Thanks Dan, great video and thanks for understanding the capture rates. The Multi Sluice is designed for REDUCTION as its primary goal. (It's a concentrate cleaner) We ALWAYS assume there will be a 2-5% loss by weight simply because we are throwing basically ALL HEAVY concentrates at it. On my second run I usually classify a bit smaller and play with the angle too. When running the WASHER mat... #2 stripping mat. It's critical to understand that we REALLY push the cons hard and there's not a lot of places for the gold to hide. What does this mean? Any large flakes, round nuggets etc... that have a strong hydraulic drag will sometimes be pushed out as well. But when STRIPPING the black sands, one has to lose the fear of losing gold. We want to TRY and blow the gold out almost. It's fun to play with all the angles and pitches too. Be safe out there. DOC

One of my favourite Gold Hog videos is the 6 oz clean up video ruclips.net/video/yR_0rnkobeI/видео.html if you need a gold fix, it’s a great video. Even Docs “assistant” Mike can’t help but grin at the gold. (Edit video name)

Hello Dan, and thank you very much for your videos. I discovered your channel recently and subscribed. I can not remember which video I found first, but it did cause me to look at your channel and then watched all of your classroom videos. What a great opportunity for your students, not just to get the "GOLD" bug, but to learn history, get their heads out of the electronic devices, and enjoy nature. I also loved the "SHOP" aspect of your classes, getting the kits to build their own equipment, learning that they CAN make things and do not have to buy everything. I know that I treasured every project I built in High School.
I discovered Doc's Gold Hog channel several months ago and loved watching so many of his videos and seeing his equipment and mats. Thank you for your reviews. Keep up the good work.

As a side note, couldn't you wash a lot of the mud out of the bucket of classified material, maybe multiple times, so the recirculated water is much cleaner? Just a thought.

Sir, I gotta tell ya, I'm glad you do what you do. Up here in the Northeast Kingdom (NH, US), I found gold! It's known to be up here in Indian Stream/Perry Stream, Pittsburg (on the border with Quebec), but no one ever really pans up here. I moved here from San Diego 4 years ago, found your videos (probably watched 3/4 of them), and started panning. In NH it's "hand to pan" without a permit, but man oh man! Flour gold central! No wonder there was a rush up here (late 1800's). Thanks to you, our little family is out there in creeks playing in the streams. Don't really care as much about finding gold as I do seeing our 4 y/o boy working alongside his mommy and daddy. Thanks amigo & keep it up!

He is spending a lot of his time now with commercial operations but it you have any questions about capturing gold especially small gold, Doc is your man to go to.

First and foremost, continue to take care of yourself. I took the last 5 months off from watching all gold prospecting vids, as it is psychologically damaging to me (partially joking) watching others pan, highbank and snipe gold etc when I can't do it myself when the ground is frozen, so I wasn't aware of your heart issue until just now. Secondly, I think it was highly disrespectful of the ice in the cons buckets, not to have been considerate enough to have melted beforehand and therefore making you wait. Dan, educational video as always and thank you for sharing.

Great to see you persevering with the heart issues, but please take care. I know we spoke briefly back around Christmas time about my aorta replacement. Since then, in February, I had a massive failure of that valve as well. They installed a TAVR which changed everything. I feel amazing now. I just accepted the weakness and tiredness to my heart and age. But I’m 46 and have always been active. Come to find out, my heart was only opening blood flow at 40%. I feel for you brother and I can understand. From love in Colorado.

Another great video Dan...really highlights how to properly use the equipment. I’ve been a believer in Hold Hog equipment for a very long time and I’m still surprised at how well these mats work (I have the Stream Sluice that I have converted to a highbanker ). I was really torn between the Multi and the Stream Sluices when I bought and I wen the way I did because I was primarily looking for a top notch primary recovery not a cleanup system. This long time subscriber is truly sorry to hear about your heart issue and I’m looking forward to watching your next video. Stay safe, get that ticker of your fixed so you can get back out there like you always have. Like you always say...”See you next time!”

I have used Docs equipment from the very beginning. Helped him test many times. This unit can take 5 gal of cons to a cupful in under 10 minutes with a capture rate over 95 percent on the first run. So you can get back out prospecting. Save the 2nd run for bad weather days, there wont be much in it anyway. Nothing will catch 100 percent of the gold, there will always be acceptable losses. The amount of material you can run and the time it saves along with the capture rate makes this unit the best on the market.
During one test we put well over an ounce of gold in 5 gal of cons, ran it then went to get a drink. Well we got to talking (nawww, Docs really shy and dont like to talk, ha ha) and realized 30 minutes had past with the unit still running (we were really testing a new battery Doc found). After running the tailings again even Doc was surprised how little gold had escaped. I use mine all the time
It is also very good for testing a new area.
    Stay safe.

Hi.Dan like anything it takes some play time.I have been playing with this for several years.I do not use the scrubber mat.First I screen down to 1/8 and use the washer mat.I set up at 13 degrees.I also use a ball valve to get the water slowed down.I know the doc likes fast water but slow works much better. Most of the gold sits in the top 1/2 of the mat so I simply pull the mat and wash the top into another tub and the bottom back into the catch tub.The bottom is usually still loaded with black.I repeat the process until I see no gold in the top of the mat might take 20 minutes to do thisBut it only takes a few seconds to bump out the minute bit of sand that gets in from cleaning the top.You can clean up a bucket of cons real fast and have less that a 1/4 gram of black to deal with.Play with it and you will learn to love your clean up sluice.Mark.

Thanks Dan. I've watch so many manufacture's take their rig in the field and show you what they caught. Don't care, a wood box with groves will catch gold. What's in the tailings?!!!
Maybe not enough water with the small pump, but make a screen (small fryer basket) to fit the upper box would save pre-classification.

I love mine👍. Different cons may require different angles. Also lower flow rates can scrub mats so watch your angle and pump rise and hose length. Is there a line of black sand on the beach? Watch for a definite line where flood water receded and wave action concentrated the good stuff. Your multi sluice will love it!

I’m a big fan of gold hog. When I saw docs super hog high banker featured on gold rush when Parker was in Papua New Guinea, I completely geeked out.

I love my multi sluice. Hands down one of the best gold prospecting products I have ever owned. I have ran mine as intended also ran creek side when water flow too low and slow for stream sluice. Beyond the function its well built very polished product.

Love your videos. I Am one of your patreons. I was planning to visit you in July, but the C-19 virus has made it impossible to plan a trip from Norway to Canada. Hope to visit you in 2021. I look forward to your videos to come. Stay safe and healthy.

Hi Dan, I have a Gold hog Piglet. I do not have at yet the Multi Sluice, but I did notice what I believe did could improve on as per Doc, your mat at the top of the sluice should be more of a rounded curve, it looks like you have that mat tucked in real tight to a 90 degree angle.

Great start to a great review Dan! Even though I can't run out and grab some of the equipment you and many other youtubers have reviewed, or just used, it's still great to learn about and see it actually being used!
Looking forward to watching part 2 to see the rest of this review!

The multi sluice is the most amazing gold recovery system there is !!!! You can use it in the desert use it on the beach , heck you can even use it inside your house!!!! Anyone thinking about buying it should watch the videos DOC made about it , there's a lot more to it then what you saw here !!! This is what I use and the only thing I use to capture and clean gold

I love my multisluice. I have a lot of gear but this one is just the most fun to use. I like it's versatility. The ability to be used in the field with a bigger pump, like Chris from Vogus does, makes its value as a tool all the much higher.

Wow Dan good call on mentioning how that second run was surprising but just at the same time. When I saw the results from your first run that second run was certainly 2% maybe even less really. That's judging from the larger pieces of gold tho as I saw a lot of fines in the first run material but I couldn't see much for fines in the second run. That Doc guy has a great gig going for the gold hounds out west.
