*Fun card design history lesson regarding Asmoran having lifelink:* While Asmoran was being designed they intended for her to be the one that deals the damage to a creature with her activated ability and not the creature dealing damage to itself, but given the extreme length of Asmoran's full card name that wouldn't have been possible to template within the text box. If Asmoran had been printed with that ability working like that she would work favorably with lifelink gaining you life when she dealt the damage. Personally I find the ability as is to be more thematically on point. To me, the ability feels like Asmoran is giving some food to a creature but then that creature is hurting itself because of an upset stomach.
That round one was BEAUTIFUL! It showcased everything the deck has to offer and exactly why Food is my favorite archetype. Theres so many small game decisions that continuously add up into a giant snowball of overpowering value! Thank you Bosh for showcasing this deck perfectly!
I think not brining in Stone of Erech against living end seems crazy. Just take every ounce of graveyard hate you can get. The static ability isn’t amazing but it does exile evoked griefs, subtletys, and endurances. It also means any creatures you kill with asmo or trophy get exiled. It also means the 2nd or 3rd living ends that cause them to sac any creatures will get exiled rather than go back to their graveyard. And I think more importantly than any of that, the activated ability is a nihil spellbomb
Is there a reason Bloodghast isn't played in a deck like this? Seems just as powerful as Daredevil. Not repeatable discard but is still a great discard on a free body that pairs very well with Inti Edit, also is repeatable with Insidious Roots and Cthonian Nightmare, assuming opponent blocks. And if not, it's more damage
I really appreciate the work you put in to share fun, off-meta decks. I know it can't be easy, particularly with decks like this one that are essentially playing in 3 different zones with their resources.
R3G1 - don't you get a token blocker from the roots when the daredevil is exiled? You can chump tks, get the card from inti and try your darnedest to rebuild?
In retrospect, I guess the line in round 1 game 3 was save two food by not Asmo zapping your Street Wraith in response to Living End, that way you could kill your own Daredevil after and wouldn't have to rely on them blocking. Obviously I didn't see that beforehand either though, crazy gamestate
Last game in round 1 - you put yourself DOB by killing all your creatures and discarding/declinjng daredevil triggers. Opponent needed to just not cast living end and you lose to ent and grief attack. Luckily opponent punted too 25:50
So when you look at the full art of the new grief it is a person burying a loved one and the elemental is indeed tearing into its chest, basically to tear its own heart out, which is more appropriate than the thickness of the original art lol The full art of the elementalz series absolutely rips, wish they had a textless version so you could see them.

Ok so againest living end you just wanna turn 1 relic and that not play vexing boble until your turn 3. This will force them in a situation when they have to destory relic first. Force of vigor is a 4 off aswel, so you can get blown out very bad
In round 4 aren’t you alive with draw lose 2 trigger on the stack discard whatever card two mana gain 3, opponent decks themselves/ plays with last 5 cards for the rest of the game?
At 15:00 you should have cast the second Asmo before activating the first Book, to play around graveyard hate. Relic seems a nombo. What about Scrabbling Claws?
I do half wonder how much of no-one playing Nadu is it being a pain to play on MTGO, and/or it likely being banned soon, so people cashed out trying to get ahead of the ban??
The grief full art and the other borderless elemental arts are the elementals mindfucking a random guy but the text box covers up the guy on all of them. A card cycle where textless would actually have been sweet.
Fury was also a problem. Not only was Rakdos Scam abusing it, but also the Omnath money pile deck and Rhinos. I think they both probably needed the hammer, especially with the pre-Vexing Bauble cascade meta.
Fury was not the problem people were saying it was for a long time but at the time Fury was banned it almost certainly was one. Remember it wasn’t just scam that got that card banned lol.
nadu isn’t nearly as popular as you might expect on mtgo since the best version of the deck simply takes too long to win with due to being unable to shortcut anything

I believe that the art for Grief is supposed to be an interpretive art piece for how Grief tears open a person from inside and out

Grief has become the problem we all knew it would be. It just took people complaining about and wrongfully banning Fury to finally start seeing it.
