  • Frayed wires are what's left at one of the newest electric vehicle charging stations in Pierce County, which was brought to town with the help of a local business owner.
Dave Radcliffe, longtime business owner and CEO of The Old Cannery, said its the second time the charging cords have been cut in the span of a few months.

@@GroverParkGeorge a theft obviously occurred. Destruction of property also occurred. There are no restrictions in job titles as you can be a thief AND a vandal. If the perpetrator had taken the entire charge port, vandalism likely would be off the table as a criminal charge. Wealth disparity strikes again. The movie Emily the Criminal kinda lays this out pretty well. If you have not seen it just watch the scene where Aubrey plaza's character is offered an unpaid internship explains the gist of the movie. I work an honest job for a living and am angered by property crime as much as the next person but there are some people who are recognizing the game is rigged, and are refusing to play. I feel like that's why there is organized property crime and theft rings and nobody can have anything nice. .

Even if the thief is caught, they'll likely get a slap on the wrist. Too many repeat offenders out there who should be kept behind bars. With that said, charging stations should be setup more like gas stations with a convenience store. That would discourage theft and encourage more to get an EV. Charging stations now are often on the edge of parking lots and not safe, especially at night.
