British Humor is far more dark than American or Canadian humor. I've noticed that quite frequently. He'd literally just have people walking out if he deployed his normal routine.
Stand-up is about jokes and you can deliver jokes in different styles (some don't even talk at all). I admire difficulty simply because it is harder to do one liners. Carr doesn't always do one liners. Examples of people who do one liners as a full act are Tim Vine, Steven Wright, Emo Philips, Stewart Francis and Milton Jones. I can't do what they do.
Writing. Think about writing a joke. You'll go blank for a few seconds. Now think about the jokes per minute ratio. Some fast talkers like Time Vine could do something like 20 jokes a minute or more (He once held the world record for most jokes told in a certain time).
I live in the US, and when I tell people his jokes, they love it. He needs to come over here and not tone it down. The people are ready for the real Jimmy!
