mention her philodendron patriciae? I thought she had one? Hi fern! Love your videos like this! These are my favorites of yours to watch. Hoping for an anthurium ranking video!
In love with the micans halo everything u show it. I have always wanted a gigas but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I have regular micans, a baby silver sword, florida green and both the green and neon heart leaf. My real love is hoya tho
Omg I love your Serpens hope it does better for you! I have a philodendron squamiferum reminds me of the Serpens cause of the fuzzy stems mines got huge leaves I love it 😍
Love your philos! But Im trying to steele my heart due to lack of space. However.. trying to get a halo micans cutting now. Btw, could you do something similar for your mooncat polishes on you vlog channel? I imported 3 to try (due to you) and they are soooo amazing! Would love to see you talk about them!
Ow gosh I feel you with the bugs... I am a new mom of a 6 month old babyboy. Needless to say that my plants get neglected... to the point I now have a mealy bug and thrips outbreak, and last week spotted spider mites on my Alocasia Regal Shield 😭 what's up with those pests this year?! I hear from everyone that is really bad this year 🥹
I think there are different types of verrucosum because mine doesn’t have as long internodes, and it size up really fast, it’s also a little bit darker then yours I think 🙈 might be worth trying a different version of it if you’re struggling!
Hi I have just two questions.. this beautiful shelf behind you where did you get it ? Also how do you water your moss pole.. I feel like I’m overwatering my plant 😅
hey! it's a few ikea vittsjo units pushed together. and for moss poles I have plastic cups in the top with a few tiny holes poked in. I fill up the cups every couple of days and it waters them :) sometimes the water goes into the pot but I've never had any issues with it rotting the plant.
When do you start putting moss poles in? A few people told me not to do moss because pests love it, but not sure what else to do because that helps them grow better right? I have a young verrucosum and a white wizard. Don’t know that they are big enough for a pole yet but I hear once you put on in and they take off
Currently dealing with thrips and omg. what a nightmare. Do you have any interest in the Philo Jopeii? I wasn't the biggest fan at first, but I have started to see the appeal
Omg, the thrips scare 😱💀
(Maybe pest treatment can be a spooky themed video this season 🤭🤭🤭)
One spooky story about a houseplant parent finding thrips.... then a horror story about what happens next, from the perspective of the thrips!!!!
Love that idea 💡❤
I just bought my very first philodendron...a little micans starter plant. It's also the first time I ever ordered a plant online...so I've gone down THAT rabbit hole. I hold you partially responsible LOL. I really enjoy your videos. They're entertaining, informative, & inspiring.

I watch many plant channels and you have the most gorgeous! Plants of all 😍
Its the fact that most of Ferns collection is grown in normal house conditions and not staged in a plant room
Oooh this is just what i needed right now 🎉😅 something else to influence my plant shopping
Making myself a nice brunch and watching this…. What a great Saturday 😊
Philo collection looking stunning! I would love to see updated alocasia and begonia vids too, so cool to see how your collection has changed by genus 😊

Wow! You have some stunning philodendron!! Really beautiful plants. I love the variegated ones, but the last one is truly outstanding!!😮😅❤

OMG ❤ I was waiting for this video!
And I guessed your top 2 🪴
Omg your glorious is absolutely stunning ❤ I’ve just treated myself to a baby one I can’t imagine it growing as lovely as yours xx

I feel like you would like P. Sumer Glory! I don't think it's new, but it has major fall vibes. It's a crawler, too :)
Beautiful collection!
The favorite in my collection is philodendron bicolor! The new leaves come out so red! My newest leaf is over a foot long!🌱
So hard to pick favorites. If I had to quickly pick, it would be silver sword, Florida ghost and verrucosum on my top 3. Beautiful collection! ❤
I’m with you, I have mostly philodendron’s in my collection 😀🇨🇦
everyone is philodendron lover through and through. its a mania
thank you for showing how you extended the Orange Marmalade's pole.
Glorious for the win! Love my Florida ghost so much too! Your verru is my dream tho 😭
30:42 maybe you could add some more pole mounts or some type of shelving and put where the Milsbo used to be? Or another pendant light?

Oh nooooooo the moment you found pests on your veriegated heart leaf!!!! My heart felt that
😩😩
Hello Fern!

Check out the philodendron rugosum! Those are so cool when they size up and the texture is so unique!
Exact same experience with the Serpens which I love but now I am on my fifth chop and am seriously thinking of getting rid of it as it just is a lot of heart ache and may not be meant to be. Thank you for sharing. I thought it was just me.
Gorgeous plants, Fern 🌞💚✨🧚🏻♀️🌛🌿🌟
I accidentally started my majestic as a trailing plant and she is stunning that way! Maybe give it a try with a cutting!
I love philodendron ❤
So excited to watch this video!!! 🌿
the DYI pest prevention worked with thrips on one of my anthuriums as well, they didn't come back either. see also my comment on your last vid.
I can appreciate the first set of (bracts?), on each leaf of the polypodioides is branched. Those (agian bracts?😅) are reminiscent of a staghorn fern...
that glorioussss im obsessed
Beautiful! 🤌
good night, afternoon or morning fern, i love you 🤍
I love velvety philodendrons but I can't be bothered with the upkeep of moss poles! At least I can still have a nice trailing philodendron micans 😊
Not me LITERALLY tossing out my GLORIOUS out today because I struggled with it for so long 😭😭😭😭
素敵なTシャツですね! 私の好きなフィロデンドロンはフロリダビューティーです。
Did i miss Fern mention her philodendron patriciae? I thought she had one? Hi fern! Love your videos like this! These are my favorites of yours to watch. Hoping for an anthurium ranking video!
I love the varigated micans and u really want to try the verracosum but heard it’s tricky so much
In love with the micans halo everything u show it.

I hear from everyone that is really bad this year 🥹
I believe that is a Verrucosum Esmeralda you have. I’m waiting for mine to grow like yours, beautiful!
I LOVE PHILODENDRON
You need a Florida Beauty!
Yayy I'm so early this time 🥹🫶🏻
I think there are different types of verrucosum because mine doesn’t have as long internodes, and it size up really fast, it’s also a little bit darker then yours I think 🙈 might be worth trying a different version of it if you’re struggling!
Magnifique !
Omggggg the pink micans leaf... Crying
Right!! It’s everything 💖
Yes, you must put the "philodendron variegated Burle Marx"🌿on your list👌
That pest treatment is also for trips 🙂
Vèry nice indoor plants
i loveee rank videos
Nice video
I am just getting started and have already gotten mostly philodendron. I was curious about how to "shower" them.
You, like us,love ALL our plants! I tried to rank them, buy I felt bad because I do really love them ALL!
Question: Are all philodendron climbers?
some are self headers, example ring of fire
@@teresalynnturner781 A few are crawlers like gloriosum and plowmanii.
Woohoo!
Hi❤❤❤ I find mealybugs yesterday for the first time 😭😭😭 gosh I was terrified 😨 😅
Gracias amiga
What is the long strappy plant right behind you on the shelf! 😍
So… off topic question but… what paint (like brand, color, and finish) did you use on the wall behind you? Also- love your collection! lol
When do you start putting moss poles in? A few people told me not to do moss because pests love it, but not sure what else to do because that helps them grow better right? I have a young verrucosum and a white wizard. Don’t know that they are big enough for a pole yet but I hear once you put on in and they take off
❤❤❤❤❤
Which grow light brands do you recommend?
Currently battling thrips. My entire collection (only 50 plants) was in the same 2 huge bins cause I just moved. And like why 😩😩😩
YES 🙌🏽🫰🏽💚🪴
Currently dealing with thrips and omg. what a nightmare.
Do you have any interest in the Philo Jopeii? I wasn't the biggest fan at first, but I have started to see the appeal
