You saved me a ton of money! I'm trying to make a visor on a helmet for my cosplay project but couldn't find a cheap solution for tinting until I saw this. Thank you a million times! Companies trying to sell tinted plastic for $50+ get outta here!
I actually liked the brush strokes as something different. I'd do some of each! 😁
I like the inside method better because it has fewer brush strokes and is less opaque. One thing you might try if you do this again is using nail polish instead of food coloring - I would do a mix of colored polish + clear polish + a few drops of acetone to thin it a bit. I have used this method on similar glass projects in the past and it worked very well, I think because the nail polish is designed to not be too streaky.
Thank you sharing this! I’m going to definitely try this. What a wonderful tip! 💕🤗
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! This gives me an idea for my bathroom. I was thinking how to pop some color around the bathroom and this has solved the issue! Thank you!!!!
+Sharon Collins Thanks Sharon! I'm glad this tip helped 💕🤗
I like both methods, I think I would use the "Paint on" for item that I planed on fill with water, like a vase, and the "Paint in" for other deco :-) really nice job
+tudy runningwater I like that idea! 💕
Wonderful information! This time of year, I'm creating projects for Fall and Thanksgiving. Now I can easily change colors of my plastic display items. Thanks for sharing!
+F. Patricia M. You're welcome!
This is so perfect thank you!!!!
Both are beautiful!
awesome trick, than you for sharring, that helps me a lot for my project
Hello from Georgia Tbilisi - it's another part of the planet !! watching your videos !! I love them ! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us !
+Nina Kvantaliani Hi Nina!! Thanks for watching the videos! I'm glad you are enjoying them and hope that they give you some inspiration. 💕🤗
Hello, Nina K. in Georgia! All one planet; it's so nice to know treshaja's video brings us closer together.
so creative. Both look great. Thanks
+coffee fiend Thank you!!
I'm taking 2 biggish (little smaller than 2liter) store bought tea bottles that my husband buys all the time. I've created hot glue hearts and butterflies (butterflies for my girlfriend) and am going to use your technique on the inside of the shapes! I'm planning on painting it all over with white chalk paint first, so I guess I'll go over the tinted modpog with the pouncer brush to avoid brush strokes or perhaps use a dropper to apply.
Thank you! This was timely!
+rubymimosa Thanks for sharing that! I would love to see the end result. I'm going to have to try the pouncer brush.
I really like them both. Thanks!
+Marie Hawkins Thanks Marie!!
Very cool - I was trying to fill a bottle with something blue that is traditionally white, but coloring the bottle blue was the better alternative!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
I think they both look great
Thats a nice idea. I like the second method best, but I would use both methods depending what decor or craft i would want to do. Thanks for sharing, and have a wonderful day and weekend. Blessings 😇
+Rafaela Perez Thanks Rafaela!! That's true. Have a wonderful day as well! Many blessings 💕🤗
Awesome idea thank you for the tip take care and God bless

+Leslie Bryan Thanks Leslie!

+Kathleen Hahn My pleasure!!
Super helpful. Thank you!
You're welcome! 😊
Coat the inside...this is a great idea... Simple to do with only 2 ingredients
+Walkidia Fradera It sure was very simple to do. Thanks Walkidia!
Well - that was fun. I like pouring the paint.modge podge into the ornament but the brush strokes on the other created a nifty effect, too. I'm wondering if a 2nd pouring into the ornament would make a difference? Nicely done!
+catgirldo Thanks! I would be interested in seeing how it would look doing both together. 🤔
I like the second one the best - wonderful tip
+Debra Johns Thanks Debra! I agree with you.
Very good ideas, thank you , am always looking for new ideas to do , I like it , thanks for sharing .
+Sadry Ortega Thanks Sadry! 🤗
I wondered how to do that!! Thank you ❤👍
You’re welcome!
I like the inside method.
This was awesome! I like both
+MaMaMilky Thanks!!
ooooo I like it!
Gonna use this to tint glasses for a cosplay!
How long should the paint dry before i flip it over? (Using safety glasses to do it)
Awesome! I left it alone for about 24 hours. It may dry sooner than that.
I actually like both you done it again ❤❤
+TashaSoSimple Thanks Tasha! 💕
treshaja ❤
Nice thanks!
I do this on my glass vases to give a sea glass effect! Btw that was yellow food coloring not orange it made orange when mixed to the red lol
+Melody kidd Thats great!! I just love that look.
Wow.. was looking fr tinting.. nice hack.. thank you so much ❤
My pleasure 😊

+Shazi Ch Thanks Shazi!!

+Feathered Oak Thank you!!

+Tammy B. Jones Thanks Tammy!!! 💕

+KATHERINE C.A. JONES Thanks Katherine 💕
I like the ball with the modge podge inside....reason, because it's easier!
+Kathleen Hornbecker LOL ...and you don't have to use a brush. Thanks Kathleen!
Cute idea
+Jamie Zirkle Thanks Jamie!
They are both great methods! Does the food coloring get on your fingers on the outside method once it's dried or does it completely dry and adhere to the plastic and doesn't stain your fingers at all? BTW thanks for sharing again.
+Jelissa Torres Hi Jelissa! The food coloring did get on my fingers (stained it) when I was painting it but not when it completely dried.
Awesome tip
+SmilesBehindLupus Thank you!! 🤗💕
That's cool !!!!
+Angela Nolan Thanks Angela!
Nice, tfs
Amazing Idea. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
+blondie warrior Thanks Blondie!!
Thanks for this great insight. Please how can I get these items in Africa? I don't mind paying to get them.
What if the plastic is a transparent green but I want it to be cyan blue or just clear?
I realy liked your video because now i can tint my viser
Thank you!
Inside, good tip
+Natashia K Thanks girl!! 💕
I like the coating of the inside better, just like to know how to stand it up straight to make an object dry up right, kind of like your concoction but without the concoction (the stick will leave a mark )if that makes sense...lol
+Tonya Winters Tonya, for me, I placed parchment paper down on a flat surface and put the object on top upside down for while until all the excess Mod Podge was gone. You will have to move the object every so often to a different spot on the sheet because the Mod Podge will be pouring out. After awhile, it will stop and it will be dry. I hope this helps.
this seems really cool i might try it. just one question, can i wash the object i paint afterwards without the color getting washed off? lol
Yes you should be able to hand wash the item.
Thanks for this insight. Please how can I get these ingredients in Africa? I don't mind paying for a delivery
If I want the tint to be very dark but still maintain some transparency, can I do several coats?
Will the colour get darker the more coats I put on?
I’m thinking it would get a tad bit darker if you put more coats on there.
hello can any1 help me? instead of using mos podge cab j use any white glue that dries clear bc i live in singapore whr mod podge is not a v popular brand n we cant find it easily...
Yes, you can use white glue instead of mod podge.
If you played a hat in time then you know about the time stop hat, how do you tint plastic if its not a container?
If i dont want the brush marks
Great Job !!!! Can this same method be used on glass items ????
+LuvLegendary Thanks! I believe you can use it on glass as well.
+treshaja I think you may have to put the glass in the oven as the last step.
So if I wanted to do this method on a vase or mason jar I would have to put them in the oven ???? And thanks for replying so quickly, lol...☺️😁
+LuvLegendary Yes, after it dries (where there's no more Mod Podge coming out), you would place the glass face down on wax paper or cookie sheet in the oven on the bottom rack at 170ºF/77ºC (or the lowest possible temperature) and bake for approximately 20 minutes or until the bottle or jar is dry and transparent.
I did that on glass and gave it a frosted look
+Sheila Daves I'll have to try that out
Thanks! I'm trying to make part of a jet set radio character cosplay! :)
Have fun!
After the mod podge dries, can it eventually crackle up and chip off?
How long did it take for it to start crackling/chipping off?
treshaja I didn't use it yet.
I would definitely coat the inside, I hate seeing brush strokes.
+Sonya Eucalyptus Thanks Sonya!
Would this work for tracer goggles?
The inside, That's how I know to do it.
+Flowergirl Power I like that way too!
Inside
+Tracey's World Thanks Tracey!!
Do you think I could tint sunglasses this way?
You could try.
