Bush Plane Landing on EXTREME Mountain Runway
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2022
- This runway located in the Star Mountains of Papua, 12 minute flight from Oksibil village and located in the same valley as Kiwirok. It's position relatively to the predominant up and down valley winds can make it a real challenge to land, specially if with a quarterly tailwind.
The locals are very friendly and often give me bananas to take home.
The flight was recorded over a year and using only one camera for the main footage.

As Indonesian.. I thank you so much for what you gaes have done for my people in Papua. You have risk your life to fly there and landed on a short runaway. God bless you and keep you safe. You and your family.
Shameful that Indonesia never let West Papua have independence like they were meant to. Papua is one country.
@@rogerp53 PAPUA belong NEGARA KESATUAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA..since under JOKOWI administration Papua now more better for infrastructur, welfare funding ,autonomy like desentralisation , education etc..even more developed compare PAPUA NEWGUINEA..
The History Papua or Irian Jaya different like Timor Leste (the poorest country in the world)....since year 1962 PEPERA/referendum ..the people of Papua was declared to unite to INDONESIA..

As a retired airline captain I take my hat off to you guys flying like that.
@Donsland - Like. I imagine you seen some sphincter squeeze moments in your time, narly weather
It’s difference between pilot and " push- buton "
Yah this is incredible
Could you make video of your activity now?
Most skilled pilots
My dad helped build runways like that in PNG as a Kiap in the 60s and 70s.
I was born up in Goroka 👌
The pilot's confidence about the route and the strip they are going to land on made it look beautifully easy. Good work.
Single engine ops over that terrain? Can't believe the max takeoff weight isn't exceeded once the pilot's balls are factored in.
Hahaha that's a good one Nick 🤣 above the size of the balls, one needs to love what one does. Thanks for your comment!
Its a turbine engine so that helps
The type of ops the Porter was designed for.
Large balls affect the load chart mate.....lol...
Not to mention the eggs, the pots and the pans. Having spent close to 40 years flying in the cloistered airline industry I doubt if I would survive a week doing this sort of work.
Great job in and out. The kids faces watching the drone. Truly a life line to the outside world.
It is indeed Daniel. Thanks so much for your comment 🙏🙏
I watched your face closely during the landing and not one little twinge of nervousness. Outstanding!!!!!!
Most would have a warm lump in their panties making that landing.
While taking my father in a Cessna to visit and buzz his brother's home in northern Minnesota he opened up about his time in the Pacific. He said the last time he was in a small plane he was delivering a pig which he held in his lap to a small village in the jungle. The pig was a way of thanking the villagers for their help with driving the Japanese off of their island. I wish my father had been able to get some pictures of the pilot and the strip they surely would have been remarkable.
That's such a awesome story. Thank you so much for sharing it 🙏☺️
Hats off to the pilot...some skilled flying there! And to the people who built that runway...alot of labour, carving out a runway on a mountain side! Wonderful job to all!!! Blessings to all!!
L
Smoooooth all the way. Seeing those kids faces as they experience a drone is priceless. Thanks for sharing. Keep them videos coming !!
it takes balls of titanium to land in a runway like that. hats off to you man.
Ive spent over 20 years working and living in PNG. So much of what these guys do isn't even about flying. The respect and love they show for these people has far reaching effects on these communities. Sometimes the only hope these people have is the planes arrival, with much needed food and medicines. I visited many communities in the "mix-master belong Jesus", (helicopter), and those visits were always eagerly anticipated..
Thank you so much for your kind comment and sharing your opinion. God bless you sir 🙏
Just another day at the office for an experienced bush pilot.....he knows his airplane, and his basic flying skills are ALL there. I was a CFI-I and stick-and-rudder teaching was my forte. This is that concept applied in the "real world" to perform needed services to very isolated people who depend on these flights. Kudos to this pilot !!
Best bush plane ever! You guys have balls of steel flying anywhere in West Papua or Png highlands!
Thanks so much for your comment, Crow. Keep well!
In a single-engined 'plane, yes!
....And he's doing it like
"It's Nobody's Business" ! 😯

@@monchichis333 Agreed.

If it fails or faulters is the scenario to which I refer.
Oh, super landscapes! Mountains and fog! Clear sky for you! Thanks!
As much as we, meaning those of us with all the corporate ideals of what is supposed to make us happy, those people living in that beautiful mountainous setting are living a really sweet life!
KISS is an acronym their lives means! Those trails between homes are what we work 50 weeks for to go hiking for our 2 week vavcation.
I really appreciate your comment, Willie. On point!! I think the same way as you. The paradigms are completely different. Keep well!
Hopefully more of us realize this!
I have no qualifications to say this, but my God you're an incredible pilot. So glad I got recommended this channel/video. Wow.
Unsung heroes of a much valued service!
Flying on a single engnie aircraft over such mountains - brr, goosebumps!
In my humble opinion, this pilot is on a par with most jet jocks that land on Aircraft Carriers.
Wow, the scenery is just amazing. Particularly the takeoff shows it off. And what a lovely bunch of people!
I love this Aviation services while serving remote communities. Full Respect
Big salute to the Pilot ❤️
As a non-pilot, as I read through the comments how easy this pilot made it look. What a pro!!
Great community from the pilots to the diggers who made the run way !
Much respect and admiration!
I couldn't find a cooler video, this is awesome
Wow, thanks so much!
For reasons youtube suggested me your channel and videos and I love it. The flying, the scenery, amazing to watch. Especially only with subtitles and no commentary it is very enjoyable to watch.
Amazing video quality ! The Pilatus PC 6 is my favourite bush plane!
I flew PC-6 in Bangladesh with MAF Austrilia before I joined our National flag carrier Airline BIMAN BANGLADESH. My Chief Pilot was Captain Norm Lathem; I still salute him!!
Porter is an absolute beast... the real bush plane
I salute to This pilot. he is a real hero i have seen in my life 😘😘😘
These bush pilots are amazing, I flew dusters for 20 years, and this is a lot more scary !
You guys are living my dream of flying in pacific islands. Lucky you.
The best ever footage one can see also most riskiest of landing and Take off. Hats off to this extraordinary skills of this pilot.
Молодчина. На своем месте, на радость людям .
Man, you guys are braver than me.
I'd be crying like a baby.
THE MORE I WATCH THESE VIDEOS THE MORE I WANT TO FLY MY PAPER AIRPLANE. GOOD JOB SHARING YOUR VIDEOS. STAY SAFE PILOT.
I really enjoyed watching this. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos. Thanks for putting these together to share your experience. It is so unique.
daaaaaaamn!!!
WHAT FUN!!!!
Thanks for sharing, mate! Really felt I was there!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Best way of flying...ever
*Two words to describe his talent... Skilled Professional*
Wow!! That's all I can say about your landing skills! Impressive to say the least!!!
I am from New Delhi, India. When I saw the air strip I was very frightful to see the security of all. Hats off to pilot as well as all those involved in it. I pray god to keep u all safe. Love from new friend from India.
Greatly enjoyed this video! Amazing ops, and extremely well conducted imo. Somehow you still managed to preserve plenty of safety margin. Thanks for sharing! Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.
Obrigado pelo seu comentário, Gustavo. Um abraço!
Amazing scenery in Papua
Great video! Gotta say, that's a nice steep sloping runway. I used to fly for Douglas Airways some 30+ years ago on the other side of the border and never had a dull moment flying there.
You will remember Avdev then......based in Kiunga.
Thank you for your time and service to them.
I love your drone video in every post. Pace mace dong senyum saja... 😁😁😍😍
Very enjoyable. I spent a year in Papua New Guinea flying Islanders. Have yet to recover.
Must have been amazing flying islanders around PNG!
What a wonderful wonderful service you provide to this village. Makes me proud to be a pilot and I wish I could help.
Happy you feel that way! Thanks so much for watching 🙏
Such a pleasure to watch a true master of his craft at work! That was amazing!
Based in Sentani, a few years ago, I got a guide and we walked for 2 days in the hills surrounding the town. It did not take me long to understand the usefulness of a Pilatus, in that part of the world...
As a retired airlines guy myself who started flying in tail wheel, I’m very impressed with the abilities of these young men. Wish I could be a reserve pilot.
Fantastic scenery the Star Mountains. I worked at the Ok Tedi mine in the early 1980s, also Ertzberg mine across the border. Yes, the local people were always friendly despite the mines being problematic to say the least. Ertzberg didn’t even have an airstrip, we flew in with an ex-US army Iroquois. I seem to remember the Ok Tedi strip was quite short in a Fokker Friendship.
You will remember Avdev C-206's and Islanders out of Kiunga.
Thanks for capturing such beauty
Wow! Incredible. Thanks for posting.
You are living a life well lived. Props!
it takes great skill and courage to fly a plane in Papua, where there are many mountains and the weather changes frequently, the government must immediately help build road infrastructure so that the economy can progress more quickly.
Terimakasih kasih pak pilot sudah mengabdi ke pedalaman Papua ....
Best respect...
Semoga kelak menjadi ladang amalmu...

Nice video all around. Good cameras setup, good editing and interesting captions that add to the overall content.....not to mention some very interesting flying situations. The PIP piece with the rudder work was particularly nice, nice touch repeating the landing footage from different camera angles. I subscribed.
Cool, nicely presented. Thank you
Very nice see that people smiling in the end! Great take of and landing.
Now this is the Tailwheel Aircraft I would love to be flying out on mission and this is real highly recommended mountain flying experience
Wow !! I congrat you guys ! I can honestly say that is the fisrt time I have ever felt nauseous watching a RUclips video !
I had to give up my pilots license due to medical issues. I miss flying so much. Fantastic tail wheel skills. What an experience flying in Papua. God Bless
Why did your loving God deliberately give an illness?
I almost ended up there in Papua flying for the MAF 40 years ago, but they told me I was too old lol. Kinda glad now things worked out that way as some of those landing strips (especially at altitude) appear almost suicidal. You are a legend mate... well done and GBU.
wow. It's really fun to experience flying with unusual terrain and pilots can interact more with the local people there. what a very valuable experience from a noble job
What an incredibly green place. Snowing here today.
Thats one hell of a ride.
Goosebump short Take of and landing. Hats off.
What a wonderful thing for these people living remotely to have this contact. Well done pilot and those financing the aeroplane.
Hats off to the engineers , who made this runway and pilot also.
This runway landing is scarier than Lukla airport of Nepal.
I love those Pilatus Porters!
Great job Andre. The best video of your collection. Very pro. I enjoyed every minute of it. JCP
Thanks so much dad!

Again awesome footages of the Porter and area. Keep up with these videos. Terima kasih banyak.
Congratulations to you guys and also this pilatus porter is such a equipment…👍
I don't know how that plane could even take off with the weight of the pilot's huge brass balls. Unbelievable piloting skills. Thanks for the video.
Hahahaha 🤣🤣 thanks for the comments JJ
OMG if I had been on this plane at take off or especially landing I would have died. Very good pilot!
It's nice to watch a nature gifted scenario like this , njoy a typical ride bro .

Great work/excellent video cam placement and wrk.
Awesome pilot. And beautiful village up there in heaven.
It's so impressiv and undoutable too! Great pilot!
I have seen bush runways in Idaho that make this look stellar
Genial Piloto!
Una profesión única para disfrutar.
Wonderfull very beautiful landscape we dont see the papua peopel it must to be génial to stay in this land ❤ bonjour les papous.❤😊
Wonderful airplane and flying at it's best.
Great video and great flying skills. Congrats!
Wonderful video and story. I was so inspired that I endeavored to find this airstrip in Microsoft Flight Simulator VR. Google wasn’t much help but I was able to get close with the info in the description and fluked spotting it on the map. Unfortunately it’s not modeled accurately in the sim although I was able to land on it in a Boeing Stearman. What an incredibly beautiful part of the world. So many little villages with their handmade airstrips dotted among the mountains. Thanks so much for sharing 😊
As a private pilot with my Cessna 150 I take my hat off as well……. Bravo…..
Super cool video thanks for sharing this with us.
Nice job with fully adventure taste 😁
