Thank you. I really think there are not enough quality Akorn videos on RUclips. Your videos on the akorn is a breath of fresh air
much appreciated
I completely agree! It also brings newer viewers to the channel that get to find out how awesome your content is. Thank you!
Thank you, so helpful!!
These videos have been ESSENTIAL for my Big Joe. Banger after banger with your tips, tricks, rubs and recipes. Thanks.
thanks, glad to help!
Another great video! Your video about 'the first 5 cooks' was really helpful when I first got my Komado Joe. I just got the Joetisserie for Christmas and a ' first 5 Joetisserie cooks' video would be amazing!
Awesome! Thank you and congrats. Good idea, will add that to the list
This thank you note has been a long time coming. Thanks for this channel, ultimately your reviews and videos convinced me to purchase the Kamado Big Joe, it has been the best grill purchased I've ever made. Before the Big Joe, I owned the Akorn for around 4 years and I did several tweaks from various Akorn fan blogs. Probably the most significant tweak was adding the Lava Lock Normex High Temp Gasket to help the top lid seal better, adding a gasket around the top of the removable ash pan and also on the bottom vent cutting the gasket to fit around it. Santa gifted me a JoeTisserie for Christmas so looking forward to using that new accessory soon! Thanks again for all the great tips and advice, Best Regards!
Glad it’s helped, hope you enjoy the new Big Joe and Joetisserie!
It makes total sense. I have a BGE and an akorn jr. The akorn has a half inch less on the wall thickness so the 20" akorn might be 21" across and a KJ is probably like 20" So all the KJ accessories should sit on the inner half of the felt
100%
Great info for all of the Akron users. Love that Super Premium! Thanks for the shoutout!🔥🔥🔥
hey thank you for not having rocks in your charcoal LOL tried your stuff for the first time this past weekend and i liked it!
100% 🔥
@@ryanwatson6911 Hey Ryan, that’s great and you’re welcome! We try, because we find that rocks and nails and things don’t burn as well…🤣🔥🔥
nice work great job. Appreciate valuable data Cheers
cheers
I haven’t used my joetisserie nearly enough, but have turned out some really nice chickens on my Akorn with it. I have actually fit 2 small birds end to end on it at once. Your videos have been a great help to my outdoor cooking.
Thanks John. If you every find it on sale I’d say go for it. The live fire has some extra sauce
I love rotisserie grilled food! Nice job as always James.
So good. Thanks Ron
This is a great video - very helpful! I have an Akorn Kamado grill and I was wondering what options I have for a rotisserie. Thanks for this awesome video!
Glad it was helpful!
Great looking bird and fun to see it work on the Akorn!
Indeed! Thanks Scott
Thanks for filming and talking through this tasty looking cook. I wonder if you run a felt gasket on the Joetisserie top and bottom if that would assist on the air gaps? What a delicious meal.
Thank you for putting out quality, lots of info and also very entertaining videos. I have recently discovered you and am hooked! For the Char-Griller Akorn, could you PLEASE show if any of the other accessies would fit, like the sloroller, divide and conquer rack system, also if any of the charcoal basket would fit in the Akorn. I have a very old and barely used Akorn and I want to change that with playing around and would like to add some accessories to hopefully get more enjoyment out of it. Please Consider showing if any of the accessories you use on the KJ would work on the Akorn. Please...:)
Great looking rotisserie.
Thanks 👍
Thanks for this video. I will have to save up for Jo Tissori.
right on!
Hey, thanks for all the great vids. I ventured intonthe Kamado world last year this time. I have a 21 inch Lifesmart, do you think the joetissere would fit...
I have a pro smoke dragon, and the joetisserie fits that aswell!!i love it!👍
Awesome
Nice to see it works, the rotisserie from Weber also works on my Char broil Kamander and Ketle Joe, always good to know what fits what. Thnx for trying. Grtzz Dré
Cheers
Proof that it is not all about the equipment, but about how you master it 😊
Cheers
I'm new to the kamado style cookers and started with the Akorn to see if I could grasp the techniques required to use it properly. So far I LOVE this style cooker. I do want to get a Kamado Joe one day in the future but really have no reason to as of yet because the Akorn is so efficient with heat and a fraction of the price. Your videos are very informative and watch them often.
Thanks
Just tried the joetisserie on my akorn the temps kept between 350_ 360 absolutely fantastic what a legend !!! Just remember to put that second seal in !!!
glad it worked well for you
Is there a video on how to do that second seal?
@@julianborgna3873 Yes smoking dad bbq is the only one Ive seen
Great Test on rotisserie and the chicken looks great. I notice that you use the Meater in direct fires when using the rotisserie. I guessing you have not smoked a probe yet because of rotation of the probe.
Hello, will you know if it works or fits the Pitboss? It has a circumference of 24" on the outside and 21" on the inside.
Can't wait to get my Joetissrie.
Congrats
I have a rotisserie in my air fryer, and it works sooo well. The only issue is it's small, so only small birds can be used. Having one on the grill would be incredible.
absolutely
Great video as always. Quick question... I saw you left the meater thermometer in place when browning the outside skin over the open flame? I seem to recall there was a max temp the thermometer could stand but I could be wrong. Thanks again for your great instructional videos!
yes its 500f but in open air and moving it never got to that on the probe so no worries
Do you know if the Big Joe rotisserie will fit on the akorn? I'm new to charcoal, and I want to test it out with the akorn, but i have a large family. if i end up stepping up to the BigJoe I dont want to purchase a new rotisserie, Thank you for the videos, Cheers
Really begs the question if the Joetisserie for the Big Joe can be used on the Weber Summit Charcoal Grill/Kamado since they are both 24" grills.
The thumb screws on my Joetisserie's forks lately have been coming loose during my cooks causing the meat to stay still with one side facing the heat while the spit rotates freely inside. I concluded that I need to do a better job balancing my meat on the spit. Wondering if you've had/solved a similar problem. It would be nice if the hole in the forks for the spit to pass through were squared instead of round.
I bought a gasket thinking I can put a couple pieces on the joetisserie where the air gaps are, do you think that would work? Also, does the motor have to be on the left side? I think i'll have to do it backwards as my akorn is on the side of a large table (no fold down side tables), but nothing is on it's right side)
Used the joetisserie on the akorn with no extra gasket and had no problem holding 350 ! Had to help it get above 300 with vent settings. Measured with temp spike in breast of bird rock steady 350. Also this is a used akorn without the best gaskets.
right on
James Happy New Year!!! Question for you where are you getting your seasoned firewood? I'm from GTA area.
I use furtado farms for my chunks and splits
@@SmokingDadBBQ Good morning James, Thank you for a tip . Have a nice day .
love the video's .Would the joetisserie fit on a Vision's 18"
if i can find one to test fit i will, maybe facebook groups can confirm?
Great video with instructions that are really appreciated. I currently am using the Solo stove with Hub and cast iron grill. Do you know of a rotisserie system/ attachment for the Solo stove Bonfire 2.0 that is well made?
Glad it was helpful! Hmm now i want to try that... might be able to set the joetisserie on the base of the stove as its 18" just like the classic
@@SmokingDadBBQ will look forward to seeing that experiment, it certainly is a well made attachment. Do they have a battery driven motor for camping purposes? If not may need to use solar battery system!
James, I love your stuff. Have you considered starting a Weber Kettle series. I would guess there are more Kettles users than other grills. Your take would be fun to watch.
Thanks so much. I have thought about it but Chuds just did a series on the Fogo channel as well as on his
@@SmokingDadBBQ I watched every one of those and loved it. He’s another one of my favorites as well.
@@SmokingDadBBQ I'd think using the Kettle Joe with the slow n sear would match well enough for a lot of Weber kettle users since I'd wager a lot of them (myself included) have the slow n sear.
Would the Kamado Joe Pizza oven work as well on the Akorn too ?
Love the video by the way, awesome 👏🏼
It should. I show the fitment in this video ruclips.net/video/jhyE0xsgI2Y/видео.html
@@SmokingDadBBQ I didn’t see this, thank you 😊 loving your videos by the way.
From Australia 🇦🇺
How do you do chicken souvlaki on the joetisserie!? That would be amazing.
Check out this video, says shawarma but it’s closer to traditional souvlaki. ruclips.net/video/RYh4uuPiUNI/видео.html
Hello james, are you in Burlington?!?. When I heard you mention J&G meats it got my attention. Where do you get Fogo carcoal In the area?
Thanks for the videos.
Greg
Hey neighbour. I order from dicksons bbq as they deliver for a few bucks
Thank you. I actually started with an Akorn 5 years ago, I Loved it, but it was starting to rust out and your Chanel was the inspiration to get a Joe classic III. I will never look back. The joe burs way more charcoal but as you said the clean blue smoke is key. The Korn is actually way too efficient and just smoulders so dose not get as desirable results as the joe. Thanks for the great content.
Cheers!
NO !! I`m not buying yet another toy for my Kamado......until next Spring. I blame bloody Canadians for trying to tempt me with tasty food videos. sigh... Happy New Year to family..
😂
Hahah happy new year
Have you cooked a brisket or pork shoulder on the rotisserie? I'd love to see it.
Yes. WRONG about heat deflectors? JoeTisserie Asada beef ribs cooked over live fire are AMAZING!
ruclips.net/video/kaW_BxHh6_8/видео.html
I see that you always seem to use FOGO charcoal in a tan colored bag. I can only find it in a black bag. Is it the same stuff?
It’s the same just smaller pieces
Video request: Saint Patty's day rotisserie corned beef!
great idea
Have you ever cooked a Turkey Breast on the KJ?
Did a video on the offset in October but haven’t done one on the KJ yet.
Akorn Jr vs Kamado Joe Jr !?!
Will do in spring
The Chargriller Akorn rusts out like a 1979 Dodge in Michigan. If you live in a humid climate, the ash collector WILL rust to pieces within a couple of years. Even if you cover it religiously, it will rust. Avoid at all costs.
So a 19 inch rotisserie would fit on a 20 inch char griller Auto Kamado Acorn? Can someone confirm? Math isn’t my strong suit lmao
This wasn’t the auto but the regular one. It had a little gap but it fit. The wall thickness is not the same between the kj and the akorn
@@SmokingDadBBQ Thanks! Do you have any recommendations for a rotisserie I can use for the Auto? I’m looking at buying one. Any recommendations for a flat iron I can throw on there too would be helpful too, thanks again!
