I swear they don’t have any songs with bad lyrics, and their live performances always have so much energy and emotion. This song is just beautiful. Also Suga is totally my bias so I agree with you but they all catch my attention.

When they chose to become BTS, they were confronted by nonsupporters having them and saying that they betrayed hip-hop and they lost many friends. I believe that it was this point in time that RM is referencing. Because the friends he may have looked up to were now turning their backs on him. So he clearly points out "those i looked up to are now beneath/below me." RM & SUGA had to be so determined and strong in order to survive the harsh times in the beginning of BTS. I thank them for sticking to their dreams and becoming the BTS that we know today🤗💜🇺🇲

They looked up to some of the TV show Hosts...and were treated badly...Their Company had to create their own shows Just so they could be seen in a good light ,,,They have since reunited with Hosts ( BTS graciously gave them a 2nd chance)

In Korea idols I widely looked down on by rappers and "real" musicians. I think what suga wanted to say was how did him becoming an idol change his character, hes start was as an unknown daegu rapper and that will never change

The part that you confused, I think that’s because of translation problem. Yes that is straightly translated word by word, but somewhat different meaning in Korean actually.
Great reaction! Keep in mind that, sometimes, there are mistakes or really hard expressions to translate from Korean to english. Sometimes, a whole text is needed to explain a Korean idiom.
I am really confused by this recommendation. Why would someone recommend a mash up of performances of Born Singer which in its original iteration was a seriously emotional expression? Why not show Dean the 2015 performance with the legendary inward facing circle? The emotion of their hard trainee days and the ridicule they were receiving was palpable in that performance. Instead someone recommended that a newbie to the song witness it blended with the less emotional (though good) 2017 performance by an already successful BTS. To me fan made videos have their place, but recommending a fan made video as a go to instead of actual concert footage most often just enhances the circus of BTS performances while obscuring or diluting aspects of their artistry. Born Singer is one of BTS's very first songs and frankly one of their most personal. Early on singing it evoked tears in members. I hate playing a downer but why choose a fan made video for a first exposure to Born Singer? 2015 was an historical moment choreographed impactfully . This computer generated material kind of obscures a landmark on the BTS timeline. There is one saving grace. Dean is a first rate reactor who actually goes out of his way to interpret lyrics. The next reactor given fan made stuff won't be as sharp as Dean.
