Absolutely love your videos and music selection. Real chill vibes. I hope to one day have a collection like yours. And I love how you handle the trolls and negative ppl. Keep doing what you’re doing! You have a beautiful personality.
This honest to goodness is a full time job. The massive amount of plants you have you don’t have time to rest. I truly hope you can relax this weekend in Vancouver and I am secretly hoping you video again. 😂 Sorry you have spider mites and hope you can get it under control easily. Like everyone else I am always so happy to see a Fern video 🤗.
I've been doing the mosquito dunks overnight soak for years and it totally works. With over 125 potted plants I dont have a single fungus gnat flying around. I probably use half the dunk you used, and I set a reminder to replace every 3 months. I also replace my 3 month release osmocote at the same time as it's just a convenient schedule.
I think your begonia you are struggling with looks beautiful! I had a begonia under a grow light for a while and it was just too much for it. I placed it a few feet from a south facing window with an awning over it and it really took off!
Love your long style vlog videos! I'm thankful that you show the troubles you have with your plants and how you deal with them. Not only is it so relatable, but it's helpful too! ❤
Still my fave to play while working around the house🪴💚I feel like all tubers have potting mix videos, but not how to store them indoors. Do you let them dry out in open air ie. sphagnum, coco coir, diy pon. I feel like there is always moisture in the container and your mix looks so nice and dry! Spill the tea🍵 please....details. 🤔💚🪴So happy you're still doing 🪴 videos and congrats, the house is coming along beautifully.
I use osmocote slow release on all my big plants and my patio plants at the end of summer and the beginning of spring.. I use gt focus foliage on all my moss poles, pon, leca and smaller plants. I do mix in worm castings to my soil substrates when I make batches and all my garden beds, veggie patches, fruit trees and pots get worm castings whenever I reset my worm farm. I've been a plant girl since I was little which was 50 years ago. There are always plants that don't make it, but most do. I have no routine or schedules that I follow. Like my plants I go with the seasons!!
@@wildfern definitely get a worm farm, great turn around for food scraps and other organics into soil nourishment with little effort or expense to set up...
Congratulations to you for getting the Bulbophyllum to bloom ❤. I got a B. makoyanum recently. If that thing ever blooms, I will literally cry with happiness.
I’m new to watching your channel. But I’ve been binge watching. You are adorable. I so enjoy watching your videos. It’s like doing chores with a good friend. Silly, right? I do my plant chores right along side of you and it just makes it more fun. Today you went on a ride with me to go pick up a Palm in need of a good rehab from neglect. At least the lady put it on facebook for someone to come get. I give her that. And little kid toys everywhere, so I’m sure she is overwhelmed. Then “WE” went to pick up my new Hoya Memoria that is in Bloom! And a Linearis. I’m new to Hoyas. Just got my 1st a month ago. I have 15 already. 🫣 But I have wanted a Linearis long before I got into Hoyas. Anyway, wanted to say HI, and thanks for the fun and informational videos. Your plants or gorgeous!
8:42 wooow it's so weird 😂 I bought an oncidiun-type orchid with twin flowers last year. Then, I forgot to tag it when I identified it so now I don't know which one it is anymore 😅 I'm pretty sure the twinning is a genetic defect because mine was a super complex cross breed. But it didn't impact the plant's health in any way 11:20 OMG you have TWO at the same time 😮 that's really uncommon. Most Bulbophyllum orchids are pollinated by flies, which is why the flowers stink. Most sellers will mention if the flowers of a certain species or hybrid smell or not, cause it can be pretty bad. Try Bulbophyllum Masterianum, it has no fragrance ❤ I went shopping for plant soil after that. I love this kind of videos with really long and chatty updates, it's very relaxing.
I'm so excited to see you restarting your silver sword and can't wait to see how she looks in a few months 😍 your lovely mid size silver sword that you showed was the exact one that made me fall in love with that plant
Hallelujah and oohhh Hell Yeah!!! 🫶🏼 ..just getting ready to drive home from a busy busy day at work, i open up youtube to put on something to listen to and what do i see immediately- oh you guessed it!!! it’s my favorite miss Fern and its a new over hour video!!!!!! Thank you Fern for making me smile and making my day better, honestly, your videos do make my days better💚💚💚
Hey Fern really love this style of video where you pop in every day for a bit....it feels like we're rollin' with you each day and just chillin' THANK YOU 🥰
I love these videos so much. Its such a vibe to just have you chatting away about your plants while i take care of mine or my housework. Pests aside, your collection is looking phenomenal right now - i can't believe that bulbophyllum bloom 😮❤
Hope you read this. I have heard from the people at Steves Leaves, begonia growers in the states, that some begonias change color due to the temp. Mine certainly do, so maybe yours is one of those type.
Thanks for the video today Fern! You have such a beautiful collection and wonderful balanced outlook on life. You inspired me to read Song of Achilles and it’s one of my favorite books now! The audiobook is amazing.
Regarding your begonia with the small leaves, I think it definitely needs more light. I have angel wing begonia right under the grow light and the leaves are huge.
My Alocasia Jacklyn also has pests right now. I got it about 2 months ago and was about to bring it out of quarantine when I found thrips on it 🥲 The leaves are so hard to clean; I ended up showering it off, like you did. Hopefully both of our Alocasia get better fast!
I absolutely agree that using what you have already is way more sustainable as is recycling yoghurt pots and I love costco trays for prop boxes, however I have to say it foliage focus, rootzone and ccs clonex solution are some of my favourite products, still trying to figure out gt silica though 😀
So I’m following right behind you on the silver sword but I’m a little bit behind. Mine still need to grow more roots before I think about potting them up 🤩
I’m horrible with my moss poles. This weekend I found a hack tho - I wrapped it tightly in foil and watered it. It stopped it from leaking all over the place.
That's an issue even for you, not just for the plants. Maybe you can look into installing some filters over the faucets and shower head, your skin and hair will appreciate it. Though it may be a bit of an investment..
Love all the anthuriums. Baught myself a veitchii at casa botanica. It's growing a beautiful leaf. Also my first thai constelation, waiting for a new leaf. Thanxx for the video
Thank you so much for providing the videos. I love them ❤ so much shared knowledge and i love your realness. Please can you share what the little wooden shelves are on the walls? It looks like you just lift them down and like they are suspended from the wall with magic! I have looked online and cant work out whay they are. Thank you x
I struggle with my silver sword too. Idk what it is, but it’s a hard plant. Similar to my prince of orange, pink princess and birkin. They all grow so unaesthetically. 😂 I put my SS on a pole and it’s newest leaf is bigger than the previous, so maybe I turned a corner? Send good vibes that you have too. I may put the other 3 on a pole too. I’ve never seen anyone size up a birkin, but I’d imagine it will grow similarly to the others. 🤔
I was inspired by your sharoniae pole choice that I remembered from quite a few months back, I think? I had extra bendy, moss wrapped thin poles, so I made a weird shape and put my sharoniae on it. It actually looks really good! I think it might _finally_ be growing normally now. 😂 I think that there are some plants that just take a year or two to figure their shit out (while I do as well). For me, it's the ROF, sharoniae, clarinervium, hoya sarawak... I'm sure there are more.
I keep my maranta almost damp at all times. It just had a bunch of crispy leaves but that was my fault. I let her go five days past the day it was supposed to be watered. My fault.
There was a 1st annual botanical bazaar locally to me on the 4th, I added a Hoya Polyneura outer variegated (wishlist!!) and a variegated maranta!! (Also wishlist!!) and I really hope it does well for me! And a moodeanum hybridXMag (the leaves look like they'll be so nice and dark based on the newest leaf on it!) ❤ a few more wishlist plants checked off already this year😅 (my lack of self control with plants is getting out of hand 😂) Your variegated maranta is absolutely beautiful 😍 I hope I can get mine that large!
I always water my linearis from the top with a catch basin so it can soak up some more water. It’s got no way to keep water in. That way it’s good and soaked. Then I hang it over the sink it til it drip dries. Then it gets hung where it goes. It has no saucer.
Hi Fern, that might not be extra floral nectaries on your philo Serpens. I had the exact same thing on a homalomena Maggie. The marks weren’t always there but started and just got worse… I looked everywhere online but only found one person who described the same problem on the Maggie but with no solution. Desperate to try anything I used a bicarbonate sofa solution for treating it like a fungal problem… this has greatly reduced it and new growth doesn’t show the marks… but it does occasionally come back. I don’t have an internet presence, I don’t even have Facebook, but since you have a large following and access to lots of planty people perhaps you could get others feedback about it. I’d be very interested to finally figure out what’s happening with my homalomena. 🌱
When you showed your philodendron serpents you showed us those dots, like, these "damage spots" on it. I didn't quite understand where those come from. I am asking because I find these damage spots on many of my plants. Especially Philodendrons like Micans, Princes and Princesses. What can I do to prevent it?
They are from extrafloral nectaries (EFN) that the plant secretes. It’s harmless, but can cause cosmetic damage. Regular showering of the leaves to remove it helps a lot.
Have you ever tried wrapping something around the bottom of a moss pole to fill it, with rubber bands, tape, or something to secure it til it’s in the pot that can then be slipped off? Random thought. I might try that next time. I make messes.
Fern, I love watching your videos! The Bios pest spray is next on my list, especially with the outdoor season about a week away! I usually use Neem and am just now trying the peppermint castile soap. For the Bios fertilizer, it's great for gnats as well, just FYI :)
Hi fern! It would be so helpful if you could mention which plants you think we can move outside now that the weather is getting warmer? Like for example my Hoya gps 7240 hasn't done much since I got her almost 7 months ago, could I maybe move it outside for the summer? Please let me know what you think!
I purchased 4 hoyas from Crystal Star Nursery today and it is already shipping. 😊 This site may not be a good idea for me. LOL I told them about you giving them a shoutout when I replied to the shipping confirmation email. They wrote back saying, "Oh that's wonderful! She's such a gem in the plant community." ❤
I’ve never had spider mites tell recently it’s crazy! Such a pain 😂 I loath them lol I found some in my ppp soil and my verru I treated them in shower and put new soil in too also sprayed with mite spray and alcohol spray I make then once dried I put DE on top of soil I hope it works lots of plant friends told me to try that so here’s to hoping! ❤️😅
This was the perfect way to end my day so thank you! And I’m wondering if you thought about putting your variegated maranta into pon? I never done pon before but my variegated maranta is one I am considering. I feel like it would be easier for me than to always be checking it in hopes of catching it before it dries out and gets crispy on me.
My autoplay decided to show you to me and the moment I saw your hoodie (i have it too and their bunny t-shirt!) and that it was plant content I just had to subscribe haha best album and great content ❤
@wildfern I'm going to their concert in Amsterdam next month! Last year watched them play all of wildlife and it was life changing, they are incredible
I solved the fungus gnats problem covering the top soil with a layer of heavy soil I have in my garden, it's a clayey soil, you can try with a sandy soil too, one that dries out quickly and doesn't attract them. So they can't access the soil too from outside of the pot because it's heavy and the larvae can't go up and fly away when adults. Leg me know if that works
Oh wow, sorry to hear about the spider mites :( 16:00 thanks for info on the floral necteries (sp?) I've been wondering about spots on the front like that. and wow, your hoya camphorifolia is beautiful. How come every time I look up one of your plants they aren't nearly as pretty as yours!
You have better eyes than I do. I can’t see anything but mealies, even with my reading glasses on. So I’m treating everything. I did the kitchen a couple months ago.
Pests, pests, pests. Never ending. Now that the northern hemisphere is going into summer. Outdooring is the best pest treatment!!!! I placed my Alocasia - Giant Taro outdoors for summer. She is now a beast and pest free. My Calathea - Thai Beauty, Leopardina & Veitchiana came down with some kind of powdery mildew. Outdooring was the solution!!!!
Absolutely love your videos and music selection. Real chill vibes. I hope to one day have a collection like yours. And I love how you handle the trolls and negative ppl. Keep doing what you’re doing! You have a beautiful personality.
I appreciate that - thank you so much 😊
This 😮💨😮💨
AGAIN... I was watching like "girl that tea is RIIIISKKYY" then laughed out loud at the zoomed in "Tea is fighting for its life"
The orchid blooms look like they're from another world.. so stunnung!

Fern your vlogs are the best! An hour and a half?! Let’s GO! ☀️🌿✨
Your channels have grown to be my absolute favourite. Very motivational and I can thank you for getting my shit together lately! Love from Ontario
i could literally watch these all day
your videos are so relaxing and motivated me to have a plant collection of my own since 2022 love you fern 😋

I enjoy doing choirs with you. You reminded me that my juvenile Philodendron silversword needed potting and something to climb.
Background music was particularly excellent on this video, Fern.
Moving plants cos of the sun. Think bout some outdoor blinds.. was a savour for my space..
Lots of smiling happening over here. What a delight.
Love your videos. Check in every day to see if you have a new one. Keep them coming. You are so neat and clean when potting. I have soil everywhere 🤣
I really needed this video tonight, thank you 🤗
Sent with gratitude 💚
So I’m following right behind you on the silver sword but I’m a little bit behind. Mine still need to grow more roots before I think about potting them up 🤩
Your maranta is already filling out. It looks great.
I’m horrible with my moss poles. This weekend I found a hack tho - I wrapped it tightly in foil and watered it. It stopped it from leaking all over the place.
cadence is so precious. she was like, "hello, i would like to say hi. okay bye"
Omgosh, I have been having problems with my silver sword. It use to be so big and thriving. I guess they are finicky. Thanks for this post Fern 💚
I'm always so jealous that you can water your plants directly in the sink and spray them down, my tabwater is way to hart for this 😭
I feel you. My drains are too small for it. It will clog even with the little filter on top of it.
That's an issue even for you, not just for the plants. Maybe you can look into installing some filters over the faucets and shower head, your skin and hair will appreciate it. Though it may be a bit of an investment..
loving the jazzy music Fern! So cozy 💕🤗

I've been loving the long videos to have in the background while I work through spreadsheets lol
That Orchid is friggin amazing 💚
Fern, I’m guessing the begonia color change is due to light. Was the light lower and increasing with the season change where it lives?
I think that there are some plants that just take a year or two to figure their shit out (while I do as well). For me, it's the ROF, sharoniae, clarinervium, hoya sarawak... I'm sure there are more.
I keep my maranta almost damp at all times. It just had a bunch of crispy leaves but that was my fault. I let her go five days past the day it was supposed to be watered. My fault.

Such cool blooms on that orchid!
I love your Jose Bueno and its double leaves!!!! I have a JB and I love it so much I think the leaves are so pretty.

(Also wishlist!!) and I really hope it does well for me! And a moodeanum hybridXMag (the leaves look like they'll be so nice and dark based on the newest leaf on it!) ❤ a few more wishlist plants checked off already this year😅 (my lack of self control with plants is getting out of hand 😂)
Your variegated maranta is absolutely beautiful 😍 I hope I can get mine that large!
Those orchid blooms are like pink octopus’s, so funky 😀🇨🇦
That orchid bloom is gorgeous!! Would love to know how you’re caring for your orchids ☺️☺️
11:11 Blooms are incredible
Thank you!! :)
Seeing the orchid low with showing the full flower I can now see how much and why you like it.
I always water my linearis from the top with a catch basin so it can soak up some more water. It’s got no way to keep water in. That way it’s good and soaked. Then I hang it over the sink it til it drip dries. Then it gets hung where it goes. It has no saucer.
24:32 Cadence (sorry if spelling is off) living her absolute best life 🥹❤️

I’m obsessed with your videos at the moment. Where is the cuprea shirt from?
Your tea in the intro stole the show!😂
First of all that orchid is AMAZING. Second of all, I've found begonias to be sensitive to too much light. That would be my guess!
When propagating in water how often should the water be changed? Thanks for any help ❤

Yay! Planty chores. 🪴
I just watched your cozy channel and at the end you had. It your bangs. And they are long again. So now i know when this was filmed.
Loving these long vids!!
You have better eyes than I do. I can’t see anything but mealies, even with my reading glasses on. So I’m treating everything. I did the kitchen a couple months ago.
Great vlog; thanks for sharing Fern!
I can’t wait for your videos to come out. Question did the bio’s work on your melly bugs? I can’t seem to get rid of mine they keep coming back ❤
Yay new video ❤🍀 i love longer videos
Pests, pests, pests. Never ending. Now that the northern hemisphere is going into summer. Outdooring is the best pest treatment!!!! I placed my Alocasia - Giant Taro outdoors for summer. She is now a beast and pest free. My Calathea - Thai Beauty, Leopardina & Veitchiana came down with some kind of powdery mildew. Outdooring was the solution!!!!
