Josh really is the man when it comes to troubleshooting, someone commented on his video about how their company hires him to fix a neutral issue on a commercial building.
Resi and Commercial Service is where its at imo. Resi new construction is too cut throat also the profit margins are to low. It's not worth it. Plus, most GCs suck. Same goes for designers, realtors, and flippers they are always looking for the cheapest electricians. New Commercial you better have the right man power and capital cause you'll be the bank. I started out of my truck, took the jobs I could do, and slowly built/grew my company. Zero debt! Slow growth but zero debt.
@supercooldude824 I do most residential & commercial service. Basically, when something goes wrong with someone's electrical system and they need an electrical contractor to diagnose and repair it, I do that. Also, I do remodel work, or if someone wants to add new outlets lights switches, a full home standby generator, service upgrade, I do all that as well.
Commercial service is easier because the customers just leave you alone. Sometimes you have to BS with the weird maintenance guy that lives there though.
Very good video make more of these please I’m in trade school for electrical and not sure if I’ll persue it but I really like the idea of owning my own business the only thing I’m worried about it what licenses and certifications do I need to start a business ? And also is electrical dangerous ? Not sure why but I always get worried when I think about working in that field and how many dangerous stories there are if you could make a vid talking about how dangerous electrical is compared to other trades like plumbing carpentry hvac that weould be very helpful for me thanks
Being an electrician is safer than being a cop or a pizza delivery guy, but more dangerous than working in an office. I mean overall it kind of depends on what kind of work you do.
Thanks, I am going out on my own at the first of the year. Lots of good things to think about in your video. I'm just south of you in the Boulder area.
