- Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen arrived in Los Angeles, California, on April 4, 2023, the last stop of her trip.
From 6 p.m. onwards, many Chinese people supporting and protesting Tsai Ing-wen gathered outside the hotel where she was staying, and at one point the two sides were quite close, less than 10 meters apart, with tense clashes on the verge of breaking out.
Hundreds of overseas Taiwanese came to welcome Tsai's transit visit, chanting slogans of “Keep it up!”
Earlier, the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles issued a statement expressing strong opposition to Tsai's transit through the United States and her meeting with the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Some protesters from China were on site Tuesday to accuse Tsai of being a "traitor” to her country.
Tsai is scheduled to meet Wednesday with Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives McCarthy.
This is the second time in approximately eight months that Tsai will meet with the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. She met with then Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in Taiwan last August, and China responded by conducting unprecedented live-fire military exercises around the island.

Welcome to the United States, Mrs. President
@Hubert,
Dear instigator of conflict.
Stupidity is a deliberate cultivation of ignorance.

The 3 US-China communiques is one of the biggest western foreign policy disaster of all time. Best thing to do is rip them up and go back to US- Taiwan mutual defense treaty
“THE U.S. SIDE DECLARED: THE U.S. ACKNOWLEDGES THAT ALL CHINESE ON EITHER SIDE OF THE TAIWAN STRAIT MAINTAIN THERE IS BUT ONE CHINA AND THAT TAIWAN IS A PART OF CHINA. THE U.S. GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CHALLENGE THIS POSITION. IT REAFFIRMS ITS INTEREST IN A PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT OF THE TAIWAN QUESTION BY THE CHINESE THEMSELVES. WITH THIS PROSPECT IN MIND, IT AFFIRMS THE ULTIMATE OBJECTIVE OF THE WITHDRAWAL OF ALL U.S. FORCES AND MILITARY INSTALLATIONS FROM TAIWAN….”
Looks like a rehearsal
Tsai-ing Wen even has an American name, Sighing Wen-dy. Wendy Tsai and her daddy Uncle Sam sigh about China day in day out.
Accoring to China-US joint-agreement,the US government officers can not see any officers of Taiwan. Why US do not follow this rule?
