Still loving my Simply Scuba Mk1 back-up torch (8:42). That was a good buy! Personally I keep my trilobite cutter and knife on my waistband where they're easily reached by either hand but I've seen good shoulder strap and wrist mounts too.
I bring a backup computer. In case my main computer fails, I can continue diving, and also I dive within the the most conservative limits. I also try to have something to ding my tank underwater.
Hello #askmark I had to realize that there is something like a sticker on your Hollis mask. I suggest this is to keep the fog away or does it correct your eyes. I am surching for something like that to correct my age-relatet vision weakness.
Yes, it's a defog film so I don't have to prepare my backup mask before every dive. Stick-on prescription films that cover the whole lens are rare. You can find plenty of bifocal lenses that stick inside but, they only cover the bottom half of the mask.
That is a Mares Force Bat Titanium Dive Knife. I don't think they've made that for a few years though. If you can find one it's a handy addition to my kit and requires little maintenance.
#askmark Can you make a video where and how to attach gear to a backplate for example : how to and where to clip Octo with different holders, and holders for your 2nd stage hose, why not to use magnet clip on for Octo because of a compass...that kind of cheap but gear that we need
I had the same question but also adding on when/what to bungee/zip tie things to your wing. I have a Xdeep Zen so it's more limited on space and curious how to handle the configuration.
@@billbrooke4355 I got the optional weights pockets since I still need to tack on around 12 lbs to stay under comfortably and like the knowledge of ditching the weights just in case. I really need to look around more to find these most custom suited setups than just the cookie cutter brand offerings.
Scuba media is a lot like cycling media, in that the recommendations given are aimed to mimic pros or wanna-be pros (including tech). Just like 90% of amateur cyclists don't need to shave their legs, wear skin tight spandex, and spend $$$$ on 5 lb carbon bikes, 90% of divers don't need tech shorts, added wetsuit pockets, or really BP/wing. A BCD with good size pockets (usually not travel BCDs) works great for 90% of divers and avoids lots of dangling add-ons. That's what I use to keep spare mask, roll-up snorkel, DSMB & spool, and clanger bell all tucked away. Also have 2 cutters, small light, and Nautilus GPS on my BCD straps.
Just leave out the BPW setup from the list please :D I’d choose a BPW any time, it is way more comfortable, needs less weight, packs up nicely and is just less bulky to move around. I agree with the rest
Hard disagree. I think the type of divers who watch these videos are mostly the 10% of divers that progress past the typical vacation diver. We all have different setups and it's nice to see what others have for gear, regardless on whether I would carry it or not. Like, I'd never carry a folder knife whilst diving
@@lukem2889 Fully agree with you. I am a very different diver than I was 3 years ago. I carry almost everything Mark mentioned and have used them on different occasions. I love my BPW and tech shorts
We got a DryFob for shore diving. We started using it to keep cash for boat tips. Works great.
general agree, tech divers will use their right pocket as the primary as stages stacked on the left make access more difficult.

I always carry a spare dive computer (my trusty zoop novo) ... I've had a computer fail before...

I keep my DSMB bungeed to my backplate.
Mine's clipped to my bum (the rear d-ring on my crotch strap)

Suggest a couple of light sticks, a spare mouth piece and cable tie and a signal mirror as additions.
What has it got in its pocketses?
What has roots as nobody sees, Is taller than trees, Up, up it goes, And yet never grows?
Hi are you still selling the simple scuba dive torches or are they going by different name?
No but, it was effectively the Apeks Luna Mini which is still available.
Every dive min 2x torches min 2x cutting one each side mask spool and dsmb back up computer and wet notes at a absolute minimum
Which foldable dive knive @10:42 do you use?

How do you recommend having some fresh water and some kind of snack just for a couple of days lost? ⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
I feel so under equipped I’m too busy making sure my camera gear metal detector and gas is on that all this other stuff I would forget I even had.
Here (the Netherlands) a spare compass is no luxery. If it's not for yourself then for your buddy who forgot his/hers.. :-)
Never seen people here carry one, most computers also have a compass, worst case
I always carry a torch. Good for looking into nooks and crannies.
TG6 in the pocket baby. Can't stand the thing hanging off my arm or bcd. But love having it on my person
