I had a good laugh when you called the dear a moose, your videos on this game make me want to play it. You give very good tips. Thank you and keep up the good work.
😂I used to sell stone knives by the hundred, not sure what the best early goods are to sell. After your harvest you might make porridge and see if that’s viable. Given that you will have a ton of straw you could try to make baskets in the workshop to sell. For the future I would suggest you make fields of 3x9 . You can have many fields but remember, one worker ONLY can do one task on one field, at a time! This means if you have one huge field you will have ONE farmer fertilising, one hoeing and one seeding. If you have two smaller fields twice as many farmers can work simultaneously! In the valley I have 12 farmers and 8 barn workers!
Ohhh very helpful. Thank you. I made 2 absolutely massive fields in my first playthrough lol. Kept manually farming myself because I never seen the villagers do much themselves lol. This is probably why!
@@keblin86 Me too, the frustration and bewilderment is real when they stand around! Always make sure each building has been given instructions as well, I’m not certain you gave your lumberjack building any work! 😊
4:50 the storage at the well is for empty buckets if you have someone working there and you provide him with buckets directly instead of having someone else making them at the workshop
My second time watching your channel. My tips for money making is hunting. Hunt, cook the meat (roast meat nets you 7 coin per piece plus cooking experience - 3 coins for raw meat no bonus xp.) Sell the fur also, keep leather for bags for farming. Fastest way to take down large game. Save up to buy an iron crossbow and copper bolts. Takes 2 or 3 bolts to take down large game, bears, bull moose, stags. 1 to 2 bolts for deer, boar, badger, wolves. This is the fastest way to get coin thus far with the bew updates. Tip two: explore everything. Lots of gear to be used or sold and most abandoned places have coin pouches hidden around. Pay close attention to the window sills. Tip three, Winter is coming and its brutal. It will absolutely wreck you and villagers. I HIGHLY recommend getting cold weather gear, and upgrading the homes. The better the upgrading, the warmer everyone is and use less resources like firewood. Your next few houses make out of stone (its easier to find stone around than logs for a home, and upgrade those homes to daub and or limestone as soon as you can. I cant tell you how many times I died from freezing, and i lost a villager because i wasnt keeping up with the firewood demands fast enough. (I had just over a 100 and thought that was enough for 2 villagers. Its not even close.) Once I upgraded homes 100 was plenty.
Thanks for the tips! I started making notes for episode 2 and my first note is "Winter is coming!" So you and I are thinking alike! haha. Ep3 will mostly be my winter preparations I expect!
Lesson from a past mistake of mine. Plant flax so that you can make thread and then keep the fur. You'll be able to make warmer clothes for the winter so you don't have to carry a torch with you all the time.
I know I'm very late to the party but there is a fish exchange that is absolutely crazy but very useful for group gaming. At the beginning stages of the game if you buy pike from the food vendors at the different towns, you can then either cook them up and sell them as roasted fish or if you have the hunters lodge you can dry or (my personal favorite) salt them if you have a cave nearby. Pike turn into 7 fish meat and sell from like 10-19 coin depending on barter level and means of preparation. Also has better effects when ate.
If the villagers are at their assigned workstation, I've noticed that there's two different animations: one is when they're lounging and that usually means that they don't have the tools or materials that they need in order to perform their work. The other is when it looks like they're actively working (in this case using the cutting plane on a log at the wood station) that is when they're actively collecting logs and sticks or they're cutting them down into planks and firewood.
inspection of villagers is great, but when you talk to him/her, click on small talk, then click on Can you tell me about your skills, they either say only one thing, or they say two things or three, it is their happiest work if you choose them based on that . Their mood will be happier.

Just found out about your channel, i think you have so much potential. Is really nice listening to you talk cause you're very funny and informative too, keep it going!
Tip for hunting: If you wound them you can see they are bleeding out with the damage animation, you can start hunting another animal while the first bleeds out. There's some really large groups of Deer this works wonders on. You can just injure each one then focus on skinning as they all bleed out :p Animals don't stray too far from their spawn, and will basically stay in a radius from a center point. You can see it if you chase them away from their spawn, they will circle around the spawn point.
Nice to see the new map running. Its on my list but i have not got to it yet. Your thought about not outpacing your growth is a good one. Did that my first run and it got a bit tricky...build essientals and the buildings you will need in the moment. Tips/ notes: Your house has a cooking pot. Check what you need to cook here for stew/meat and gravey/ potage. If you can cook these here like the origional map do NOT build the kitchen until later. Use your house. Each building has taxes assigned to it so you want it to be useful. Sticks can be gathered with no tool cost and made into baskets or bolts or tools as well as being a building material. I would put some intensity towards this. Grow flax next spring - it is useful to sell and for crafting once you can spin it into thread and fabric Grow some veggies. Cabbages unless it was nerfed, cabages give 4 rot each once decomposed. The can also be planted and collected twice a year. Onion unless altered gives good food to material cost for meat and gravey early to mid game Carrots can be planted in winter and have a few recipe options. Great to spread out you planting and harvesting load. Make some plates or bowls for meals once you hit a point the roasted meat is not quite doing it. Sewing hut and extraction shed are useful for providing you resources: thread and linen for bows and bags, and straw (year round), stone, limestone and clay to progress your village The hunting logde and smithy would be on my list soon for cash flow. The lodge first as feathers can be gathered with no tools used and feathers are light weight cash. You can also craft some things in the lodge - check the new prices before buying the plan. A recurve bow is a good wepon and historically a popular request for quest givers. If you look at the management screen you will see your current accumulated taxes to be paid in spring. This amount goes up every season. If you look at the job interface you will see the rate the tool durability is consumed. I tend to use stone and wood tools early game for exp - unless in dire need and unable to craft the tool i would not recommend to buy any tool. Esp stone or wood. Iron or bronze perhaps pending your cash flow. Once you get the mine though you should not need to buy any tools again! Wood demand: keep an eye on this, your villagers will leave if their mood hits -100. Being without wood to burn will accomplish that. Also yoi should ONLY allow them to burn fire wood this is the most efficient and keeps your building resources safe. Turn off all except firewood in the menu once you make some firewood to use is my rec. Fall and winter ramp up the wood demand. If they run low on firewood you will get a warning and some time to fix it before anyone leaves.
@Kysen your welcome looking forward to seeing the rest of your playthrough and the changes the devs have made! Sheep can be profitable- they are my preferred animal for cash. Pigs - only should need 1 or 2 for manure. Cows can be good for milk and sour milk to make cheese. Note: Chickens are the shortest lived animal at about 6y lifespan. Ensure you save the chick's from their last year or so to prevent needing to replace all your laying hens. For breeding i like to have a ratio of 1 rooster to 2-3 hens Animals are not very viable until you are more established due to start up cost. However buying a chick will be cheaper, and it will mature in 2-3 seasons into an adult. Buying chicks may be the way to go if you want them now.
Though hunting is somewhat more of a challenge its defo become much much more rewarding and what I have been doing is selling roast meat and turning leather into bags and making decent $$ with that. I still do the old stone knives but mostly due to it being easy and something I can do on the walk to town and yeah not much coin in it but every bit helps. Not sure if you know but when selecting a resource from your inventory it will tell you where it should ideally be stored and for example if you are in the resource shed and looking at say planks it will also be in green and any food with show in red 'food storage' hope that makes sense. Also you actually dont need to put worker tools like axes into the work stations chest, just put them into the resource storage and they'll get them from there. Great episode!
I like the building timelapses. This is the first time I'm watching anything to do with this game besides a trailer and seeing the building process is good for me to see it and compare to other builders like Valheim. But also, I've discovered new music from your timelapses and other youtuber timelapeses that I would never have been exposed to otherwise and some of my favorite songs/artists have been discovered this way. I can see episodes much much later in the series that could skip them but this early doesnt quite give the same vibe of I'm watching this be played in real time/nearly real time that I'd have expected for a game that I dont think has been out that long. I know I could watch a stream to get the full real time play along, but having the more condensed/timelapse of the action happening vs finding a streamer much further into game...this is more approachable for me. I make it a priority to get the Iron Cross bow asap. It is awesome for hunting! I played a lot in the Valley. Over 300 hours over various playthroughs and enjoyed them all.
Just got into this game (on year 4 of my first play through). Looks like you were on the trail of what I’ve done to make early game money. I mostly hunt big game (Moose, Wisent, Bear) being that leather sells (not valued) for 4 coins and meat sells for two. Each animal basically nets you between 150-200 coin.. and that’s without crafting the leather into bags (which makes it even more valuable and increases your Production tech
The first thing I did was buy an iron crossbow as it makes hunting so much easier . One shot kills when you hit them in the head. Only wisent and bears take more shots. Roasted meat sells very well. Also for money I go around and mine the heck out of all the caves ( I think there are 7)). Make and sell tools. I've only just started farming so I'm not sure how profitable that will be after the changes...
Keep up with the great content - I enjoy the time lapses (I would suggest in wood demand untick Sticks and logs, so you only use firewood - Food items remove all individual food items like Cabbage, and especially raw meat, and water only from Bucket and waterskin, because say you left alcohol drinks, they would use this water. @HecticNasari - in a recent video showing all the cave locations and also stated that you can get mine Copper in an Excavation Shed. South East of the starting village are 2 more loot buildings, and if you were to steal from the Castalian house, his wife would have expensive items in their chest.
Best jobs to out first for villagers are lumberjack, cook, hunter and well carrier. Once you have those 4 basic ones then they take care of themselves.
A good way to hunt as well as saving spears is to hit them once with a spear or arrow and then you can catch up to them on foot. Use your fist and just punch them to death while running them down. It saves a lot of time making spears, arrows, etc.
I never sold stone knives in the first map, you can get your hunters to gather feathers, so just wait a couple days for it, and maybe like 2000 or more feathers. That's the thing I use to get money
There is a mine directly NE of the starting town just up the road a bit. I built at the mine so I can sell the ore there whenever I need money without traveling too far to sell it. That by itself pays my taxes evey year until I am ready to do more.
Yes, and if you cut a lot of trees you should get the extraction shed sooner than usual, and in it now you can get the worker to get copper ore right from it before you can build a mine !!! Real game changer!!!
I haven't seen anywhere if there is a building limit at the beginning of the game. In the old form (the Valley), you can only build five buildings at first, so when I saw you building like crazy, I was a little confused. Can anyone clarify? It's nice to see someone who doesn't know the game yet, and I would like to show you more and better the things you do for the first time, such as how to use that bag and the fertilizer, for example. Other than that, it was very enjoyable, and I hope you continue.
Super easy and fast money method. Roasted or dried meat. Faster to collect and make than torches or knives. A few deer or boar and get 40-50 pieces. Pleanty of money. Make sure you have 2 hunters that have at least 3 hunting. You'll get pleanty of meat to sell and for the villagers. Boom
Quick question. Getting interested in buying this, but I note on steam that there's the regular one and then there's an 'ultimate edition' - that one has as extra, the 'digital supporter's pack', an official guide and official cookbook. Anyone think the ultimate edition is worth the extra expenditure? [actually checked with my game-playing husband and apparently not. But I'll leave this here in case someone else has the same questions.]
it's interesting to watch an earlier Version of the game, because you went into town to buy a Scythe/Sickle when i believe in the current version you can hand craft a Stone Sickle now. in the radial slot after the stone knife
Just a note. In my opinion, 3rd person looks better for the timelapse. I like the Timelapse, and filming at night does not look good to me. Just thought you would like to know.
Nice video! I enjoyed this game more than I taught I would. Now I was wondering. Did I miss some news about your hardcore run? I really did enjoyed it too. GG!
I love this episode man keep up the good work and great vids, watching u do the work though is part of the game and i wish u didn't time-lapse as much.
Just started Oxbow. And your video's are a great help! I've 1 question/problem: my villagers won't bring the firewood to their homes... They expect me to do it, and get cross when I'm late. The firewood is stored in the barn, so they can access it. Is that a correct assumption? Or did I need to store the firewood elsewhere? Thanks for your suggestions. Keep it up:)
Hi Kysen, new Sub :) I really like your medieval Dynasty videos, hope you keep up the good work as for the storage at the well, the reason the well has a storage is for empty buckets to be used once you assign a viliger to the well ( if there will be no empty buckets in the well storage once you assigned a villiger to it, he/she will not work), the full water buckets will only count if they are in the food storage ..... edited and of course I noticed that someone already commented that after the post :D @lahire161
I have not played either game, but this looks a lot like Conan Exiles except lamer and more boring. Is there anything that makes this better than Conan Exiles?

it's interesting to watch an earlier Version of the game, because you went into town to buy a Scythe/Sickle when i believe in the current version you can hand craft a Stone Sickle now. in the radial slot after the stone knife
For the longest time I thought the plural of moose was meese. But it is moose.
Amazing content Kyzen
Thank you :)
Just a note. In my opinion, 3rd person looks better for the timelapse. I like the Timelapse, and filming at night does not look good to me. Just thought you would like to know.
MIGHT ACUAL RE UPDATE THIS GAME and try it out again , havnt played since its release , farming and milling and crafting clothes is fun in this game
I've played this for several Hundred Hours... 👍👍10💖 ... But not in Co-Op mode yet.
Nice video! I enjoyed this game more than I taught I would. Now I was wondering. Did I miss some news about your hardcore run? I really did enjoyed it too. GG!
It's not over, it will return :)
@@Kysen Glad to hear that. Tkx for taking the time to answer. Most important thing is that you have fun!
You can make the sickle in your handcrafting tab.
You can still voice over the timelapses with future plans or whatever you deem worthy rather than the songs.
New player here. Read the tip to make stone knives also. Had a shock when I sold them. Good video, thank you.
3rd kill was a deer, not a moose :P thats why it died quicker and gave less loot
Hi 👋 What key did you press to find your wooden spears after throwing them?
Sell roasted meat and bags for easy money early on!
Thanks for the tip :)
That 3rd animal was a stag not a moose guessing that’s the yield difference…idk just bought this game today after watching you
have fun! :)
@@Kysen thanks enjoying the series a lot
Making woman do the hard work for us I see! LOL
Great video, I like the timelapses too mate, keep it up!
-Bvitamine
New username? haha. And yeah, it is medieval times after all! haha
is this a preview play or is the update out yet for the new map
It's out! :)
Tree of Beginning's!!
Much better than my name haha
Are there different maps you play on this game because I just started playing and this map is like totally different
Yes. This map is The Oxbow but there is also the original map which is called The Valley
@Kysen thank you good to know
Trees take 2 years to regrow
Thanks! :)
@@Kysen 😇
Wow! You can't distinguish between a moose and a stag... Ahahahahahahahahahaa! Awesome! City bbooooyyyyyy, city boooyyyy!
It means that much to you? I feel sorry for you
How sad....
I love this episode man keep up the good work and great vids, watching u do the work though is part of the game and i wish u didn't time-lapse as much.
I understand her, mood so negative you just stand up and move to nowhere 😂 now I'm in Argentina pls help 💀
I believe firewood goes into the Resource Storage building
best way is to steel stuf from the lord lol
Perry Hotter and The Philosopher's Stump
Hi Kysen, new Sub :) I really like your medieval Dynasty videos, hope you keep up the good work as for the storage at the well, the reason the well has a storage is for empty buckets to be used once you assign a viliger to the well ( if there will be no empty buckets in the well storage once you assigned a villiger to it, he/she will not work), the full water buckets will only count if they are in the food storage ..... edited and of course I noticed that someone already commented that after the post :D @lahire161
For timelapses > Keep em short, cut out the getting materials and keep just the building parts (imo)
The plural of moose is meese.
Fight me.
What happened to hardcore Valheim?
It's not gone, it will return
You got a lot meat from two moose and two red stags
Dried meat is even more profitable than cooked meat
I was doing axes to I notice the knives are easier 😅
Moose plural is ‘Meese’ your welcome lol 😂
Episode 2! Lets Go!
Can make stone sickles in the smithy😀
Thanks! Definitely need to make that soon!
TOO SHORt
The plural of moose is moose. It's an indigenous word so can't be pluralised with an S
Top right of the item description show where it is supposed to go.
More please
Definitely - loving the game! :) Thanks for subscribing!
Testing tree!
The stump of curiousity?
is it me or does this guy sound like SpiffingBrit?
Not even close haha
I have not played either game, but this looks a lot like Conan Exiles except lamer and more boring. Is there anything that makes this better than Conan Exiles?
I haven't played conan so I'm not sure
Dose anyone now then it on xbox co op
Time lapse makes me wanna puke.
So skip it
Bit late, but you dont have to count the crop spots. When you are placing the crop it tells you the size so just have to do the math. example- 10x8=80
