    It would be kick ass if you did a video on your opinion of the pack - raft. Don't want it to go to your head but : your thoughts on white water matter, been thinking about getting one, but don't know anyone else who's actually used one. Fun video ☮️

      I love mine! I have taken it on a lot of fun waters over the past couple of years and it is my go to boat more than not. I read an article that said it makes you feel like a better boater than you are....I believe that to be true. You wont be disappointed. Plus that company rocks. They love what they do and want you to be happy. I really wanna try out the wolverine they have. From what I understand it is a bit more playful than the narwhal. The gear bags they have fit great on the packraft and are well made.

      I'll work on that. My first impression is that a hardshell kayak is WAY better for whitewater. This is a niche boat for floating down rivers after hiking 15+ miles to get to them.

      @@GearGarageTV You are exactly right, I didn't start kayaking until my 40's. I wish I would have started in my 20's then I for sure would have had fun with a hard shell. My first was a Tomcat solo and I loved it. It is a beast to lug around, at 49 I am happy to be able to twirl that Narwhal over my head:) Your info and show makes me laugh, Thanks for sharing and I look forward to more fun stuff.

    That was great, you clearly can paddle. Amazing how you got in those small eddys. Looked like it ferried pretty well.

    Just bought a Gnarwhal, looking forward to a 5 day trip in February down in Fiordland doing the Holyford-Pyke Loop. Thanks for sharing, and as an ex-Oregonian, I am keen to know which river this was.

    Nice! I finally got to test mine (not a pack raft) with half a load through my river area. Worked well.
    Trying to find a way to go camp for a couple weeks before the cold sets in.

      I personally like the Bakraft more but AIRE stopped making it so that will probably make your decision easy

    What are your thoughts on the bow bag?

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV  2 года назад

      The bat is really sweet. I don't like that it attaches to the boat with non-locking clips.

    • @Wyoutside
      @Wyoutside 2 года назад

      The idea of non locking is for safety in this case if you’ll believe it. Should your foot/hand/whatever get caught up under the bag, between the bag and boat and between the 4 various attachment points, the 2lb nite-ize mini carabiners will bend/break instead of increasing a potential entrapment situation. Best plan Alpacka could come up with. Should you put lockers there, then you’d be hoping for material, glue, or stitching failure should you become entrapped. I’ve not been entrapped with the bag myself but have had it get caught on branches and the mini biners just get bent and mangled. I carry a spare biner just in case.

    so for a long weekend: packraft or Wing Jimbo

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV  2 года назад +1

      I would only choose the packraft if there was a long hike with the boat involved

  • @kiplambel4052

    That was fun, but I'm thinking this one isn't going to be making the Chetco wilderness run

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV  2 года назад +1

      I think you could do the Chetco with this boat but in my opinion the Bakraft and Jimbo are better boats for that type of whitewater

    Why do you all catch every eddy? Seems like you could run through a few and keep the run going.
