THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TUTORIAL EVER I WAS ABOUT TO GIVE MY MOM AND DAD A PHOTOFRAME BUT COULD NOT FIND THE PERFECT PICTURE. THANKFULLY I GOT THIS TUTORIAL AND IT HELPED ME A TON. THANKS A MILLION. KEEP GROWING
Fabulous tutorial, thanks so much! The only thing I had trouble with, like several others, it the third tip about re-applying it to another image. "Open any smart object" - from where? Do we first have to save a different photo as a smart object? "Add your image in there" - what image? In where? Are we putting the new photo/smart object in the same file we've just worked on? I feel so dumb! Other that that, the tutorial was really easy to follow.
-To open a smart object double-click on its thumbnail or right-click it and choose Edit Content. -Once you are inside the smart object drag the image you want to apply the effect on. -Resize the image you dragged and position it as you like then press CTRL+S -Get back to your main document, and you will find the effect applied to your new image.
@@Pixivu I wish this final step was explained more, in detail, because I have to do all the steps, I cant follow here. still though nice job and tanks for the help.
I followed this using a bouquet of flowers. I couldn't do the liquify effect obviously but it still turned out great. Great tutorial! Thank you so much!
Oh my goodness, it took me so long to find this video until today! I will take my time and apply the instructions, now I can apply a cartoon of myself. I have found a way to do this. Wow! If I can learn GarageBand I can learn Adobe Photo Shop. This was brilliant.
This video deserves a comment: GREAT JOB!!! Thank you. I appreciate your clear concise speech and real time walkthrough as I can listen most of the time and watch when Im not quite sure where to go. This allowed me to create an action as well so I appreciate that you tell the steps so clearly. Also, thank you for not demanding I like and subscribe before I even see the video and even your sponsor break was executed with precision. You set the standard my man!
Great tutorial. From reading comments, it seems like a lot of people are stuck on the same step and your detailed description does not work... maybe make a video just to show how to copy the effect? This is what you are saying and where I get stuck: -To open a smart object double-click on its thumbnail or right-click it and choose Edit Content. (Where is the thumbnail? Do I go to "File - Open As Smartobject"? Should I have pre-saved an image as a psd and gone to "File - Place Embedded"? Where do I find the thumbnail? Already confused, and obviously not doing it right, cause the subsequent steps are not working) -Once you are inside the smart object drag the image you want to apply the effect on. (Once I open ANY smart object, I take the image I want to have effect on and "place embedded" on the smart object, right?)) -Resize the image you dragged and position it as you like then press CTRL+S (When I hit Ctrl+S it asks me to pick a place to save as psd, it does not apply anything... on your end it looks like it's applying the effects... where is it getting the data from?) -Get back to your main document, and you will find the effect applied to your new image. (What? I see that your original is saved as a jpg all of a sudden and then there is this smart object file and all of a sudden the original jpg is the new file?) We are not able to follow your steps, please spell out differently or make a video on how to do that. Thank you.
im having a problem after ive add the overlay effect its going back to the before picture , all the liquify effect will not be there after ie added the overlay effect the second time. thanks. the tutorial was awesome but pls can i get any help for mycomment
so while downloading photoshop there is this option that download photoshop or lightroom plan so for cartoon version of yourself what should one opt for?
hi , im not able to see my applied effect from my layer, so im not able to drag the effect from effect layer to outline layer, is there a way to show it? thank you nice tuts
the liquify tool doesn't bring out the image and if you try fixing it by unclicking the 'use graphic processor' in the graphics processor settings, the image tends to show but i'll still be unable to edit the faces. please how can i fix it
oil paint has been greyed out, i've tried everything but I can't get it back. Why is it that every time Adobe forces you to upgrade app, they get worse each time
really love this, but that last step!! I think I managed to do this with some trial and error in a different way though. I opened upon the modified smart image, then clicked on the base layer which I then overlaid with the new image to which I wanted to apply the effects. Then when saving CTRL-S, it modified the original process with the new image underneath. I was careful to save a copy of the modified image so that I didn't mess up my original cartoon... great tutorial, so much to learn!
This is a really informative video! Thank you! The only problem I had was with your final tip - I couldn't see how you actually applied the effect to another image. I followed what I could, but I really didn't understand how you did it. No success.
Gret video, thank you. I only have one question, how do you apply the filters or layers from tip number one, vibrance, balance and levels, you only show them already displayed but you don't show us how. Think you in advance
great video but I got lost because all shortcuts were based on Microsoft not MAC. Any chance you could translate the shortcuts used. Also, is it possible to explain in more detail how you added an action at the end to cartoonist more photos so quick I couldn't see what you did it was a bit fast.
i have a question: i looked for a picture on the internet to try what yoy explain in this video then I follow step 1 and when I get on step 2 I duplicate the layer en renamed effect but when I go to select and liquify I can't change any value for the face modification it says that it can't find any face... can you tell me why?
This was wonderful. But, I followed this and did one more step but I don't remember what I did in that step. I have 19 more pictures in this series to make match this one. But since I saved it as a JPG I can't look at the history to see what I did. Is there a way to find out what I did to my cartoon effect?
Excellent Training. You took your time and explained everything. I thank you. I subscribed to your channel, and I'm looking forward to learning more. This was awesome.
When I got near the end of the tutorial, you stated to create a High Pass Version by pressing on Alt, Control, Shift and E. I understand that Alt on a Mac is the Option key. But when I tried this, a new high pass layer was not created. Can you help with this please? I am going to use this tutorial create a lot of fun and fantastic images! Thank you SO MUCH! Sue
I seem to get a brown tinge to everything I make (shadows etc), I noticed when you made your high pass filter mine is a brown/red and yours is grey, do you know why that is? thanks bud
That last part, to make any image using the same filter. After you say "open any smart object" not only you do not say how to open a smart object, you go way too fast to follow what you're doing. Other than that. What a great video!! Thank you for the tips
I still can’t figure out or understand how to bring in another image and use the previous work to convert with a couple of clicks mate. Not everyone is a pro. Can you explain in more detail?

If using a Mac, the command to flatten the image is COMMAND-ALT-SHIFT-E. CONTROL-ATL-SHIFT-E is the Windows sequence.
You are the GOAT

wow great effects👍🏻
Thanks dude ❤️❤️
is it possible to say which photoshop version you used as some instructions were not exactly the same as my 2023 version
Hi Mike,
Can you help me on applying the smart filters created to other pictures i have please.
I don't quite understand how to do this part.
Thanks,
the liquify tool doesn't bring out the image and if you try fixing it by unclicking the 'use graphic processor' in the graphics processor settings, the image tends to show but i'll still be unable to edit the faces. please how can i fix it
Superb 👌🏼

I had the same issue.
My face aware liquify is not enabled. From where in my system can I change performance preferences.
7:11 I didn't understand it.. Can anybody help me out what he had done in that part??
This is awesome, but as soon as I converted my layer into a smart object, Liquify greys out and i'm unable to select that filter.

If you use CS5 or CS5.1, search for photoshop pixel bender. It is a free extension from Adobe.

Great video.
Once you make a cartoon image you’re happy with , how might a beginner go about making an animation out of said image. ?

Find another one. photoshop can't detect any faces in this image.
@@Pixivu
Hi,
well i have tryed with 4 or 5 pictures as well from internet as from friends and photoshop still doesn't detect it?
Are the faces looking to the camera with an obvious facial features?
What is your photoshop version?
@@Pixivu Yes they do. I use Photoshop 2020 version 22.0.0.35

It was CC 2020

You can buy software like Prima Cartoonizer that will do the job in a fraction of the time.

Wow this is great.
sorry asking, how come you didn't tell us more detail in final steps? thankx

Hi! I Have a question. How come that when you reduce the opacity on your smart object, your liquify stays intact? min 6:50
it wont let me choose liquify after i make it a smart object?
not me etiher, whats wrong?
