  • Tabouli, also spelled Tabbouleh, is a Lebanese salad that is traditionally made with bulgur wheat, parsley, mint, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. Its exact origins are uncertain, but it is believed to have originated in the mountains of Lebanon near the Syrian border.
Tabouli has been a popular dish in the Levant region for centuries and was likely made with different variations of ingredients depending on the season and availability. In the 20th century, the dish became more widely known and appreciated outside of the Middle East, and it is now a popular dish in many countries around the world!
Tabouli has also undergone some changes over time. Some modern versions may include ingredients like cucumber, lettuce, or even quinoa instead of bulgur wheat. Despite these variations, the dish has remained a staple in Lebanese cuisine and continues to be enjoyed by many people around the world.

    2. Drain the bulgur wheat and squeeze out any excess water using your hands.
    3. In a large bowl, mix together the parsley, mint, green onions, and tomatoes.
    4. Add the drained bulgur wheat to the bowl and mix well.
    5. In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
    6. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss until everything is well combined.
    7. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
    8. Let the salad sit for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
Tabbouleh can be served as a side dish or as a main dish with some grilled chicken or fish. Enjoy!
