How to paint RC hardbody Part 1 & spray painting tips

- Here's the first of a two part series on how to paint your Rc hardbody!
Here we see me painting the xtraspeed mercedes G class hardbody for RC crawlers (RC4WD tf2, Axial Scx10, Traxxas trx4s).
We'll run through everything in depth, Including some great spray painting tips I've picked up over the years!

Great video. I realised I should have gone for different paint as these Tamiya paint cans are tiny and don't cover much before you have to buy more!

Hey mate! Thanks for this awesome video, does the paint cure hard? I’ve heard on the forums some hobbyists saying their paint just chips off with light bumps.

Hello there, the plastic primer i bought is transparant (clear) , is it useable ? Thanks
From my experience... transparent primer is usually used to seal surfaces that are porous.. e.g. wood etc etc... I've never used clear primer for a non porous surface... always used grey standard or high build yellow or high build dark gray

How about you tape the screws on a piece or cardboard and after washing it hang it up to dry and always do the underneath first then let dry then do the upper side and hang it up to paint
Hey dude... Which screws?... I don't tape screws up.. I use an idiot board is necessary.
As for hanging... Not a fan of hanging.. .. Over complicates things.... Fine if your baking on 2pac paint etc etc... But for spray paints... No need

nice tips ty, im going to mod the PUBG 4x4 truck into a pizza planet truck hopefully it turns out ok! as its already painted from factory will a primer go over the top with no issues?
You need to key the surface first before priming
Yeah, I didn't prep mine really and after painting I have some nasty dust. Oh well, it's not a trophy queen, she will be trail riding lots! :)

Should I put the raptor hardbody together first before sanding are do individual pieces first then put together?
Do individual parts .... but paint all at the same time if possible.

Can I use rust oleum primer and does it need to be the primer for plastic?
Doesn't need to be plastic specific primer no... just needs to be applied on a keyed surface that's been prepped

Nice Info! Its hard getting a hardbody painted! I used plastidip alot on mine so i can just peel it off and do another color.
