Hey Thomas, I just found your videos and I love them! I was also overweight and with Keto and HITT workouts I went from 320 to 260 in 2-3 months. I am getting back into keto right now but I have an extreme budget challenge for you as well as a question. Extreme budget challenge at Walmart for someone who isn’t able to cook, no stove or grill for a week, $30 My question is what are your thoughts about keto bread, tortillas? Is it okay to consume when doing keto? I haven’t seen all of your videos yet, maybe you have touched on this subject. Just wondering since the videos I have seen you don’t show them. Appreciate what you do brother! Thank you for educating us!!!
Just do it. I was 280 5 months ago keto and intermittent fasting am 218 today and it's so easy now I can go OMAD everyday without a problem and i have so much energy to workout too . Good luck
Extra budget tips: *Ask when clearance typically is (and where). Yesterday we bought 4 thick pork chops and saved $4.50! 🎉 By coming in the early morning, we can typically save a good 20% on clearance for better, whole meat! * try to be at the store on the Last Day of a sale to see if they ran out, so you could ask for a rain check. 🌧 Again, this was yesterday. The cheap 80/20 has gone up to $5.99 since last month. Fortunately, we had a rain check from 26 days prior. We paid $3.49 per pound for the same ground beef!
Thanks Thomas!! With inflation and needing to budget this is beyond helpful! Keep more videos like this coming!!! Just in time for all of us needing to get back on track after the holidays.
I eat a ton of sardines. I actually have cases of it from Costco sales. There's nothing wrong with organic extra virgin olive oil in canned sardines from a reputable brand, and you can choose whether to drain off the oil or supplement calories with it. I actually like to drain into a frying pan and boil off the water then warm up the sardines and use some of the oil in the pan for making an omelet with the sardines, parm reg and avocado.
This is real world shopping for sure! When we have extra money in our budget I always grab a few extra frozen meats to stock my fridge! So In lean times I have a little extra in the freezer:). Great job. Enjoyed this video so much and learned a lot!
Wow $25 per week! I would do bulk eggs, beef, chicken, all lean cuts. Frozen cauliflower, broccoli cooked in butter. Sounds pretty affordable 🤓🤣 Also do OMAD, probably the grocery would be far less 😁
I know this is a video about buying food at walmart but if you can, go to your local butcher or anywhere but walmart for beef. Walmarts beef prices are stupid expensive, for me atleast. Also, pick up some chicken quarters(Walmart) , 6 bucks for 10 pounds. I cut them up and freeze in portions of 3 and make great meals. Then the scrap, back bone section can be used to make bone broth.
Could make that money go a lot further at Aldi…I’ve bought grass-fed organic ground beef for $4.49 a pound and whole chickens for 99cents a pound. And buying veggies on sale to go with it, and cheese is a bit lower in price there too.
When you said the "come on we're on a budget you can follow everything Thomas Delauer says you'd go broke" I felt that heavy lol I love your videos and how in depth you go but man it can definitely be overwhelming. I love this video cause you got more realistic with how most people would probably eat and shop. I'd love for you to do more shopping haul or even meals that are TD approved but are low budget without the best of the best
I love these hauls, they’re so helpful😍 The only thing that sucks is that not all of the items are organic😕 But that is because of the budget. Thanks Thomas!
I eat plant based no oils, and I average $13-15 weekly. This includes spices, flax meal, and raw cashews (expensive! but the expense is drawn out over a month or so per bag). Your shopping trip showcases some smart shopping for your dietary choices!
Don’t forget chicken gizzards and hearts! Yummy little protein nuggets. They’re usually like $1-2 per pound, also turkey gizzards. You can typically find them in the upper shelf above the chicken, or in the frozen aisle. My Walmart sells sardines in brine for $0.89 a can , I would do that baked in the oven with eggs. All you do is drain the water from the can (I drink it lol), then dump the sardines in a baking dish first, the. add 2 eggs and whatever seasoning you want. No added fat needed, the sardines have plenty. Super easy and delicious baked in the over at 375 for 15 mint or until the egg whites are done. That can be a meal on its own, or you could add ground meat and gizzards with it and make what I call a protein bowl.
Walmart, if you just straight up need cheap calories and macros: 10 lbs ground beef 73/27 1 lb butter 5 dozen eggs 2 lbs bacon (ends & pieces-just misshapen bacon) 4 lbs frozen broccoli 2 lb Brussel sprouts 2 lb cheddar cheese (sharp/med/whatever doesn’t make a caloric difference) $69.90 total for 2 weeks (not counting tax-here in California there is no grocery tax), so $34.95/week for about 2,100 calories and 105g protein per day. Not the $25 mark, but if you just loaded up on fat-like butter-and cut the veggies, you could still get 85-100g protein/day and around 2,000 cal for closer to the $25 mark. You’d need to look for sales though, to be safe. If you’re eating on a budget like this, canned mackerel is GREAT. Walmart sells a 15oz can, that’s just under 10oz when drained (of the brine, only salt and water). One can is like $2.98 and will balance out your omega-3:6 ratio greatly during the week. Either gulp it down or fry it up in the left over beef fat.
Walmart is good for advertising one price and then upcharging you at the cash register you have to always go to the service center to correct it and get your money back so check your receipts people
I'm a 5'10.5" young adult female at roughly 250lbs. I've noticed that intermittent fasting works for me (rarely hungry for breakfast but I'm working on that) and keto has worked for my mom when she was younger. So I'm hoping if I combine both throughout 2023, I can get back down to 210lbs. I want to get to my swim team weight (175) but it's going to take a while due to a skeletal issue.
I would love to see a similar video with a budget of $100 at Costco - with a break-down of how many weeks the food would last. This video was so informative and interesting. I live in Canada near Vancouver, BC and healthy food tends to be very expensive here. Those small jars of organic peanut butter are often around $8 (sometimes on sale for $5).
Thank you for your videos. Trainers are so not into guiding ppl on what is healthy to eat and what to do because they want money. Thank you for all your help Thomas
I buy the cheapest ground meat and when I finish cooking it I leave the pan on the stove with something underneath it like a spoon, anything that got the pan unleveled so the grease can go down and I can catch it. I save money that way, the difference between 80-20% and 90-10% is big. I rather get that 10% fat on my pan and then discard it or use it to cook something else. It has plenty of stearic acid that helps to melt belly fat..... yes, check Thomas video on that
Nope. Most people facing this limit can't borrow from the next week. My suggestion is App Australian Prices 1. Dinner - Cheese Omlette with Vegetables 1.5 dozen eggs ($6) 12 cheese slices ($3) 1 bag frozen vegetables - 2kg ($2). Try for frozen spinach or broccoli or mixed 2. Lunch - Peanut Butter and Vege sticks 1 jar peanut butter ($3) 1 bunch celery or 7 carrots ($2) 3. Keto Coffee 2 tins cocoanut cream ($2) 1 bottle coffee (got to go instant and cheap) - ($5) $21 to $25 Australian Maybe use that extra cash for avocados etc or oil. Add a splash when making your Omlette. Add the avocados in at lunch. This was my go to when things were tough. When I went fully plant based, I sub eggs for tofu and cheese for nutritional yeast.
A tip on Almond or Peanut butter…..if you can watch for sales on just the plain dry roasted nuts with sea salt and you have a blender, you can make your own butters, store in a mason jar by just blending a small batch at a time. Pretty good savings over the store, plus the best benefit is that its really clean, no extra sugar or inferior oil added!
I wonder if you could do another weekly budget challenge for even cheaper (and with more variety!) by getting bigger bulk packages. Possibly some Costco products?
He already failed the $25/week budget, even the $35. So I doubt he will do smaller budget. Secondly, inflation slowly increase price of food, so making the challenge harder. Thirdly, he lives in California, so price are expensive compared to most states.
@@texasgrannieof2 the price would be divided up for each week. For example, if you get the 5 dozen package of eggs which is ~$10 and you use a dozen a week, your weekly price for eggs is about $2
Drained canned asparagus in some whipped eggs with Gruyère baked in the muffin tin is really yummy. I usually throw in some Ms. Dash & call it a gourmet day.💕
would be cool if someone did this budget and would provide the meal plan with the ingredients bought. full breakdown. so if you buy the turkey patties here is a list of the patties and what you would make during the weak. monday turkey with lettuce and maybe some sort of condiment- tuesday turkey and tomato avocado. stuff like that. that would help a lot. i always have problems of what i know what to buy but do not know what to make with it exactly, at least good anyways
I feel the same way. We need more cooking with Thomas lol. I don't really know how to put things together to make meals either. I would really love to fine something that doesn't use any fish, shellfish or mushrooms since im deathly allergic to those
Happy New Year brother, love the content. I'm a long haul driver (OTR). I have a mini fridge that can hold 9 12oz cans. Right now I start my OMAD with two tablespoons of Mother's apple cider vinegar diluted with water. I'm eating one can of beef and salmon, block parmesan cheese, ghee, liquid aminos, hard boiled eggs, fresh broccoli, mushrooms, pecans, macadamia, and pumpkin seeds. I add MCT oil and nutritional yeast. I also drink Purely Inspired Organic Greens, Organic Protein and collagen peptide mixed all together in one drink. And I take vitamin D3/K2, magnesium oxide. Do you have any suggestions or pointers to add?
Thanks for giving me no excuse to get back on the keto bandwagon while I'm unemployed. I have been carbing it up for a while now because it's seemingly cheaper, but if I'm being honest not really as cheap as you've shown me today.
I truly appreciate this Wal Mart Run.. I drive truck over the road OTR and homeschool one child onboard. I’m limited for funds and options.. this Helps during slim weeks.. my check for this holiday season was cut by 80%… Thanks!
Love this videos but I hope the next time you get closer to your budget. Its great that you where giving us some ideas but I would have to agree that there where somethings that you could of done differently to get closer to your budget. This is a learning curve so it will take time. If I had your challenge then I would just change a few things now I'm no expert but instead of buying the $1 bag of frozen broccoli I would have picked the one for less than a $1. Instead of getting the pack of frozen turkey burgers you could just buy the ground turkey which is less $$ and make your own burgers in smaller portions. And get the beef burgers on your next shopping trip since that's one item that might of put you over budget. I would have gotten a medium or large size container of yogurt just to level out protein for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. But the peanut butter hunt really got me all I kept saying was why not get the powder natural peanut butter which only contains just peanuts which you could probably get more servings. But then again I don't eat peanut butter since I'm allergic. Maybe that might of help with you being a little closer on your budget goal. And also some who are looking for inspiration.
Remember that Walmart often charges more for their products than what is stated on the isles. Vons did this and the state of California sued them and Walmart does this in the state of California has sued them, but they may be back to doing it because they make so much money. In 2014 Walmart estimated making close to 1 billion dollars in the state of California alone by overcharging for the products. Just another reason to go to costco. Costco doesn't play these silly games.
this is a walmart vid right? 🥴 this guy does Costco vids. not everyone can go to Costco or afford costco. with respect you're probably right but I think you're missing the point.
If I was on a hard up budget I’d IF past breakfast (maybe have a coffee or tea) eat tuna and avocado as many days as I can For lunch … some type of protein and greenery wrap for dinner
So just scrolling through youtube and see this video. Im sick at home and just remembered i have spinach and bellpepper, maybe these green veggies will help me get better faster
I couldn’t help but make jokes and giggle in my head when you said “Jesus” at the cheese section (by saying “Cheesus” to myself) and when you said “in a jam…” at the PB section with the jelly right next to you 🤣. I am super mature. I know.
Isn't keto suppose to be high fat medium protein? Other keto advisors recommend ground beef that is less lean and higher in fat (as long as it's grass fed).
Welcome to inflation. Since food is up 12%+ everything is ridiculous. Read ads and try BOGOs and sales on healthy food. I used to be able to eat super healthy without looking for deals for under $40 @ week eating salmon and filet once a week. Now its, $60 @ week and I'm using sales to get that!
I have followed you for a few years now but haven’t been keto the last two years. I had great success before but quit just before lockdowns happened. Now I’ve had a baby recently and wondering about keto while breastfeeding. If you have any knowledge and suggestions for that.
Go look for NeishaLovesIt. She is Dr. Ken Berry's wife, who is a great influencer. She has one son and one on the way. She is on keto and has some recipes and other stuff.
Do broccoli sprouting in a mason jar and you'll effectively have all your organic cruciferous vegetables for pennies/week. Edit: and blend sprouts with mustard seed extract and drink.

Walmart, if you just straight up need cheap calories and macros:
10 lbs ground beef 73/27

5 dozen eggs
2 lbs bacon (ends & pieces-just misshapen bacon)
4 lbs frozen broccoli
2 lb Brussel sprouts
2 lb cheddar cheese (sharp/med/whatever doesn’t make a caloric difference)

You are amazing! Thanks brother
This is awesome. Thank you
I would love to see total calories/ macros purchased for the week and then broken down to by the day. It doesn’t seem like enough food.
Prices are even more up here in Canada with prices increasing again for many basics.
🥴 this guy does Costco vids. not everyone can go to Costco or afford costco. with respect you're probably right but I think you're missing the point.
hey, great video and very well explained, thank you
If I was on a hard up budget I’d IF past breakfast (maybe have a coffee or tea) eat tuna and avocado as many days as I can For lunch … some type of protein and greenery wrap for dinner
Ain't Yougart pasturized??? No probiotic affect?
The Paw Patrol comment cracked me up. I love how you always have little one liners in your videos.
Great shopping list.
You did very good on that amount of money. You taught me some valuable. Nutritional goals while getting my food.
Thank you
So just scrolling through youtube and see this video. Im sick at home and just remembered i have spinach and bellpepper, maybe these green veggies will help me get better faster
If prices keep going up Thomas will have to do videos titled "Do Keto for $2,500 a week at the Dollar Store"
Keto for a week with a 100 trillion dollar bill.
@@victorcode2075 Thomas's haul will be a can of tuna and a pack of shoe strings for the slow digestive fiber to balance the gut microbiome
Cool!! I been waiting for this! 25 is very tight . Did good
Thomas what about organic ground beef, wagu burgers are $4.85 here in Walmart FLA. ???
Love the video! Thanks
Would love to see a video $35 for a week. Or even $50 per week. Thank you for the video!❤️

I'd like to see an updated 2023 version of this.
for peanut butter just blend some peanuts with stevia and coconut oil if you can
I love thrive I got two deliveries this week
This is a video I actually wanted. Glad you made it
A year ago that challenge wouldve been a lot easier .
Damn this Inflation :(
Dude seriously. Almost double now
Democrat economy! What do you expect!
Do broccoli sprouting in a mason jar and you'll effectively have all your organic cruciferous vegetables for pennies/week.
Edit: and blend sprouts with mustard seed extract and drink.
Broccoli sprouts are extremely healthy, good option.
Never would've thought of frozen turkey and beef burgers. Thanks.
Basically what I eat but I do lightly salted dry roasted peanuts instead of peanut butter and sour cream instead of yogurt😸
This sounds like a good idea, thanks!
