    I drilled this earlier in the week and for the life of me couldn't get it right. I now see Rob let's his Del Riva hook hang out where as I was trying to leave mine inside the leg. Thanks for the video cause I was thinking all week about this technique 😂

    The best part of this video is Stephan making sure everyone knows what it means to 'spam' someone with a move

    Question: it seems like the ankle lock is coming on as Stephan falls backwards. Is that correct? If so, what steps should you take when using it with less experienced training partners? ( I.e. so you don't accidentally break their ankle if they fall back in an uncontrolled way)

      It definitely hits the hardest as he is falling, it's shocking how fast it gets tight when you feel it. If you're worried about hurting your partner, sit up a little as they fall, it relieves some of the pressure. It also can give them a window to escape but that's the tradeoff for protecting someone that might not know to tap early.

    Hi. I am a white belt. Should I try doing this? Or is it too dangerous for the knee?

    • @StephanKesting
      @StephanKesting  5 месяцев назад

      I would first develop the lower risk leglocks like ankle locks and knee bars if they are allowed at your school. That way you learn control without running the risk of exploding someone’s leg

    I too will pull guard at the same time as him and butt scoop to avoid this lol.

    i'm getting mixed results with this so far. sometimes i get it, sometimes people (mostly experienced belts) longstep pass me from the position

    • @StephanKesting
      @StephanKesting  5 лет назад +4

      Are you keeping the other butterfly hook on the inside of his other leg to stop him from stepping?

    • @sch2412
      @sch2412 5 лет назад +2

      @@StephanKesting they shed the hook right away, get a pant and a collar grip and perform a standard longstep pass. I think that I just need to get more proficient with the entry
