These were 320hp cars from the factory. Ford under-rated them as well as the terminator very conservatively after getting in so much trouble with the 99 Cobra. There was no reason the car shouldn’t have been rated at 320hp like the 01 Cobra, especially with the better heads. These cars easily put down 280 RWHP stock when they were new which is the 320hp number with drive rain loss
These engines have almost 20° less duration on the intake lobe so even with the better heads, they dont quite exceed the power production of a post fix 99/01 cobra engine. The camshaft change is why the engine wasnt rated the extra 20 horsepower as is the idea that the Mach and Cobra were not meant to be compteting for sales. That said, any of the earlier cobra intake cams in a 03+ headed 4v will likely exceed the power of any 99/01 post fix combo.

My dad's 02 navigator with the 5.4 dohc just cracked 223k miles and JUST lay
Last week developed rod knock, but it made it a whopping 223k miles!!! That's amazing if you think about it, for stock motor that's never been opened up or rebuilt..... These dohc motors last just fine, so long as you take care of em and do the maintenance
on mach 1 groups on facebook, there are many many people in the 100k-200+k range. Just take care of it and it will last.
4vs are beautiful looking engines, but man the 2v’s are so easy to mod and always take 1/2 the amount of parts.
Only half the amount of valvetrain components..literally everything else including ease of modification is the same
But all other things equal, will not offer the same power potential. 4V is definitely a 2V killer
@@chadkent1241 Correct, but as a 2v guy i've always feared the leaks n issues the 4v can give.. Putting TrickFlow top end on my 09 P71 by the end of this year..
Wish I never sold my off road h pipe for my 95 cobra.
I just don’t get how it made peak power at only 5000rpm it should be closer to 6100-6200rpm.
hell yeah brother, wait kinda looks just like mine a lil, just saying
Nice car.
Nice
Shouldn't change the front bumper at all. You guys should put it back to stock. Now if it was GT who cares LOL 😂
You do know GTs and machs had the as bumpers right lol
@@urenaanthony91 No shxt did they!?
These cars actually make 320hp at the crank
Wow only 299 hp? That doesn’t seem like a lot
Please wash and detail the undercarriage along with the rest of the car. Looks like someone took this car mudding.
2 valves matter!!!
The cobra parts on non cobra cars is so played out
Doing the same modifications as everyone else is played out. It's time to get rid of black wheels.
Agree... Black wheels are boring.
IMO, the front Cobra facsia on a Mach 1 is a classy mod. Gives it a real unique look
Could not agree more! Get some deep-dish Mach 1 style wheels on that thing and also turf the Terminator front bumper cover in favor of a factory unit with chin spoiler.
Yes so let's keep everything stock then 🤣🤣 s55os are putting gt350 bumpers on there.stovk bumpers just don't look good. I was lucky enough to find a 99/01 Cobra front
Such a nice car to butcher with the stupid Cobra nose and hideous aftermarket wheels. Did someone actually think these were an improvement? Such a shame.
Wheels and bumpers are easy fixes. Plus, what people do to their cars is up to them. Since this video was released, we've installed our SVE 17" Mach 1 style wheels, Ford OEM GT (Mach 1) bumper, and chin spoiler. -Landan
-10000000 for not keeping the shaker functional.
ford under rates all their stuff
2v sounds better imo
I'm so spoiled I would fall asleep driving a 300hp mustang.
@@Prestiged_peck i be trying to tell people the same .
@@Prestiged_peck My 2017 GT weights 3680 lbs with out driver. I have NEVER had a Mach 1 come even close to staying with my GT. My GT ran 12.6@116mph. The Mach 1 was a low 13's at best. I do love the looks of the Mach's, they are very nice. They are almost 20 years old now.
@@davew9374 someone must've misquoted the new mustang's weight to me then, still lighter though. My 96 gt weighs like 3075 with me in it, and it's full interior with lightweight racing seats, I can drop like 200lbs in like 30 minutes if I want though, back seats, the passenger's seat, spare tire and tools, etc.
@@Prestiged_peck wtf the s550 is under 3800lbs and as my name I have a roush mustang stage 2 so I'm sitting at 700rwhp, so from my point of view I would still fall asleep!!!!
@@carguy... well a roush is a different story, that would be more comparable to the roush/saleen models available the same year which were capable of 4-600 wheel depending on the base car.
Mustangs are boring….
Question dose 2003 nach1 with 190k is worth 10k exact same color
Gerardo - Prices of vehicles can vary based on location. There are several variables that can dictate the asking price of a vehicle. I would shop around and see what other people are asking. Hope this helps. -Landan
