as a bassist playing hard rock and blues-psych, I like the Drive plus to saturate the sound. Reminds me a bit of the dual-amping technique be Chris Squire of Yes which he did wich his Rickenbacker 4001.
I am no bassist and only just a guitarist, but that Ibenez with the black fuzzy pedal Dave played last sounds awsome . I highly recommend some stoner doom sludge in amongst the next batch of Dorje tunes . 🤘😉
Any chance of you remembering what set of strings you were using during this video? That natural tone without any pedals on at the start was superb! Pedals sounded great too but that clean tone really hit me. Thanks in advance!
It was weird at first how fuzzy they all sounded with even slight overdrive but I think it's not that much of a surprise if fuzzes work mostly using lower frequencies. Although the last pedal that you described fuzzy was actually the smoothest one of them. My favourite bass distortion was probably Ola Englund tutorial where he copied the track, cut all the bass and drove that signal, then played original and that distorted higher frequencies track together.
Now that rob realised that recreating a dinosaur might be possible, he'll sell everything he owns and put the money towards research so he can have an actual dinosaur for himself :D
Did anyone else find any grounding issues with these pedals? I just got a second-hand Drive Plus and it's impossibly noisy, I think it's not grounded properly. I touched the small metal bars at the sides of the vumeter and the buzzing stopped, so I think it's a grounding issue.
I own a LoMenzo and it's really great but a bit tricky to set up in the beginning. Once you've found your tone it's really great. BTW: Great tones again from Dave!
Could you use these as guitar pedals? Also, is it just me or can I hear Chappers' washing machine running in the background? There's an intermittent background hum I'm noticing.
I use a blackstar lt dual for my bass driven sound. it rocks. I have the first pedal here, and my friend has the NM2. They sound like broken speakers...but in a band situation they do sound good.
What would happen if you plug a guitar into a bass pedal .... would it blow up ???? Give a person a radical new sound ... surely that needs to be tried out ..
Looking for some advice! I just got my first job, and I have a Marshall mg100hcfx w/ 4-12. I really would like to get a good tube amp that's versatile enough to play heavy metal (with my pedalboard equipped with the proper pedals) and to play some low gain stuff such as chon. I'm considering budget tube amps as I'm saving up for a car, including stuff like the orange dark terror (in tandom with my 4-12) but I would like some suggestions! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I notice they keep 'accidentally' misspelling their own name.... Nobody in the galaxy spells the name "Anderson" with a "T" instead of an "S", so clearly it's just a VERY repetitious typo! 😁
This is officially the last video of Dave with his dreadlocks!!!
Rob Chapman wa wa wat
he cut them off :)
Rob Chapman This makes me very sad.
Holy Shit I am happy. Finally.
Rob Chapman first rob now dave next rabea cuts his afro

As soon as they mentioned Rage, I went on amazon, and bought all of these pedals.

Sounds great ! DAVE! Nice playing dude

Gotta make my bassist get one of these. We're lacking a 2nd guitarist, and that tone would fill up the mix real nice.
Why does noone else point this out? 1 bass+1 guitar means different tones than 1 bass+ 2 guitars+ maybe a keyboard+ horn/string/whatever.
Wow not many bass players on Rob's channel !
Now that rob realised that recreating a dinosaur might be possible, he'll sell everything he owns and put the money towards research so he can have an actual dinosaur for himself :D
I have one of those bass drive plus pedals and my settings give my signal a sick fuzz to it, but with great sounding low end
your new haircut from your previous video has recomposed itself into your pre-haircut follicular state. Explain
...ok... I'm a time traveler... I'm actually 800 years old... this is my fifth dimension
Believe it or not I'm serious
Could you please jump into the future real quick and get me Diablo IV. I've been jones'n for a run or two.

Happy new year to everyone from Dorje and everyone in the comments
happy new years rob!! ily dog
I own a LoMenzo and it's really great but a bit tricky to set up in the beginning. Once you've found your tone it's really great.
BTW: Great tones again from Dave!
Dave. Dave is the greatest. All hail the great Dave!!!! All hail the great Dave!!!!
Awesome video HAPPY NEW YEAR WAY TO BRING IT IN!!!

I use their DI / graphic equaliser pedal. indispensable for me.
is it just me who thought the first one had a muse like tone on the 2nd and 3rd string
"DAVE." Perfect start! Reminds me of some older vids on the Dorje channel. :P
Are you guys able to get hold of the new Stuart Zender Ashdown pedal and do a bangin' demo? :)
Damn That bass is sexy
I use a blackstar lt dual for my bass driven sound. it rocks. I have the first pedal here, and my friend has the NM2. They sound like broken speakers...but in a band situation they do sound good.
What font is used on the dorje logo? I wanna have some fun with photoshoping my own dorje single covers
Hi Rob! I love your music Keep it up!
Dave's hair grew back quick!
So… if you stack the Lomenzo with the NM2 do you get a hairy balls sound?
love that rattly dirty tone
Happy new years Chappers!
Who knows how to make ashdown bass hyper drive less hummy and noisy? Is it possible at all?
I have Lorenzo hyperdrive, i like it :)
I dig the Hyperdrive ;)
I do like some dinosaur facts with all my bass pedal reviews :p
do you think you will make any other bass model Chapman like a ghost fret?
I did know that dinosaur news! I love dinosaurs.
let's see Dave get his hands on a dingwall ng2!!!
The drive plus sounds quite a lot like Karnivool, well at least the way Dave has it set up. Sounds nice!
Out of curiosity, have you ever tried out the ZOOM G3 or B3? I'm wondering how they stack up vs analog pedals and amps.
Hi Chappers. How was your New Years?
love that bass
the devil put dinosaurs here
I'm related to Lomenzo and I need that now lol
If you use a bass with Dimarzio Model P pickups, you'll get a completely different sound out of the Hyperdrive.
What would happen if you plug a guitar into a bass pedal .... would it blow up ????
Give a person a radical new sound ... surely that needs to be tried out ..
What is the best guitar for metal under £300?
I lost my gibson les paul in a fire and am on a low budget for now
love thag bass
'bout time. :)
What are those pickups? P-90s?
"It's less ballsy and more hairy" So is it safe to presume that if one were to combine both pedals it would give one hairy balls?
I need a Dorje tour soon

Dave grooves way too much! He scares me!... in an awesome way :)!

Casey Gass Dark Terror is a fantastic choice, I wasn't disappointed and with a 4x12 you could comfortably gig it
Thanks man!
when the remnants of daves dreads will live on in older videos....
does anyone else play a right handed guitar left handed with no re string because i do just wonder if there are others like me
You definitely have to mutch guitars (left corner :-)
All of you - a happy new year.
waahooo!!!!!!!
Is Dave going to NAMM?
Anyone else hyped for the new chapman guitars at namm this year?
Chapmans in Australia? I want to throw money at you for your beautiful machines

LEL KEK thank you! I'm in NSW, might have to check them out next time I'm in Vic
themaskedguitarman if it help better music is in Canberra
Has Dave shown up on all about that bass yet? LOL
Dave !
All I wanted was to watch the VU meter needle thingy wave back and forth. 😕
:( no one in Ireland sells Chapmans.
*D* *A* *V* *E*
I feel for those people who haven't yet found out the DREADful news....
i thought it was pedal video, not a dinosaur video...
Still Dave here.
RIP dreads.
Hello Chappers!
Hello Kenny ;-)
Rob Chapman You have just made my day!You are my favourite guitarist's - thanks for replying!!
no "does it groove" on title, i see .. 😊
Everybody knows Dave.
Im no.30..!..wow
I notice they keep 'accidentally' misspelling their own name.... Nobody in the galaxy spells the name "Anderson" with a "T" instead of an "S", so clearly it's just a VERY repetitious typo! 😁
Blimey.. so a bit on the chunky side but sound proper phat! For £80.. gimme :-O
I thought the clean tone was rad but was not digging the distortion
Oh, and it's Lomenzo not Lorenzo lol :)
I'm pretty sure it was LoMenzo and not Lorenzo :))
But awesome to compare the Ashdown drives, it really helps. Thank you so much
Dave.
LOL that's LoMenzo, chappers (^^) not lorenzo ...
Hey chappers!
Dread dave
I hate drive pedals on bass. Classic cleans sound so much better. Leave the distortion to guitars.
dave
Dave o/
Dinosaurs BS. now on to more important things like BASS GEAR.
Low B string sounds terrible, get a high B instead please
Hairve.
now when im looking at it - that would be a cool band name
