I’m obsessed with everything about this! I love 90s theme park entertainment so freaking much. The 90s had a special cheese factor you don’t get anymore
Hello… my friend sent me this video. I was Green Goblin. My friend Berry was Spiderman, Jim was Sanertooth on the bike, Lee was Wolverine and I’m sure I could research some other names. Most of us went on to become successful stunt professionals in the TV and film industry. Thanks for posting this! It brought back some great memories.
Hey! You did amazing work. I was dying at the way you ran away in the video. I'd love to chat with you for a podcast or for future content, hear some stories I'm sure you have! You on any social media?
I love giving ol’ Gobby a hard time!
Thanks Spidey!
19:10 I was there for a few of those shows! Daredevil would jump off the building to an Evanescence "Bring me to life" soundtrack. and they also had Spiderman swing down the main road/walkway towards what is now the Transformers building with wire works. it was wild. Some core memories of theme park experiences with shows right there.
OMG NO WAY. NOT EVANESCENCE.
These stunt shows are honestly very impressive, like the Green Goblin glider stunt is awesome and the Mystique transformation is simple but effective.
The costumes are of course a bit less polished than what we get today, but I think they have their own campy charm.
Also, I love how the second stunt show canonically has someone in the audience die, like I can just imagine being a kid and getting traumatized because you don't get that this guest was an actor just pretending, so you really think they are grabbing random people and throwing them in acid for the show.
I can't believe they murder a guest. hahahah its amazing. Disney could never.
@@DistoryDan The show must go on and sometimes that means sacrificing the audience.
I was the Green Goblin, i didn't know this footage existed. We had a great time on this show.
A super-hero bad guy is called a villain, Dan.
1:23 Green goblin in a full sprint from the authorities gave me such a laugh. Man, do I wish this was still a thing, I would have loved to interact with Dr. Doom and Magneto, pictures for sure!
Granddad in the corner was pretty cool
Are you gonna do costume evolutions of classic cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, Tom and Jerry, Popeye the Sailor Man, The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, and Scooby-Doo?
A Marvel Scare House? AWESOME
14:13
BRO...
BRO.....
*IS THAT CARNAGE!?*
Really wild right?
Not just that, the same house had the likes of The Punisher trying to burn everyone out of paranoia that they may have been contaminated by a symbiote, and Crossbones was chasing people around, as well! ^^
@@DistoryDan there was a travel channel special about this horror nights. I can’t find it but they had creepy clowns in Seuss Landing and also had Raptors that jumped out at you in Jurassic Park.
Ooh that makes sense. As a marvel fan i was confused why punisher would be there lol @ToshisGarden
@@invaderpez12 No problem ^^
Gotta love how Marvel stopped the whole Carnage House of Horrors thing or whatever by being like “Hey, we don’t want kids to think these heroes are actually dead”…when I think that happened the year before MARVEL ZOMBIES!”
1993 Magneto thighs are off the wall! FEED THE ALGO!!!!
THOSE THIGHS!
This was amazing. I kinda wish this show was still around. It would work well in that abandoned theater near Marvel Island
It really would not have made any sense to have Deadpool at the maximum Carnage haunted house. Because by 2002 Deadpool wasn't really a villain he was more or less an anti-hero. He also had his own monthly comic by then too.
Also having deadpool there would break the atmosphere, since he would make it more comedy horror than straight horror.
Someone must have edited the audio of those X-Men shows, as Storm's "Haa Haa Haa" is missing when she attacks. 😂
Punisher being in the carnage house makes me laugh cause like, he's not a villain, Frank what are you doing? Lmao
Not sound too nerdy but the benefits of Uru (what Thor's hammer is made of) and Vibrianum (Wankandan metal and what Captain America's shield is made of) in Marvel comics is that they have no magnetic poles. Iron Man isn't magnetic technically either because it's a lot of gold and non magnetized material as well. But the point is Magneto's power is that he can manipulate magnetic poles, so couldn't do anything to repel Captain America's shield.
Fictional Metals are my favorite kind.
@@DistoryDan Gold and stronger alloys are real that Iron Man uses in movies and comics that don't have magnetic poles. So not all are fictional..
And having Magneto affect Wolvie's adamantium laced bones would not be suited for the parks. I remember that 90s plotline and bone claw Wolvie for a bit after Mag-f'n-neto very viscerally ripped the adamantium out...
@@mindwarp42 What would Magneto do in prehistoric days? He'd be pretty useless.
It depends on the writer. There are comics in which he's been able to affect vibranium.
I’m sorry but I’m super distracted by that watermark of 7 Grand Dad dabbing
GRAND DAD. FLINSTONES? AWWW!
I love these deep dives into old theme park shows and parades. So interesting!
15:51 I would have loved to see Deadpool at the event considering more that in those times Deadpool was more of a villain/antagonist than the hero he is today.
Weirdly (I think either prior or after being acquired by Disney), Marvel would do some darker comics including Marvel Zombies... Which, if Universal ever decides to try doing Halloween Horror Nights across both parks again, they could do a Marvel Zombies maze 😂
Marvel zombies is pre Disney iirc
Wow, long before Disney’s acquisition of Marvel in 2009 with their originally planned stunt shows.
please do the history of ghostbusters at universal studios.
With the maximum carnage house, I heard Marvel was upset that kids would think the hero’s are really dead and stop buying comics. The irony is comic characters are often killed and rebooted numerous times.
DISVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
storrm blowing up dr doom was so funny to me, love that for her
I flippin love these old Marvel live shows!
I’m so happy this vid exists
The Macy’s Marvel parade float next????
There's just something special about the 90's era of Marvel I love it!
The reason they hated the house was even dumber, they thought that people seeing dead heroes would hurt their comic sales.
I wish they would bring back HHN at Island Adventures! It seemed very awesome! A horror carnage is awesome!
Oh, they used Crimson Commando. He was this elderly mutant (like, served in WWII) who joined Freedom Force, which was what the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants became after Mystique struck a deal with the U.S. government. He got injured on a mission in the Middle East and turned into a cyborg. And for a little while in the early '90s, Marvel seemed to think they were going to do more with the character but never really did.
OH NY GOD! THE MODULAR ARMOR USED IN ACTION? That’s so rad.
Quips.
That's the one thing Marvel is missing at Avenger's campus. Superheroes, Marvel heroes especially should be saying corny lines every time they open their mouths. "Will the real Spider-Man please stand up" is the exact kind of thing that would come out of Peter's mouth
2:51 dude got the Rob Liefeld treatment
Speaking of Universal, ever consider doing a Woody Woodpecker costume evolution?
Who would've thought the woodpecker treated Marvel super heroes better than the mouse would about 20 years later?
So cool!!!! I wish they still have something like these. Also, I like the Marvel arrangements at the theme parks. Universal represents Marvel from the past while Disney represents Marvel in the present/future. Does anyone remember Marvel Universe Live?
I used to go to Marvel Mania all the time when I was a kid. I still have a menu somewhere.
What did you order?
Here's to hoping Mr. Sinister shows up at Oogie Boogie Bash this year!
Never heard of this but when are you gonna do a costume evolution of Alvin and the chipmunks?
3:57 I feel a lot of this logical analysis was written by Kenny 😂
This was truly amazing! Although I would’ve loved to have seen sam Raimi and Fox versions of Spider-Man and the x men here before Disney got the rights. I would’ve loved to have seen cringe Wolverine with emo Peter. In fact if that’s not in avengers secret wars, then sorry Disney missed a huge opportunity.
Dan, now that Ghostbusters is going back to the Universal Park, fancy doing something GB? I'd love a look at Ghostbusters stuff through the ages! Well, the last 40 years. It IS the anniversary this year after all! Cheers m' dear!
Ok so I think the voice for Spidey in the 94 stunt show was the same guy from the PS1 game
I'm sad that I missed those Marvel shows. There was an equivalent Marvel Superhero Showdown show at Universal Studios Hollywood, likely in 1995 as well. There were commercials for it on TV. I have not been able to find any footage of it though. I worked at Universal Studios Hollywood when they opened Marvel Mania, and when they had some of the characters doing meet and greets at the park. It was awesome, and I went to the restaurant several times while it was open.
Ok so I looked into that, I believe it was a meet and greet, and had a trading card element. But there is ZERO evidence of it existing or anything to show. Haha
@@DistoryDan I saw those cards! When I worked there, I asked about the show, and I was told that it was a stunt show, like the one in Florida, but at the outdoor amphitheater that was demolished shortly after that show. It may have been the last thing that played there. It was small, and by the time I worked there it had been torn down and replaced with outdoor carnival games. I distinctly remember the TV commercial though, which had the characters posed as a group at the Universal Studios Hollywood sign. I have tried for years to find footage or photos of this, but no luck. There are a couple instances like that, for example, they had costumed characters from Small Soldiers when that movie came out, and when I worked there I remember them, but stupidly never took photos. I have not been able to find any photo evidence of those characters either!
Now I want to go to Chili's. Thanks a lot, Dan!
This got me thinking, wouldnt it be cool if they had some lazer light inside of Cyclop's visor to give him a cool effect? Im surprised they havent done this yet.
Also WHY is cyclops so ripped??
Seeing these costumes on vhs makes them almost look real
I know!!!
I long for the insanity of 90s theme parks. You just don’t get stuff like this anymore.
You really don’t.
Wouldnt it be more accurate to call it marvel/superhero stunt show, since these arent necessarily just X-men focused?
Edit: ay he fixed it, ty Dan!
This might be a fever dream but I swear there was video of a live show with what were the extreme ghostbusters at the time fighting mister sinister
Street atmosphere entertainment had characters interacting a lot. It was probably that!
I like how you go "why universal, why don't you do stuff like this show anymore" then show the stuff at Disney 😂
I get it tho, the fights at Avengers Campus are kinda lame, but at least its better than the nothing that Universal does at IoA.
Avengers Campus needs more villains tbh.
Did you happen to find any footage of the Marvel Mania grand opening? I remember it involved Spider-Man rappelling down from the roof of the Hilton on a zipline.
Iron Man would've easily defeated those villains if he used his infinite combo from MAHVEL 2.
LIGHT PUNCH!
Keep up the good work Dan! ❤
These Marvel stunt shows are cool [although I always feel nervous about stunt shows as there's always a chance of something going wrong]. I like the Spiderman ones the most, but I may be biased as Spider-Man is one of my favorite superheroes [especially the one from The Electric Company, he's hilarious]. On a different note, I think a video talking about the evolution of Jack from Jack In The Box [the clown head signs, the drive thru, the walkaround costume from the 60s/70s, print ads, the only three 1970s animated commercials that are on RUclips as well as the three comics with record, the period in the 80s when they dropped Jack, to all of the crazy lore surrounding modern era Jack] would be awesome, especially as this year is the 75th anniversary I believe.
8:48
Bro WTH happened to this random guy 😭
Hey disneyland could you perhaps do a snoopy mascot history
the reason why the maximum carnage horror house closed there were a headless spiderman wolverine with no arms and a bloody captain america but it might not be true because its lost media
Not necessarily, it wasnt just that but marvel was worried people wouldnt buy comics after thinking they were dead.
@@invaderpez12 i forgot to say that when i comented it sorry
Okay, mister sinister definitely would of gotten a picture with me, too bad it’s the early version without the long hair, but that’s just me being picky
Do a Video for the power rangers meet and greet at Disney from the 2000s
I remember this! Saw it on my first universal trip.
Which one????
Great video Dan love your daily posts
cooool
Who’s that ninja looking guy from HHN?
PLEASE do an Evolution of Pumba!
What about Timon?
Do you know Universal still have an superheroes island
Cool
I got some ideas for new costumes characters for Disneyland
Ooo cool
Dan's don't mix with Jimmy's.
When are you going to make the costume evolutions on Thomas the Tank Engine and Donkey Kong?
August & Fall when the ride opens!
I love what you do
0:25 oh ho
You know in a matter of time until Universal Studios Florida just give up on Marvel Land, and give the rights to Disney World, and turn that into either a DC Land or Godzilla Monster Island or ever a Kirby Land.
DC would be the most likely. If they did kirby itd be an expansion to nintendo world.
Hello 👋 Dan
How long does Universal own the right to Marvel? As in the Name, since that's the reason why there's no Avenger's Campus in Florida and why Disney can't use the Marvel name in theirs Theme Parks.
As long as they want to keep us in the parks 🤷♂️
As long as they keep renewing the contract.
Hi
101 like
Okay so Kenny must not have worked on this video because there are many mistakes. As a comics fan this is hard to hear. A for effort Dan
C for Comics
@@DistoryDanm for Marvel. And Muppet.
Uh?
