Amy Lee has one of the most beautiful voices around...unfortunately this video does not translate well, it is hollow and "tinny"...you owe it to yourself to listen to an official audio/video to truly appreciate her voice and the song...Evanescence and Amy Lee solo is a great rabbit hole to dive into ...she did a song with the band Seether called Broken that really showcases her voice....My Immortal is another great song as well. 🔥
The first time I heard this on the radio, I sat up and took notice. The first time I saw the video, I dropped to my knees, stricken by Amy Lee's astonishing beauty.
I can not stress enough to you the importance of headphones when listening to rock music. It makes SUCH a difference in the experience. There are so many subtleties to the music that you will miss without them. Not as much on the live versions, but especially on the album versions. But even on live versions, the headphones make a massive difference. Enjoy the reactions. :)
Maybe Britt is using Studio Monitors, like I do most of the time. We only can see she is not using cheap inears, with tiny membranes. @Britt: can you hear all off the complecities of the sound you are listen to?
I only heard of Evanescence and Amy Lee after getting hooked on Symphonic Metal. Amy's beautiful voice and the group's hard driving rock sound amazing together.
Best I could classify it is goth opera metal. This dropped and people just went nuts. I was in my 30's and being a big hair metal fan in my youth in the 80's, there had been a dearth of new metal talent for awhile, and this blew my doors off. There are a zillion fabulous singers in rock, but Amy's voice is like a piercing bell or siren - it just drills right into your head and your soul. So amazing to listen to, but her voice plus charisma draws you in like a moth to a flame.
When I was a kid I got my first CD player and somehow I ended up with this album and it was one of the only ones I had for a while. I ended up listening to it over and over and to this day I still remember the words to every song and can't help singing along whenever I hear one of them.
@@brittreacts you are going to have a great time with your channel because i know what is out there, you mentioned in your first Angalina Jordan reaction if people know of any young talent, can i introduce you to Daneliya Tulyeshova , i may have to subscribe just to see your reaction ruclips.net/video/jGUqIU6u8Ew/видео.html
Good reaction but you should watch the official video, this was a huge hit and went to number 1 in the music charts. Check out My Immortal by them too, also a number 1. Her vocals are insane in that. It's a very popular song and band.
I found Evanescence back in the day and loved them ever since. Introduced this band to my daughter, now 23, me 64 and still love their misic. We saw Evanescence with Lindsey Sterling at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mt. View California Sept. 2018!!🎉❤
I love to watch these videos. My initial split second reaction to the idea that someone hasn't heard of this band is crazy. But then with perspective it's like... there are so many things in this world I'm unaware of. We can get wrapped up in our own bubble and keep hearing the same things, feeling the same things...
You should check out a group named Halestorm ft. Amy Lee called "Break in" Its a great display of female vocalist that honestly should be running the game IMO.
"My Immortal" will blow your mind. Softer, but really shows off Amy's amazing voice. But watch the official video, not a live version, for more clarity on the words.
Amazing reaction!! I LOVE EVANESCENCE, an Amy Lee (lead singer) is a great vocalist. May I suggest "Evanescence - Lacrymosa Synthesis live DVD version" 🔥
Amy Lee has one of the strongest and most fantastic voices of all time. She is also a prolific songwriter who writes all of the bands music (I believe) and is a fabulous pianist. I will always listen to anything Amy sings especially Lithium. You may want to check out the music video's first on the artist and then check out the live performances. That way you can really hear the singers voices, the band, and the lyrics. Then you can just sit back and enjoy the live performances. 🙂
Most call it, I've heard, and especially when they play with a full orchestra, Symphonic Metal. Nightwish is one of my favorites with The Poet and the Pendulum, being their masterpiece.
My Immortal is worth a listen as are several others, they switch genre almost with each song, they were big in the early 00's, the video for this is very emotive
As others have said, if you found her/their music moving, it's a must to be experienced on a good sound system. PC sound processor and speakers , no justice, even using head phones still, not there. Amy is a FORCE. She gives me chills every time I listen to best songs from this album. Amy : Classic Piano training for years, music study including the Mozart and such, years of music study. These songs are Rock Opera at it's best. So much sole pours out. Listening to the rest of this album this song is from is a must. Seems these songs on this album was a construction from the heart and pain of her past.
One last thought on this song,..the guy that says: "Wake Me Up inside"🎶 not only does he have an Awesome voice but he is cute. Love his part in this, it really adds a lot to the song.🎶
Amy Lee has such a beautifully haunting voice. One of my absolute favorite sounds to listen to. You should check out Lindsey Stirling - Love goes on and on ft. Amy Lee. Her voice mixes so incredibly with the violin ... another one of my favorite sounds.
You always know, in a live show, when the first few notes are played and the crowd goes NUTS, you're in for something very special. This was the band's 'breakout' song from way back in 2003 so it has become one of their great anthems around the world. Britt, PLEASE watch the official video of this amazing song, it'll be a real revelation,I promise. I'm afraid this live recording does nothing for the real quality of the musicians and the genius of Amy Lee.
Amy Lee is my favorite female vocalist ever in music. If you're gonna review more Evanescence I reccomend: My Immortal (Official Music Video) End Of The Dream (Synthesis Live performance) Good Enough (Official Music Video) Call Me When You're Sober (Official Music Video) Everybody's Fool (Official Music Video) Lithium (Official Music Video) My Heart Is Broken (Official Music Video) Lost In Paradise (Official Fan Video) just to name a few😁
Evanescence is one of those bands/artists that is kind of hard to just place in one particular music genre. a lot of people like to lovingly say they're 'Goth Rock' but they have a lot of metal to their sound too, as well as 'opera metal', which is very much the case for their first album Fallen ( where this song is from ) due to the use of an opera choir in some of the songs....but I wouldn't say they are opera metal, since its only in their first album.
This is basically hard rock at its core. But it borrows elements of goth, metal, opera, and pop (and some other gaenres) to create a sound that's theatrical yet easy for anyone to get.
However many people will say Amy Lee and Lzzy Hale(check out Halestorm!) "are even better live", that's true about 0% of the time. Incredible vocalists, and official videos/studio recordings will let you appreciate their power and range even more. Their songs are just too challenging to nail on a regular basis while touring, and their voices suffer. This and "My Immortal" are the songs that hooked me on Evanescence, and "I Miss the Misery" is a great introduction to Halestorm(also good for reactions due to the content). btw, love your reactions!👍
Great stuff, loving your reactions! I'll second the guy below, suggesting headphones for the reactions. Especially once you start reacting to some Tool - you'll want to hear all the subtleties. For Tool reactions, maybe start with Right in Two, or 46 & 2. Lyric videos are helpful, since Tool's lyrics are beautiful, but sometimes hard to hear.
The studio version is a bit better, although, this is still good. Check out "Broken" by this band. It was written and recorded with Seether. She was dating the singer from that band at the time. It is a kick-ass tune. The studio version is the best. If you insist on a live version of "Broken", check out the one from 2004.
Evenesence is not tied to any genre they are all across the musicsl spectrum, any lee could sing a phone book and it be the most beautiful thing your ever heard
Evanescence is nothing emo. Is alternative metal band with some gothic and symphonic metal influences. Also some electronic and classical musical influence... is band from the metal scene. Love your reaction. You should react to The End Of The Dream Synthesis live from them. 💜
The lyrics and all the details of the arrangement are better Deckenbalken in the music video, the live version is good, but the sound quality of the video is clearly better! Anyways, in my humble opinion, this song is one that stands out and is a song of a decade, comparable maybe only to „Smells like teen spirit“ by Nirvana.

After my wife passed, My immortal and lithium became my faves..
sorry for your loss!❤️ Those are two beautiful songs to listen to, especially to remember someone!
Amy Lee has the voice of an operatic Angel. with a classical musicianship and the hard edge of rock that she is not afraid the show out :)
This band had me hooked when I first heard them back when they first got popular. I loved her voice and then I saw her😍
I've been a music lover my whole life and this song can only be described as EPIC!

I'd say "Lost in Paradise" is another great song that showcases her voice that gets overlooked by reactors
Check out the version of Lost In Paradise Amy did for a sound check. All alone. Magnificent.
My Immortal!!!!

Evanescence is technically symphonic metal and yes she’s amazing and she’s only gotten better vocally
Ohhh ok, got it!
@@brittreacts HOWEVER Amy does dress romantic /Victorian goth. I want her entire wardrobe, just saying…

Within temptation is amazing too and overtook evanescence in my esteem back in that era. Loved the genre.
@@SobriquetS Yeah, that's another good one.
I love how you appreciate these awesome songs. You have an eclectic range for music and that's very enjoyable to watch.

Amy Lee's voice is beautifully haunting.
I've heard Evanescence classified as Nu metal, Heavy metal, but they're part of my category: kick ass music.

Damn you Britt.
