This song was such an important song for them. The rap line especially grew up on hip-hop. The more you get to know them you'll see them talk about how it's affected them and their lives. They initially debuted as a hip hop team but have branched out over the years as their interests expanded. RM used to give the vocal line all the classics to study when they were trainees. Also if you watch American Hustle Life they go more in depth to their background with Hip Hop culture and they meet some artist in LA, like Warren G, who RM has a collab with. There's a lot of history hear. Now that you've seem them mention J Cole you have to watch Born Singer- another song I'm sure you'll enjoy- based off Born Singer, but with their own original lyrics. They wrote this in their early years when they had just proved themselves as singers and wanted to talk about the meaning behind this. Also, if you check out their early songs they were a lot more rap heavy- try danger, you may like, also juat check out their first album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. And also, the cyphers and UGH! and Ddaeng. Their so much great Lyricism. RM's favourite is NAS. He's like a HUGE fanboy, it's adorable.
Honestly this is such a fantastic tribute to old school hip hop and shows how passionate they are about music and respecting everyone who came before and inspired them. How many “big rappers” nowadays show this much respect? Suga hit me hard as always. The energy of the live is crazy.
Kitty loves hip hop too - and his dad. 😂 I couldn’t quite catch his name? But back to the song - Since two of them have underground experience I think we can be sure that they really know and respect the great hip hop icons. I love that they're so genuine and true to themselves in their lyrics.
I think lyrics like this mentioning all the pioneers, who are majorly black people, in rap and hip hop in general is so important considering that in kpop black culture appropriation is something so common and it makes me really happy to see the boys give this shout out that basically says "I know where this came from, I'm thankful and feel infinite amount of respect for those that created it and I'm here only trying to give back and be a small part of this huge movement that is hip hop". They also pay homage to many Korean hip hop artists that came before them and are so rarely mentioned in the current hip hop scene
Oh I get it! I've seen reactions to this video ruclips.net/video/Z5WLRWMYzEU/видео.html , if it doesn't work, maybe he can react only to the lyric video.
