- The first of a series of episodes devoted to Remembering Charlie Watts. A huge thanks to my friends Steve Gadd, Kenney Jones, Rick Marotta, Stan Lynch, Michael Shrieve, Andy Newmark, Steve Maxwell, John Ferraro and Yard Gavrilovic. The laughs and stories were non-stop! Check out Part 2!
great discussion and stories about Charlie and Rick is hilarious
So nice to see Stan after all these years. I worked with him (as his publisher) in the 90's - he's one of my fav drummers...Gadd too! Thanks for posting!
As a fellow drummer I really enjoyed this. We will all miss Charlie but bloody hell what a bunch of great other drummers here still with us too! Now am off to watch some more episodes. Well done John for doing this!!
Heartwarming to hear a group of legendary players speak of a legend as a humble gentleman from a group of humble gentlemen. You guys did an excellent tribute.
Thank you, Mark.
WOW! talk about a gathering of some of the best ... Awesome - can't wait to listen on my long commute home tonight!!
Loved this - thanks John, for doing it! Hello to Andy - I remember the Stebal Drums hang like it was yesterday!
loved this!! and yes it me hard too, the loss of Charlie - as a 13 yr old in '77 in my band playing jumping jack flash over and over and over, he was a main man. Saw the Stones in '82. God bless Charlie and guys thanks for the laugh and the stories xx
So awesome! Thank you John for putting this together!
So great!
What a blast! Thanks John!! ❤️🥁
These guys are like all the best drummers in my neck of the woods. No weird egos or hang ups and bullshit you sometimes find with other instrumentalists or (ahem) singers. It's like a manual labor job, in that you get the least attention but you're carrying the whole show on your shoulders, you like it that way...and that was Charlie all day.
Fantastic, nice words for Mr. Watts / I’ve heard Steve maxwell speak about the collection, my 2 cents, maybe Hudson involved, they have the experience and network......to see those kits from the past, bid Sid, Mel, etc.....as a nice book, or digital, as Hudson and all publishers are doing.....but a great coffee table museum quality documentation would be great......Badaboom
Does Gadd have a signature kit?
Charlie should have one.
Charlie wouldn't want one.
Great show. (Next time start off with real introductions. Please and thank you.)
Yes. Got a little thrown from my game. Intros to start.
