I played this in the store, without knowing it was his signature one, just liked the look of it, and I was blown away. Actually sounds fantastic, but even more, it feels amazing to play!
Same, I had no idea it was a Signature guitar just sat down and played it and was blown away at the sound. I purchased the guitar not knowing who he was and googled him when I got home, lol. Doesn't bother me at all, it 's a great guitar and sounds amazing.
They sound balanced and lovely for us newbies and couch warriors. Some of us have physical limitations and need a smaller instrument. Understated and solid wood makes it very appealing.
I have this one for a few months now and its definitely worth its price. Do change to ebony pins along with a bone saddle for good upgrades. I even changed my tuner buttons to similar ones found on the D28. Im really impressed with the sound that it makes, very balanced and has incredibly long sustain
Not a huge fan of Shawn Mendes but love the idea of a 000jr with electronics that’s not a cutaway. I’m a small dude so nice to have the option to play something other than an LX1e lol.
I can totally see myself buying one. I like the light sound and it must be so comfortable to play. I mean..., I literally play the guitar lying down, relaxing, chilling, writing songs...., but there's nothing relaxing in doing that with a dreadnaught. Yeah, I like it. A lot!
This is worth the $799.00! I love you guys and hope to make it to Bozeman one warm summer day. Quinton is a favorite human of mine and everyone speaks highly of Paul (except Baxter says he should tune his guitars, but with love) I am happy I do not want a guitar at the moment!
@@ComicKish Bcoz it has 4 features which is not available in other Martin guitar at this price range ~ 1. It's made of all solid wood ( while uptill 000/D-13 siries it has HPL). 2. It has cool inlays (both in fretboard & bridge). 3. It has vintage looking tint top finish. 4. It has sapele headstock (instead of HPL). And hey it comes with better gig bag. And iam sure it's made better after all it's an signature guitar. Iam not really a fan of SM but because of him now we can have ligit all solid wood & cool looking Martin guitar at the starting price range series. I hope this helps 😎😅.
I'm getting used to my Ibanez AW54 JR twenty-four inch scale acoustic guitar and I am thinking of investing in another guitar of this size, like the Mendes, thanks guys for the short review.
Suggested Comparison Demo : Martin Mendes vs Taylor GT. Scale lengths are within 1/8th of an inch of each other. I believe I prefer the sound of this Mendes model to the GT but it seems to have a little less volume. Looks like Martin is waking up to the market potential of this small body segment.
From someone who's a Shawn/Martin fan (more of a Mayer fan ultimately) and has played for 20+ years I think it's at a balanced & fair price point; if it were any more expensive I think it wouldn't be such a hit, any cheaper I'd be skeptical regarding the build. But a solid body acoustic w/ electronics, ebony fretboard + bridge, non-dot inlays typically found on higher end Martins- all with a gig bag under $1,000? I'm all about it. Otherwise the specs are basically the same as the core Jr. line (minus the aging toner applied, wish it was glossy though, will be interesting to see how it ages). Even if you're a boomer and don't care about Shawn Mendes, this is a fun release from Martin and would love to see more "entry level" Martin signature models like these. I'm at the point where a lower-end acoustic doesn't excite me these days, but something like this would definitely be my buddy both on the road, and the couch. Until I can comfortably afford a 00-28 standard series this could be a personal go-to for me. What revisions would I have liked to see? Vintage-style open-gear tuners, and a glossy finish (on the top at least). Of course both of these would incur higher costs so there you go. Only thing I didn't like upon first listen here? I feel like one couldn't play this guitar incredibly loud. I don't have a heavy hand myself but short of it having an adirondack spruce top/different tone wood sides, it's probably best played how Quentin demonstrated in terms of dynamics. I'd also appreciate some samples of other styles of play other than g-chords and bluegrass licks, but there's always next time Music Villa. Appreciate the video.
Biggest difference is going to be the fretboard and bridge. Shawn Mendes model has an ebony fretboard and bridge where the regular jr model uses Richlite. Might just be me, but I feel like that makes a fairly noticeable difference in sound from martins that’s I’ve played that use Richlite bridges/boards vs those using real wood.
I traded in my 114e for this guitar and am loving it! All solid wood construction makes for a full sound. If you lean toward an intimate finger-picking style, it shines. Big strumming sounds proud and well-articulated - anyway, that’s my take.
😊 I got one and I really like it. It needs a little set up work though because the action is a little high on mine but I'll fix that when I change strings. Other than that it sounds great its louder than I thought it would be but doesnt have the bass my GPC 16e has but its Rosewood and the 000 is Sapele so I'm sure that is one reason for it. I like the fact it's made of all solid wood and definitely plays, sounds and looks above the price point. I keep it handy and play it often and overall I'm real happy with it.
I'm not sure which guitar to buy, I'm between the Martin DJR-10E Streetmaster or this version Martin 000JR-10E Shawn Mendes, which one do you recommend?
You're getting an all solid woods guitar here - even has an ebony fingerboard and bridge. Even though it's a travel size, this is the best all solid wood Martin you can achieve in this price. To have a pickup as well, this is clearly the best value in that range. I have no taste for this guy's music, but this a great guitar for the money.
I’ve said it before. Martin can put a set of strings on a tire and it would sound amazing but you would still have to fight a little to play it. As far as big factory builders go, they sound far better than all the others. Gibson custom shop guitars feel better in the hands and still brings you the vintage sound. However, can’t go wrong with a Martin.
the fretboard is ebony in the shawn mendes version, while it is richlite in the 000jr-10 (kinda mix of resine and paper, which is not bat at all, is more resistent than ebony, but has its downsides too) the shawn mendes' model have electronics, while the 000jr doesnt, unless you get the 000cjr-10e, which has a cutaway, theres other differences, but in general, i think these are the most important
Alamo music said this signature model is all solid wood. The Martin website doesn't say anything except the FSC certification. Does anyone here know the truth?
Guys, it would be nice if you spoke to what the materials are, sides, back etc. the guy who doesn’t play never seems to study the instrument before doing video. Nice guys, but not too thorough. Thanks for the video though!
I’m 55 and a Shawn Mendes fan. Go 🇨🇦
I like how you guys are up front about what this guitar is and isn’t! Looks cool, looks very playable, reasonable price

That’s how I was 2 days ago!!! Went to to the local guitar center and was speechless, amazing guitar for a great price!!!!
@@djsalinas1536 yeah, I was very impressed. It plays like butter and sounds great, too!
Could the Shawn Mendez logo be easily removed?

How happy am I for having a FULL SOLID MARTIN in Parlor size for under 1000 Swiss Franks?

What a great sofa guitar!! Sounds awesome

do you think it merits the 250 dollar price increase over the 000jr?
Nice review. Quinton, you could make a screen door sound good.
Very nice guitar. I was thinking of getting the Taylor 114e but now I'm not sure.

That’s literally my dream guitar, kinda hard to get here in Brasil but, one day I will get it

I'd love to see comparison between this and normal 000jr-10. Theoretically they are both made out of the same woods, except fingerboard and bridge
Could you make a comparison between this model and the Martin 000 CJr 10-e?
Love that large logo shirt, Quinton. Would you mind sharing where you found it?

What was the intro riff???
Nice sound. How does this compare to a Taylor GT?
Are these also made with richlite fretboard/bridge like the other Martin Jr's?
No....all wood.
ebony fretboard and bridge
@@asplashofcitrus ... and is it really better?
How´s this model in comparison to the Martin Junior DJR-10E Sunburst?

I bought my D-15 in 2002, but did not lower the action until 8 years ago. I wish I had had it done sooner! So smooth now. Plays like a dream.
Hi! I am looking for something of good quality at a good price. Will this be my favorite? What do you think...
HOW do I learn to play the kind of music Quinton plays, yo?
Are the back and sides 'Solid Sapele' or 'Layered Sapele'?
Solid. It's all solid wood.
What's the difference between this and the 000jr?

has a lighter sound than my oo18 which I do not like and rarely play. Quinton could make a garden rake sound good so may take a look at this one.
age or IQ ?
Alamo music said this signature model is all solid wood. The Martin website doesn't say anything except the FSC certification. Does anyone here know the truth?
is it electroacoustic?
Yes
Make some with koa made with this shawn mendes guitar …
They should put my name on it, they would sell more. 😂😂🐱🐱🐱🎸💓. Even the cats are laughing.
It looks more like a 0-18 than a small 000-18 🧐

May be nice beginner guitar, but I wouldn't want this guy's name on it and I prefer dreads.
Who the fuck is Shawn Mendes and why has he got a guitar named after him? 🇬🇧
He's a Canadian singer songwriter and a guitarist that's why
